Does anyone know what the lineup will be for the Savatage shows? I saw them
on the "Handful" tour @ L'amours in Brooklyn and they kicked ass. Alex
Skolnick was playing an acoustic guitar outside the club at about 3pm and
unfortunately I didn't have my guitar for him to autograph. I wish he
could've stayed on as the lead guitarist...

    | Exactly. Look at JP's solo in Voices. Anyone who can...
    | Wait a minute... That sounds like the start of a BLANKET
    | STATEMENT... I better rephrase that... Listen to the
    | Voices guitar solo and then see if you can honestly say
    | that fast players can't play FAST with soul.

You're NEVER going to believe this, but as I was sitting here reading your
post, "voices" was playing!!! It wasn't at the solo, but it's still cool
    nonetheless...

I had the same problem when I used to take lessons. If I started playing too
many scalar passages, my instructor would also say "okay, slow it down and
play with more feeling". That used to piss me off to no end.

Does anyone know if the first Crimson Glory album is available on CD? I taped
it off a radio show years ago and sound has pretty much died on my cassette.
If anyone has any info on how I can get it or wants to trade (I have almost
1000 CDs now...), please let me know.

Although our wedding date is not until June 1997, we've lined up a dj for
the wedding reception. He is a friend of my fiancee. Since DT is my
favorite band, I must have a DT song played at my wedding. The question
is what is a suitable DT song for a wedding? I suggested ACOS but my
fiancee said hell no to that one :)

    --------
I got the Fates Warning shirt, that were offered awhile back, in the mail
Saturday. Basically it is the Fates Logo on the front and some quote on
the back with alt.music.fates.warning under the quote. For anyone who
also got one of these shirts, do you know what song the quote comes from?

    ----
Alos I have noted that alt.music.dream-theater and
alt.music.fates-warning have be removed from my newsserver. I guess they
    are not official (bogus) newsgroups?

    Greetings YTSEFOLKS,

Heard a song on the radio yesterday from the new Steve Morse Band album (can't remember the title) and thought that my fellow jammer's mught want to pick this up. It was strictly an instrumental song but, GOD!, did that sucker rock! Apparently Steve Morse has replaced Richie Blackmore in Deep Purple now but has released a solo album anyways. Must get if the rest is as good as the one I heard. Also heard that the new Rush album is coming out in August. And one final thing, having just returned from Europe and getting the chance to Bernd (of Superior), I must recommend that any on you who don't have their CD, to get it now. Thoroughly impressive work by a fellow jammer. I have turned several of my friends on to this and will be getting at least 10 more copies for them. Don't miss out on this one also...

    Later. Steve

I don't think the person was talkin about changing from Dickinson to Blaze, but Dianno to Dickinson. Maiden were much more popular with Bruce than Dianno or Blaze. A lot of my friends have not even heard Dianno sing, yet he recorded the first two albums and Bruce started on the third.

Moonspell, eh? They are one of my favorite bands. They are from Portugal. Whoever told you that they were German and had prog-style vocals was way off. The singer sounds more like somebody imitating Dracula than anything else. _Wolfheart_ is a cool concept album about werewolves if you can get past the vocals. They're not that bad. Just MHO...

Hiya, To the person who said IM didn't survive a singer change and went on to talk about Blaze and Dickenson. I believe the post was about Dickenson replacing Iron Maiden's first singer. Ya know that really stupid looking leather and spike fat guy. Dickenson replaced fat-boy after leaving his other band (Wolfsbane maybe?). I don't know why I'm writing about IM as I really get sleepy everytime I listen to them-snooze)

OK, Pantera-Is there actual singing on "Southern Trendkill"? I bought "Far Beyond Hope" after hearing "Cemetery Gates" from the "Demon Knight" soundtrack. I love the vocals on "Gates" because there is actually a tone behind the words and the guy has a great voice, but "Far Beyond Crap" bores the hell out of me. The growling vocals just sound so...well..stupid. Only Sepultura and Korn can growl with any degree of aplomb. If Philip sings on "Trendkill" I might buy it if he continues to growl like a feral canine humping a cheese grater I think I'll leave the one copy our music store bought lying there to rot. Also, does anyone know why rex thinks he is God's gift to bassdom. I think his bass lines are actually very simple-the bass lines I put behind my band are more complex, and I've only been playing six-string bass for four years. Let's hear it for studying Jazz and classical. Seriously, if anyone knows why he is good or well decent or well just doesn't plain suck can you please explain it to me. Miller, Pattitucci, Myung, or Ellefson could all eat Rex for breakfast and floss with Rex's G-String.

    Cheers!

    Dear Ytsejammers,

Please, _please_ if at all possible, make an attempt to request the latest King's X singles off of the forthcoming album, "Ear Candy". I know this is NDTC, but this is something that could happen to DT in the future if not averted. Good music does not deserve this type of reception, IMHO. I didn't post the entire message, but if you would like more information (radio stations, e-mail addresses), please e-mail me privately at your earliest convenience. Thanks for the bandwidth.

    Sincerely,

I can't believe the poor response from radio around the country regarding the new single from "Ear Candy". I would have thought that this might be better received than Ty's message would suggest. I've been a big fan of King's X ever since I heard Out of the Silent Planet and it'd be a real shame to let a band like this fade away. So to all those who would, call the radio stations and tell you wanna hear King's X.

On another note :) I'd like to let all of you know about a band that recently toured with Joe Satriani, called "The Mustard Seeds". I must confess to being a bit biased since the drummer is a good friend of mine, but they have some very obvious King's X influences and are worth taking a look at. I don't know how much distribution their CD is getting, but for those who are interested, they are on Entourage records out of Hollywood, CA. The band members include Matt Bissonette (David Lee Roth band) and a couple of well respected (at least in LA) studio musicians.

I'm afraid we're going to have to fight the music powers that be all the way into reviving an obviously lagging quality music scene.. I see an almost purposefull lack of musicianship in today's popular music. If you can play.. it seems the records companies and radio stations don't care. Bands like Verve Pipe, Rancid, Garbage (couldn't name them better myself) are clogging up the airwaves.

I know I'm preaching, but damnit.. if we don't at least try to do something about this.. music will keep falling to the lowest bidder.. I'm tired of it..

Nr. 5... Definately IMO (although some on the Freaks-list beg to differ)

But Genesis ??? They did thrive if you're talking about album-sales... But artistically they just plain sucked with PC (well, at least after Hackett left) ---> IMO <---> IMHO <---> IMVHO <---

Personally, I'm really looking forward to the next Genesis album. That is, if they dare to pick a singer that doesn't look/sound like PC, but one that takes them back onto the road to musical adventure... Someone like the 'big scaled one' (Freaks know who) who's in desperate need of a good band/album right now...

(DTC coming up!) About JLB... Could they possibly have picked a better replacement... ? ..Does such a stupid question deserve an answer... I don't think so ! Same goes for #5 IMNSHO... ;-)

Well, that's enough for me right now... Btw, sorry about mentioning 'nr.5'... Has anyone seen that movie 'Short Circuit' ? If you did see it : "NR. 5 IS ALIVE!!!" :D
