i think you're being a little oversensitive there guy. this list IS for DT and other related topics. i think Marillion falls under that. i wouldn't get all bent out of shape because of what someone thinks. it is, after all IMO's and all that good stuff.
>head is echolyn. If you like echolyn, Ithink you'll like Seed. Their >major debut is called "Ling" (get it?), and I bought it at a regular >everyday store. It rocks. Go get it.
i went out and bought this CD after reading this post. i personally couldn't hear the echolyn connection, but they're not too bad. i think it'll grow on me. i wasn't blown away at first listen, but i wasn't turned off entirely either. who knows....
> Cairo: '80's progressive sound. Songs are diverse in the way > that they sound and feel, yet still sound like Cairo. > Too many o.k. instrumental jams. Sometimes reminds me > of Genesis and sometimes Yes.
Cairo reminds me of ELP for some reason. they're definitely a talented band, but they lack *punch* IMO. they're very progressive however, and they have a good keyboardist.
> Enchant: I don't have their album yet, but the stuff on the Trib's > that I have is excellant, especially "Changes" on the Yes > tribute.
i REALLY dig these guys. i think anyone that likes Rush should definitely give them a listen. their songs are well crafted, the musicianship is solid (no DT, but hey, who is?), and their drummer even plays kinda like Peart. he's real busy with the cymbals.... the only bad thing i could say is that their lyrics are kinda sophmoric, but they're not too bad. IMHO. their cover of _CHANGES_ (on the yes tribute) totally kicks ass.

Hey All,
I just read somebody (can't remember your name, sorry!) who said Ozzy's Bark at the Moon (BATM? :) was his first album- mine too! Does anyone remember seeing Ozzy on Solid Gold ?? Does anyone even remember that show? heh... as for Brian/tape tree, I can't believe someone would actually complain about it when he was doing it as a favor to everyone in the first place.. jeez.. some people... obligatory: BAFUUUUU!
DTC: I swear some people think I'm in a cult, with all these majesty symbols everywhere... :)

First off, to Brian Cox: I, for one, would like it very much if you were to go through with your orig. intention of a second tape tree Second off, am I the only one who fears A rehash of the Blind Melon thing???? I still have bad memories of the shannon Hoon death aftermath Jams... Third off, What the Hell, Mojo and Buster are trying to Out-Nice each other now? hey, that's almost as sickening as the flame wars :-)
> It's amazing how quickly you can read jams by scanning the contents for > anything by Mike Bahr or Bafu, reading those and skipping the rest. > All the content and half the fat! it's the Jam Lite! Fifth off, About Def Lep: Did they dump Elliot? I heard a new song through a bunch of static and the vocals just sound, well, different......
Sixth off, about IMs "A Real Live One" Sure I know it's a live album, but it says produced and Mixed by Steve Harris, and I think he coulda taken out some of the SCREECHES that are found here and there....you're listening along, enjoying, and all of a sudden there's this noise that just raises the hair on the back of your neck......

Man, and I thought I was stuck in the eighties....the last rock album to suffer mass hysteria...(forgive the pun) during the sales of it, was probably Guns and Roses...

*** Reply to note of 05/07/96 22:25 No offense Jon, but if you want to know the story for O:M listen to the disc. Read the lyrics along with the songs. You'll see what's going. It's a lot more intriguing that way, anyhow.
As far as REM goes, they were great until "Green". Then they too went the way of MTV and mindless songs. Give me "Document", "Fables" etc.
Speak the word.............REVOLUTION!

Did I miss something? Who complained? I thought the tapes were great. Since i've started trading, these tapes are some of the few analog tapes that i have that have achieved an a- or better standing. I'd still like to get an analog copy if possible. Brian, if you read this, I'll send you tapes if you want or maybe we can work out a trade? Email me if we can work something out.

In a message dated 96-05-08 04:15:21 EDT, you write:
>Excerpts from mail.ytsejam: 7-May-96 Sister Mary and Mojo by MR JOHN >CAHILLJR@prodigy >> You are wrong when you say Sister Mary was sung by Pamela >> Moore. Geoff Tate did all the lead vocals (Suite sister mary >> included) for O:M. I remember when Mindcrime came out the band was on >> MTV and the VJ asked them if that was Geoff singing and he said >> rather emphaticly " YES ". Pamela Moore only did the " What are you >> doing out in the rain? Come in" parts. Just listen to the part where >> Mary says " I'll close my eyes, You shoot" especially the you shoot >> part. Listen to it and you'll hear that is is Geoff Tate without >> question.
Hey John, I have to disagree with you as I am listening to SSM as I type this and it is definitely not Geoff singing the part of Sister Mary. You can tell by the accent alone and that accent sounds just like the accent on the spoken part that you mentioned. " What are you doing out in the rain? Come in"
>I don't think so, since on the Livecrime video we actually see the woman >singing (live, onstage) while Geoff is writhing about. And while her >voice is similar to his, it isn't the same. Now, I suppose it's possible >that she sang on tour and Geoff sang it in the studio, but I really >doubt it, since she definitely has the same voice on both recordings.
Shoot reply didn't quote who said this and I already deleted the Jam it was in. Anyway, I am now listening to the Livecrime version of SSM and you are correct. You can tell also by the fact that she sings the beginning of her part over the last note that Geoff is holding at the end of his part. Also I have an interview that I taped off MTV with Geoff talking about the mini-tour over seas in which he tells the VJ that PM "the woman who sang the part of Mary on the album" is doing this short tour with us.
