And... why haven't we heard a new Metallica single on the radio
since the album comes out in less than a month? I still haven't
heard the new Scorp's single here in the Bay Area, though they
are playing it in the Central Valley. Radio here is so messed up.
Instead, we are threated to an hour+ deal on the new Soundgarden
CD (not bad, but I think it's overhyped).

Okay...so I'm a late bloomer. I bought Awake during the fall of whatever
year that was ('94, I think) while waiting for Extreme's "Waiting for the
Punchline". At least that's how I remember it. Just YESTERDAY I bought
I&W--recommended to me by some jammer(s) as my next DT CD. Wow!!!!
Thanks. I think it was Heath who told me to go get it. Well...whoever
you were, Thanks a million!! I haven't had such a worthwhile CD purchase
in a long while! The last CDs that knocked me on my ass like that were
Awake and Waiting for the Punchline. Maybe the next paycheck I get will
    fund ACoS. :)

Is it my disc or does the first track (or is it PMU, or is
PMU the first track, I don't know anymore. It's too new and too good an
album for my little brain to process! :) Maybe it's short term memory
loss. :) ) that just cuts out after 8 minutes and 11 seconds? Forgive me
if this is in a FAQ somewhere. I should have checked there first.
    Sorry to waste bandwidth...

Yesterday was to be DT day. I was going to buy I&W and search for the JP
Instructional video. Umm...I seem to have misplaced the info on that. I
hope someone would be so kind as to remind me how I can get my hands on it.

Okay...I did the first vinyl, cassette, & CD...
First concert: Pink Floyd at Nassau Coliseum in August 1989.
It was an extra show added for filming a video,
which I believe ended up being "Delicate Sound of Thunder".

On to speed, feeling, lots of notes, etc.:
I agree with the idea that CONTROL is the most important mark of a good
guitarist. Speed is great, but you've got to be able to navigate the
fretboard and know what to do with the speed. JP has great control.
I can't really play very fast, because I'm admittedly too lazy.
When I do go faster I have a hard time slowing down into something
different or breaking out of that three-note-per-string scalar pattern that
got emblazoned in my head or whatever rhythmic pattern my right hand
    has locked on to.

As far as another type of control is concerned. I also don't have the
facility to use triads, scalar patterns, chords, pentatonic patterns to
bulid a solo in a synergistic manner. I can't synthesize all of those
lessons very well. JP is one of a number of guitar players who have that
physical control as well as knowing where on the fretboard all the notes
are and when to use them. Others I'd throw in there are Steve Vai, Joe
Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt, Tuck Andress. I'm sure there are others...
Although I haven't listened to much of his work, I know Alex Skolnick is
one of those from some lessons he gave me before I quit, because I thought I
couldn't afford it anymore (not that he charges anymore than the next
guy--fair prices I just needed to pay off some bills). Maybe I'll go back
for a while. I'm sure I'll learn something valuable...Maybe I just have to
    practice...

Notice no bad-mouthing here. It's all positive and IMHO. So I hope no
flames appear. It's been kind of hostile out here... :)

Do you mean to say "I was dissappointed..." ??? If so...I am disturbed
that you can not grasp a concept such as the one I was trying to

joined, starving in CA.......Maiden was NOT well known before dickenson
    joined.....
If You would open your ears...maybe you can get my point:

It is rare for a band to reach two different times of large success with
two different singers....now you can define 'large success'
differently....but If you call Iron Maiden before and after Dickenson,
'Large Success' ....well then John...you are fooling yourself....

I know there are quite a few of us on the 'Jam, but I don't think we could make
a very good wave. I doubt we'd even fill an entire row of a section, much less
make it all the way around the stadium/arena. If enough of us Brians make it
to YtseCon III we might be able to get one going around a table, though.

    Wassup Jammers -

Just got the Superior CD and it does indeed kick gluteous max (to quote Geddy). Bernd - you RULE! Great sound you're getting, lotsa balls and crunch (and as we all know - that's where it's at!)

BUT!!??!?!?! - did anyone tell me I was getting a USED CD for my $19? I don't remember if they did, but this is definitely used! There was no shrink-wrap; the jewel case is scratched and smudged, the CD itself had lots of "crap" on it, and even the booklet had stuff on the pages (did I read something about chocolate???)

So far it hasn't skipped or anything, and the music sounds great, so I have no plans to return it, but I think I should have been advised that I was ordering a used CD? Anybody else get a used one?
