    Ok, I got two more:

Satan Oscillate My Metallic Sonatas (Bonus points for the source of
    this one)

Ever wonder why the word Palindrome isn't a palindrome? Here's an even
better question: Why is a box of Preparation H so clearly marked "Do Not
Take Orally"? Was someone really that dumb?

And yes, Bafu is that cool in person. To find out for yourself, donate
to the "Bafu at Ytsecon III Fund." (No, there isn't one yet, but we
    should start one.)

I finally got a chance to listen to Tori today. Got my hands on a copy
of Little Earthquakes. Not bad. I have to listen to it again, though.

OK, it's 3:15 in the morning. I guess I should stop rambling now.

    Hey there!

Well I'm still at university and in the middle of my exams but when I go
home for the summer I'm gonna *hopefully* be able to check my mail, by
logging on to the uni BBS.

ADVICE: when you have 9am exams 3 days in a row do not go out and get
pissed after the first one. Wait till they're all done. (Speaking from
experience - Although the exam wasn't too bad, so maybe it helped!)

To further confuse this CD length stuff, I read in a newspaper yesterday
that they've now invented even higher density CDs that can store something
like 120 mins of 8 channel music (as opposed to the conventional 2
channels) OR 8 hours of high quality 24 bit sound! Watch DTs song lengths
go into orbit! And we thought ACOS was long....

    Cheers... Edd.

"Due to a massive number of requests, here is 'Ear Candy' by King's X..."
(Or something like that) Anyway, they actually played a KX tune!
Congrats fans! You made a dent in corporate radio!

Heck, if KX can get on the radio, why not DT?! WYSP has a homepage:
    http://jdbshow.com
Send John DeBella an email (jdbshow@aol.com) and request DT!

A correction: Musikfest '96 in Bethlehem, PA is Aug 10 thru 18.

Sun. 11 - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

    Hi all

it would seem that the great debate "is Geoff Tate a woman" is now finally over,
and we can now return to normality (whatever that may be). That had to be one of
the most boring and most pointless threads to have reared its ugly head on the
Jam so far: even the infamous "top 5 lists" and the slagging off of Blind Melon
(or Shannon Hoon, to be more specific) was more interesting.

Now it's time to shamelessly promote a relatively unknown band that I think is
great: SKYCLAD. I first heard of them on the jam at the start of the year (I
forget who mentioned them, but a million thanks), and I am now the proud owner
of their last 3 albums. I know of no other band that plays this sort of metal.
To quote Kerrang magazine "Pagan metal returneth! Fronted by barking mad Martin
Walkyier, Skyclad are perhaps the finest and pottiest heavy metal band these
islands have produced since Judas Priest; unmistakably English, loveably
eccentric and monstrously heavy ... also the only heavy metal band on the planet
with a fiddle player". I wasn't too sure about the "monstrously heavy" bit until
last night, when I was fortunate enough to see them live. This band are amazing
in the studio, but even better live. So much energy came across, and it was
clear to see just how much fun they were having (we were too). Just how the
woman on fiddle (George Biddle) manages to play, bounce around the stage like
a frog on amphetamines *and* head-bang all at the same time baffled me. This
is a band you really should go and see if they play anywhere near you.
Warning: these guys (and gal) are pagans, drink beer and openly admit to
smoking weed. They are, however, extremely honest and socially aware. They are
    definately *not* rock stars.

Dream Theater content: I didn't see anybody at the concert wearing a Dream
    Theater tee shirt.

    stay safe and happy listening

         Hey all,

Just read an interesting quote from a radio interview with Tori Amos:

That's why I do covers sometimes. The idea isn't to replicate what
another person has done. I don't think so. I think people can
improve on things, or just take it from another angle. I mean, I'd
love for Metallica to do "Silent All These Years."

Wow, now that would be interesting...<G> I wonder if she has heard
or commented on the DT cover of "Winter"... I know she has heard the
Kevin Moore version of "Song for Eric" and liked it....

    Wassup, all? Question:

Why are some of you so interested in set lists from various concerts? Will you
not go see the band if you don't like what they're playing? Does it have to do
with bootlegs? Is it just a plain general interest? Help me here. People ask
what setlists consisted of and I'm not understanding the gain. Thanks!

    Steve

p.s. New Pantera is pretty good; new Rage is great and new DMB is good but
sounds like the leftovers from their UTTD.

    Hey all ....

Someone asked if Bafu was really cool in person. Well, of course,
he is. He came over for the shows in NY and NJ in December and was
definately a cool guy. Just doesn't look anything like you'd expect, but
most of the people didn't :)

Went to see Guster and Bim Skala Bim last night. Cool show.
Guster is a very interesting band. 3 guys, 2 on acoustic guitars and one
on percussion, mostly bongos. Very cool, and much better live than on
CD. Bim is just a fun Ska band. Dark Side of the Moon done Ska is
just an interesting thing to hear :)

    Well, back to work.....

Okay...I'm kind of on a tear with this DT thing, a new influence in my life. Within the past 3 days, my DT collection went from Awake to that album, ACoS, and I&W. So...while I'm shelling out the dough...

I found LatM (I think as a German import) for $17.99. Sure it was on sale, but it's been on sale for what seems like weeks. Is that a good price?

    Howdy,

This is my first post, after reading 100 or so to catch up. Only took me a month :) (gotta do some work now and then, too)... Anyways: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1ST CONCERT - Seal & Crofts (backed up by Harry Chapin and Michael Murphy)

Something like $4.75 and Seals & Crofts still played 2+ hours after the backups. Concert ended around 2AM.

1ST ALBUM- The Monkees, Instant Replay (you may stop laughing, now! :)

My dad worked at a radio station and he brought home one of those promotional copies. My best friend and I thought it actually sounded better (how couldn't it?) at higher speed. 78RPM didn't even come close to what we could manage using the eraser end of a pencil :)... We were unsuccessfull, though, at finding any hidden satan-worship-type-messages at any speed and in either direction :(

    1ST REAL ALBUM - Alvin & The Chipmunks :)

1ST REAL PROG ALBUM - YES - The YES Album

    1ST CD - DT, ACoS

I don't even own a CD player :). Got ACoS as a gift, but it works great in the CD-ROM player hooked up to the machine at work! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, it's time I got back to work ;)

    Latah,
