Are there any good prog rock magazines out there that don't just come out
4 times a year? My subscription to Rolling Stone (ugh!) just ran out,
which I couldn't be happier about, and I would like to get something
decent, can anyone help me out?

    Just some silly shit:

    1. I noticed people disproving the John Petrucci Ytsejam subcription with some
pretty technical stuff, but I wonder did anyone notice this simple giveaway?:
    >jpetur@nylink.net

I seriously doubt JP would screw up his last name for a log in :)

    2. I'm REAL late on this one, but wanted to throw in a couple of my "firsts"

    a) First Album (vynyl) - KISS Destroyer - age 9 (my parents suspected illness)
    b) Second Album (vynyl) - RUSH 2112 - age 11 (my parents were now convinced)
    c) First Concert - The US FESTIVAL - 1983, San Bernadino CA (400,000 people and 3 days
of non stop rockin and partyin!)

To be more specific, it'll be on July 2, so I'd guess they'd be in
    No-Cal/So-Cal around the same dates.

They'd better show; OZZY screwed us twice on his recent 'Retirement
(renamed, Ozzy) Sucks' tour, with last-minute cancellations; I heard he did
    to other cities as well.

    >>Who could forget a guy from Fresno?

Zach, is this good or bad? I know Fresno has a bad rap., but the bad stuff
usually stays within the lower-class minority communities (I'm not trying
to show prejudice, but this happens to be a FACT).

    It least its not Bakersfield.

Well, I can tell you that his last release was a "best of" album that had
all the biggest singles plus a few live versions of things. His stuff is
readily availible here in Canada and I'm sure if you go down to your local
HMV they can special-order it for you. You might also be interested in his
last band "Max Webster" (in case you didn't already know about them).

    Hope this helps,

According to The Big Book of Death, Terry Kath shot himself trying to

    Sorry for the 2nd post,but...
I recently remember some Y'Jammer mentioning they had a difficult time
finding Shadow Gallery's 'Carved in Stone'

Well.. I've found it and Savatge's 'Dead Winter Dead', all of Extreme's, all
but the first two King'sX, the first two Galactic Cowboys & Atomic Opera,
Vovoid, Helloween et al. in the USED CD section of the main Wherehouse
Records..here in Fresno. What's weird, is that I couldn't find most of these
in the NEW CD's; whoever brought them in-Thanks.

You might try some of the online CD sources. I've gotten DT's WDADU and
LatM through them; I could never find them in the local stores. They seem
to be honest, fairly rapid (2-3 weeks) and fairly priced (comparable or
BETTER than new record store prices). The selections are also pretty
good--including imports & singles--I'm not too sure about any boots:

Besides, "John" misspelled his name in the address.

Ironic that I should be the one to point this out :^/>

And as Andrew Miller pointed out that no one really fell for
it since we've learned that almost anyone can fake an address,
that means those who believed (out of desperation?) it when
"Mike Portnoy" posted a message to the list from _Mike Bahr's_
*address* (no faking) were really stupid 8^}>

    G.A.S. HALFWAY POINT UPDATE!!!

We are now halfway through the month of May, and the number of G.A.S.
participants has reached 50! We're right on pace for the goal of 100
'jammers. For those of you who haven't yet participated, I would greatly
appreciate your joining forces in this, as I find it interesting to know
where the general interest of the YtseJam as a whole lies. Top 10 lists
(that can include DT) can be E-mailed to:

    syoung@primenet.com

and will be received until May 31st, at 11:59pm. Lists will be tallied and
a non-DT band/artist will be crowned on June 1st (my wife's birthday), and
complete results (ALL bands/artists received and number of votes) will be
posted on or about that day.

REMINDER: Please send all entries in a 10-band format. I've been getting
FIVES and I even got a ONE. I'm not going to name names on that one. We'll
just say Donald D. No, let's make that D. Dintaman. Anyway, let's stick to
the format, eh? C'mon, Don. You've GOT to like someone besides Barbara
    Streisand. :)

    ------------------------------

King's X, Shadow Gallery, and Yes are also strong contenders for a spot in
    the Top 5.

Rush and QR have been 1 or 2 votes apart since this thing started, though
    Rush has never trailed.

16 days left before the deadline - plenty of time - We're still shooting
for 100 participants (we're halfway there!)
So, get out and vote, you guys.
    C'mon, it'll be fun!
Muchos thankos to those who have played the game already - you guys rule.

    Steve from Tucson
    syoung@primenet.com

"There's not a man, woman or child alive that doesn't enjoy a lovely
    beverage." - David Letterman

P.S. Of course, James, Mike, Derek, and the Johns are more than welcome to
participate as well. I think it would be of great interest for the 'jammers
to get an idea of what DT is listening to nowadays. Whaddaya say, guys?
    Guys?

Not much has changed: I've got 4th row for The Monkees
this summer, I'm planning to go see Lollapalooza for Metallica, and
Edward Van Halen is as much an inspiration today as he was 7 years
ago. But, I see more shows now than I did back then, I wear hearing
protection regularly, and I listen to this excellent group called Dream
    Theater.

Who's the greatest mudskipper of them all?
