    Hey all,
This is something that has always bugged me. What empirical evidence
is there to suggest that it was not a woman singing on O:M? Some nebulous
magazine article? It seems to me that it would be pretty easy to find a
woman capable of doing a duet with GT. I don't understand why this is
such an absurdity to other QR fans. This is not a flame. I am just
expressing wonder at what I percieve as the opinion either a) Geoff Tate is
such an incredible singer, no woman could possibly match him well enough
for a duet, or b) Geoff Tate is such an egomaniac that he could not stand
anyone else singing on an album with him. What are the other
alternatives, doubters? c) QR hired a studio singer with a good voice
(but no Kiri Tekanawa) to sing a couple of lines on an album that
required a character other than Geoff (BTW, I'll bet hiring her was
cheaper than one of those Gender/Bender things, but I could be wrong).

Well, I can't say one way or the other, because I HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY DAMN
TAPES YET! (Not Broon's fault, but someone else on the tree.) Brian,

Seriously, if anyone in the Boston area has a car and is willing to or really wants to go to Danbury, I am definately up for a road trip. Email me privately and maybe we can get something together.

It was a demand. Just get it now.

The more I listen to it the more I love it. Someone said something about how it sounds like the whole song is gonna fall apart and then suddenly it comes back together in a great way, well I definately have to agree there.

So, who thinks they open with the song TGST on the tour? The beginning of that song is just pure opening noise.

To be honest.. I don't care which song they open with.. this whole album rocks.. things like Suicide Note Pt 1 and Flood are sooooooo moody.. and Darryl's lead break in Flood is very cool..

I've listened to it 5 times now.. and everytime I do.. I just shake my head and wonder where he (Darryl) comes up with this stuff.. it goes from noise to groove to in-yer-face heavy in the blink of an eye.. and this album's songwriting is way improved over FBD, which I think was a little too much bizarre stuff after track 6.

I guess i'd say this one has all the things I liked about their previous 3 albums rolled into 1 !!

Skadz is right... JUST BUY IT.. THAT'S AN ORDER MISTER....

I have always been a "progressive-metal" fan - Queensryche, Crimson Glory, Fates Warning. I also love "technique- oriented" guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Paul Gilbert, David T Chastain, etc... In Dream Theater, I have found the ULTIMATE BAND!

I must admit, I bought Dream Theater's "Images and Words" with my free Columbia House certificate because I couldn't find anything else. 5 CDs, 2 bootlegs and one video later - they are my favorite band. I have been listening to them on my drive to/from work for over a year now and it's still as awe-inspiring as the first day I played their CD. Are there any other bands that I should check out that play this type of music?

Thanks for letting me into this "group"!

Replacing a member is a very chancy thing...

My band has gone through so many line up changes and we never seem to recouperate from each of the changes...of course a new member brings in something totally new...so it's also refreshing.... In this particular situation...I would have to say, although JP is definitely at the top of the list...Portnoy is one who would wreck the band if he left.... No one realizes how important he is to the arranging of the song... John Myung, although he seems extremely important to the mix COULD be replaced...here's my suggestion!!!

    5. Derek 4. Myung 3. Portnoy 2. Petrucci 1. Labrie With a three way tie between...Portnoy, Labrie, and Petrucci...

A singer is not easy to replace....

There is only ONE band that has survived from a Singer change...and that is Van Halen...and the reason behind that is simple...no one realized that David Lee Roth was not Van Halen.... Eddie Van Halen was Van Halen!
