Not that I'm jumping on the Winger fan club.. but remember that Kip
Winger, and Paul Taylor (Winger's other guitarist) played with Alice
Cooper for a few years.. They're good musicians (not great), even though
they can't seem to write beyond crotch level..

Brian you've got to do another tape tree. There are a lot of jammers who
loved the first effort. anyone who complains about the quality must be an
idiot. What, do people expect an audience boot to sound like LATM?

Lets start a petition for Brian to release the second tape tree...

    >
You picked up two of the least 'progressive' of the Magna Carta
bands. Magellan, Shadow Gallery, Enchant and Cairo have more progressive
tendencies. None of the Magna Carta bands are as heavy sounding as DT though.
Shadow Gallery is probably the closest to DT in overall sound (but
don't expect them to be like DT or as good -- they're different). I find
their music can get a bit cheesy at times, but a lot of DT fans (including
me) like their album "Carved in Stone".
Magellan is my favorite of the Magna Carta bands. They have a lot
of complex rhythms and melodies and great dynamics. They feature the keyboard
more than the guitar but it usually is used a driving style that I love. It
took me a little while to get used to the vocals, but now I love them. Try
    "Impending Ascension".
Enchant is a little more guitar oriented and song oriented than
Shadow Gallery or Magellan. They are worth trying.
Cairo is the most keyboard oriented of the bands I mentioned. I
also find them a bit boring. The keyboards are well done, but they don't
grab you with good melodies or dramatic dynamics. I'd recommend the above
    bands first.

It's too bad you had the bad luck the pick the least progressive
of the Magna Carta bands first. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the other bands
    more. They're worth trying.

Let me know if you want more info...

Brian...I think the whole Idea of that song was to fool around with the timng of the tape on his 8 track.....If you notice, Paul does alot of ackwards shit in the middle...and towards the end he speeds up the tape considerably... He wasn't humanly doing that....I don't think it's very possible...

Interesting to note, other guitarists used technology to help their speed....Nuno Betancourt used a delay MIDIed to a Drum Machine in 'flight of the wounded bumble bee'

I know, I know; by now everyone who wanted it should have it, but to add my 2 cents on the new Pantera album: it's very heavy and extremely intense. It leans more towards Far Beyond Driven, but with a kind of groove thats just unexplainable. The reason it took me so long to post about it was the discovery of Victor Wooten's new solo album. (Bass players know who I'm talking about!) GET THIS ALBUM!!!! It's on the "Compass" label and is entitled "A Show of Hands." This album grooves beyond belief! (Not the same kind of Pantera groove, mind you.)

I need yet another favor. This time from all the ytse-bass players. I need transcriptions for: the Mirror, Voices, Learning to Live, Erotomania, and Pull Me Under. I'm trying to form a band and there's a few bass players I need to get the music to and a few have requested tab. It's my summer long quest to find a band. I already have two guitarists(counting myself) and my main objective is to find a really smokin' rhythm unit. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone noticed the statue on FW's Parallels & Perfect Symmetry to be the same one on the back of I&W? Just checking, I got into Fates a few months ago and while listening to Life in Still Water(good job James!) I noticed it.

As far as Mike Bahr's secret: SOMEBODY TELL ME!!!!!! AARRGGHH!!!

The notion of some people, actually bitchin' to Brian about the quality of the tape tree dub. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that I was supposed to be at that show and every time I listen to it it makes me want to kick myself dead in the ass!! Great job Brian, I'm thoroughly pleased, but you know what they say: You can please some of the jammers all of the time, but you can't make em' drink! (yeah right, we got our own support group on the jam!!) Which reminds me, BEER drinkers do yourself a favor and try a Mackeson Triple Stout!!

Hello - Questions? Comments? Recipes? Call 1-800-232-8888 1. 8-Tracks and the way we were... Pat mentioned his first records as being Queen 8-Tracks. That's funny because I actually had Queen - "A Night at the Opera" on 8-Track, but I had no 8-Track. I had Kiss- "Hotter Than Hell" on 8T, too, so I guess those were my *real* first albums. What's the last 8T anyone saw? I think it was Ozzy's Bark at the Moon for me. 2. Hello Jammers,

Secret Guess ------------ OK, I figured it wasn't the Rush thing, Rush never announces who is going to open for them this early, they usually keep everything under raps. I vote for Peter Collins as the new producer, or they are going to headline ProgDay 96 down in the Carolinas... I really hope it is the Progday show since I'll be attending anyways. I know it isn't Progscape because Chris would have told me about that, though he did try to get DT and Marillion last winter.

Pyromania --------- This is easily my favorite Def Leppard album, and really the only album by them I still listen to on a regular basis. Billy's got a Gun, great song. I think DL was OK through Hysteria then they really went to hell, Adrenalize was one of the most heavily produced album I ever heard. The guitars were so processed, they didn't sound real anymore. Plus the songwriting was really bad (Let's Get Rocked?), all IMO, I'm sure some DL fans will come to their defense.

The Death of the Brian Cox Tape Tree ------------------------------------ I'm really sorry to hear about this. Brian always does high quality recordings, of course they aren't as good sounding as Live at the Marque, but they really aren't meant to be. His recordings are consistantly better than a lot of DATs that are recently recorded, and this is based on emperical evidence. (I have a few tape copies of his DATs) I think you should just ban the complainers, the rest of us who appreciate and enjoy your work would really like to hear the other tapes.

You don't know the half of it. If you want to live *in* the city, bank on apartments starting roughly at $1000 (that's a thousand) per month. And those are the cheap ones. Then there's gas, car insurance, movies... Vermont ain't so bad.

Man, these guys are good. I just bought the album today. I'm trying to think of a comparison, and the one idea that keeps running through my head is echolyn. If you like echolyn, I think you'll like Seed. Their major debut is called "Ling" (get it?), and I bought it at a regular everyday store. It rocks. Go get it.
