That was done as I joke, I'm sure... there are several instances of
mis-heard lyrics, and that happens to be one of the funnier ones.. I'm
sure we could ruin about 5 or 6 other songs for you if you like... >:)

Actually, they would be about 18 to 1, concidering an average of 18-19
    posts in every 'jam.

    Anyone known what's going on?

While we're on the subject of fast guitarists...

I get so pissed off whenever I hear someone put down JP, Yngwie Malmsteen or
Paul Gilbert simply because they play fast and are technically gifted. I
think guys who take the time to learn their craft should be praised. I don't
think playing "slow" automatically means that you're playing with soul and
feeling. I think bursts of sheer speed can be just as fulfilling as a slow
    bluesy lick.

    It's CORRECTION MAN!!! :)

75 minutes is not the maximum length for a CD, it's 80 minutes. I have
several CD's longer than 75, dating back to the 3 discs on the very
first Jethro Tull boxed set(one of the first rock CD boxed sets). Many,
if not all, of the CD-R's (recordable CD's) seem to have a 74 minute
    limit on them.

I think I'm paraphrasing Bob Dylan, but I could be wrong:

"Why do heavy metal guitar solos have so many notes in them? Because they're
still trying to find the right ones."

I wonder of "Bob" said the same thing of classical music.

    Subject: DMB

The studio cds of DMB don't give them justice. They are a lot better in
concert. Some may consider DMB alternative, but I think they are more
    art-rock. They are pretty good.

That's *exactly* what I think of King's X. The studio
stuff I've heard seems rather underwhelming (it is good
though), but when I saw them open for the Scorps' on their
last tour, they were awesome! The crowd was really into
them, too. The only King's X CD I own is that _Building
Blox_ compilation that was offered over the 'net a few
            years ago.

On a related note, my friend caught Herman's drumstick
at that show (and I almost broke a few wrists, taking
the crowd's hands off him while he shoved it down his
pants to keep it safe). What's funny is that he caught
Satriani's guitar pick at the show in SJ. And we were
way far back from the stage this time (he did dive under
a few feet to get it when it bounced towards us and landed
on the floor). Some people are just lucky.

Sorry, for nitpicking, but actually, Awake is 75:02, and the maximum for a CD is 75:41, so it's a LITTLE more
possible that the songs happened to add up to just under the limit... I still think they probably shortened
songs a bit here and there, like you said... Just thought you'd like the exact numbers so you don't go around
thinking that DT absolutely stuffed every second of music they could on a CD (not that it couldn't happen - I
used to think that was why PMU ended so abruptly - they ran out of space :)

Even though I think I'm gonna go to the 'con, this seems like a damn good idea. Better yet - set up CUSeeMe (an internet video chat). I don't know about the logistics of it, but it'd be nice if we could set something up so the people that can't be there in person could still participate somehow.

Last night Metallica was on Muchmusic's "Loud". They didn't have a new video so it wasn't very good. However, one thing really cracked me up. When they were taking questions from the audience, one guy asked "Would you ever tour with SEPULTURA?" Lars quickly responded "No". The guy asked "Why?" Lars kind of hesitated and stuttered, and then kind of mumbled, "Cause they would blow us off the stage"

sorry for nitpicking, but actually, depending on your CD and CD player, all times are not equal.

ferinstance, I also check'd the time as soon as I read Ben's post, and sure enuff, it was 75:00. that was on my CD-ROM drive. after reading -your- post, I check'd my Japanese version of Awake, and lo! and behold, it was 75:01 on my CD-ROM drive. Now that my curiosity was piqued, I plopped both into my regular disc player and wonder of wonders! the domestic came in at 75:01, and the Japanese version clock'd at 75:02.

so let that be a lesson to y'all, and I hope this is the last post we see concerning this decidedly dull and pointless topic.
