Just had to get on this wagon:

First 8 Track: Kiss - Peter Criss (I did not actually own an 8 track but I had
                                                    the tape anyway. Go Figure)
    First LP: Kiss - Alive!
First Tape: I think it was Metallica - "Master of Puppets"
First CD: Shit, it was probably a Kiss disc.
First Video: Kiss - Animalize Live Uncensored. Still have it and it costs
$50 bones to buy it as an import from Japan!
First Concert: Kiss & Queensryche 1984

    In my deck now:

Spacewalk - A tribute to Ace Frehley
    Hurricane - Over the edge
    Armored Saint - Delirious Nomad
    LA Blues Authority
    Dokken - One Live Night

I just came home from seeing Savatage at the Birch Hill Night Club and I
have 3 things to say about it. Wow, Wow, and Wow again! The performance
that they put on only one band that I know of can even come in the same
class as them. I think you guys know what group that is. :) There were 3
opening bands. I wasn't too fond of any of them, but Savatage which came on
    at 12:30am, kicked serious ass!

At the show, I just happened to run into our pal, Derek Sherinian. I only
got to talk to him beliefly. But man, he is one great guy. He asked me if I
was one of the online ytsejammers and I said yep. He says hi to you all.
I asked him a few questions. From what I remember, Sherinian told me that
DT has 8 songs complete and they're in the process of completely Metropolis
Part II! :) We talked about a few things, that I can't remember at this
moment. The only negative thing that he did bring up to me is that they
aren't going to release their next album when we all thought DT would.
Sherinian told me that the tentative date for releasing their next album in
Februrary 1997. It's a shame that we have to wait that long for their next
album. But at least they aren't rushing through it and they're putting
    together another masterpiece.

Thanks enough for me. It's now 4:30am and I just drove 80 miles to get back
home, so I think I'll stop in IRC for a sec to talk to you guys and then
hit the sack. I'll see you all later.

You all rule, you just do.

Yes, I've had one too many. The party's over, so while I'm still
peaking on this buzz, I decided to (what else) log in! Logical my fucking
    butt...

John Mastin is here. I mean HERE, in Arizona, nay, in my humble
apartment! I thought that was kinda cool, since he's a Jammer from
Jersey. Any of you who find yourselves visiting the deserts of endless
heat and cactus blossoms must stop by my house and let me mix you a
Waffler (a custom Bahr drink!) it really tastes like buttered, syruped
Belgian Waffles, and includes like ten liquers, I hope I remember how I
did it for next time. John enjoyed his brief taste of this concoction. So
far, that makes the list o' visitors include...

            Mark Tedhams Brian Fieg
            Hui-Chi Koby Fuessler
            Keith Aspinall Steve Young
hmmm.. there's someone in Tempe that I'm forgetting
            Doc Mosh Brian Cox
            Nate Bradley John Mastin

... and the list of Jammers that have visited my humble home
grows even by the day. After the big let-down, they usually hit a few
pubs before they head home. :) It should be a rule: visit the home of
the CD guy, and walk away with something unique, weird, and collectible,
even if it's just a photo of Mike's cat chomping on his Awake CD. The
kittens (Han, Luke, Leia, and Belle) are doing just great. Tori's in
better health now that she's shrinking to normal proportions.

Scoobacca (my band) just got a new lead singer, the Drewmeister.
This guy is from the LaBrie school of vocal idolatry. He digs DT and
about shit his shorts when he saw all the CDs (which he immediately
secured copies of... well, at least, of WDATU, AQ, and Cygnus, and
cassettes of Subcon and AD) and I have a feeling Scoobacca will go on a
bit of a more progressive bent now that Drew is singing for us. We were
already playing Pull Me Under. We added The Mirror last month. Drew wants
to add either Take The Time or Metropolis... IF we can do 'em. Who knows!
I tell ya, I can't wait till we do our promo pack so I can send a free
one to people on the Jam.

Ahhhh... drinks taste better from a Darth Vader mug.

            I wonder if I'll get an end-of-jam?

Have you ever noticed that your own farts smell OK? I heard that
once from someone and I've found it to be true even unto today. I wonder
if the band members ever ruminate about such ponderous topics. Ive been
eating mexican food all day, and drinking for the last 3 hours, so you do
    the math.

Cats really dig Eve... they go right to sleep.. anything else by
DT agitates them and they give up and walk away. Go figure.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHAH! It's a really pliable night to be alive.
Isn't it just flexible? See ya later, I'm phasing.

    Hey all howzitgoin and shit...

heh. Still buzzing off all them drinks.

OK, at this point all the USA orders of WDATU from #501-1000 have
been mailed, and most of the International orders have been mailed, and
the rest of the International ones that haven't yet been sent, will be
sent within the next week. I intend to be 100% caught-up on shipping by
then. Thanks to everyone who's had the patience to wait on me. :) :)

Carpe Diem is finished??! YES!! I can't wait to hear it!! I still
have all the USA Jammers orders, so as soon as I get the word from
Marcel, I'll send the funds off and let the CDs be sent. I'm still
waiting to hear how things are going on that... I know that word from
overseas CD projects can be sporadic at times, as my own updates and info
can be for the European DT following. I try to remedy that when I can.
For anyone in the USA that has not sent me an order for Marcel's Carpe
Diem CD, what the hell are you waiting for?? Another Subconscious is
making itself available right in front of you, and you haven't ordered
yet? Personally, I wouldn't miss it. It's lonely at the top... AND the
bottom, AND everywhere in between, and I was really hoping someone else
would make some cool stuff for us to enjoy. :)

The Galactic Cowboys are IMHO the greatest nobodies that ever
made music. Their songs deserve so much more... THEY should be the ones
that are pondered and puzzled over, not Nirvana and Pearl Jam. THEY
should be the ones on MTV Spring Break, not Presidents and Goo Goo Dolls.
THEY should be having a huge gala album premiere, not Soundgarden (well,
actually, I dig Soundgarden. but you know what I'm talking about.) From
I'm Not Amused to Arrow and everything in between, their songs really
have a purpose and a drive all their own. The self-titled album can be
immature at times, but it is mostly much more profound and worthy of many
a listen. Their cumulative ideas up to that point are contained in a
single expression of music that is their debut. Space In Your Face defies
the sophomore jinx with real progression lyrically and some wilder
harmony and musical arrangements, and some better riffwork and tighter
(less-wandering) song assembly. Machine Fish is an album that defies all
the stereotypes. It ages VERY well. About the only songs that have not
still ranked up there for me are The Struggle, Stress, and Pattin'
Yourself On the Back (which is really just a fun song anyway). You
actually CAN Feel The Rage, especially when you consider what they've
been through... the song is almost surreal. Fear Not is a metal anthem,
enough said. If this were 1987 it would be #1 on the charts for a month.
In This Life and Idle Minds crank with a groove that only the Cowboys can
quite define. Easy To Love goes beyond simple balladry with lyrics that
actually have thought behind them and a premise that maybe isn't explored
quite enough... is the love that's there the kind we really want? Red
Sun is fantastic... I really dig it. In a Lonely Room is another song
with harmonies that define what the GC are about. The true masterpieces
on this album, the reasons for buying it, are the other three that
remain. Psychotic Companion, 9th of June, and Arrow. PC is the pinnacle
of their harmony work, and rocks like Tom Sawyer by Rush... a LOT like
TS, even though you can't draw parallels musically OR lyrically. That is
IMHO the mark of a great song. 9th of June has some of everything that GC
does well, and it blends to make a fantastic groove. And Arrow... I'm
still pondering this one. I sometimes wonder if maybe Kevin Moore wrote
it. Sing along and see if you don't wonder a bit too... even if the
lyrics reach the point at which they go over the top, the musicianship is
tasteful and full of feeling, and executed masterfully.

Well.. shit. That was a mouthful. More in another episode of...
    YtseJammmmm! Same YtseTime, Same YtseChannel!!

I'd just like to point out that this was said about the black album when it was first released back in '91. Debates raged around for years and still do to this day, I fear the same discussions coming up about this album... Another thing I don't like is people judging it by one song. Does any album sound like one song? No, and I don't believe this one will either. BTW, I definitely like the song (called Until It Sleeps BTW), however I agree that it doesn't sound much like Damage Inc. However, with tracks like Bitch, and Mouldy on the record, something's gotta be a little bit more heavy in there. Also, anybody who's heard 2 X 4 knows that it doesn't sound like Until It Sleeps.

It isn't important, and it isn't really cool unless you want it to be. For some reason, it's cool, so I guess we should all value it until it becomes uncool, whenever that will be. It's something that's happened to me quite a few times, and I never could figure out how or why.

Robert Andrew Jurado asked on Jam #1557

    > Okay...Okay...What the hell is it with Tori Amos anyway? Why do so > many jammers mention her?

Why does KevMo love Tori so much... Why did DT cover Tori's 'Winter'... A lot of Jammers mention her because a lot of Jammers love her music ! Just ask about her here and we'll be up to our knees in digests again. I got into her music after hearing about her on the Jam. Afterwards I asked about her on the Marillion-list (Freaks). They love her there too... So I decided to pick up all her stuff. So far I've got all three of her albums and 6 singles. I guess she's the Yin to my DT-Yang... Food for thought & all that... If you're mainly into the heavy-metal side of DT, don't bother... If you're interested in real emotions, get her albums. Although I wouldn't call her music 'Prog', a lot of people who love prog-rock, seem to love Tori... she's very special... (imo)

Btw, I would suggest picking up 'Little Earthquakes' or 'Under The Pink' first... Boys For Pele is IMO much harder to get into.

If you're into Nirvana, get her 'Crucify'-single. It has a beautiful cover of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' on it. It also contains 'Angie' (Stones) and 'Thank You' (Zeppelin).

Hope I'm not going overboard again, I did mention KevMo + DT :)

I don't think many of us really hate that song... It's just about the closest they've ever come to pop-music. I don't think Jammers want DT to be associated with pop. A lot of Marillion-fans wouldn't mind it if Kayleigh would never be played at concerts ever again. But they still love to hear it on the radio. It's kind of a love-hate thing... I love Another Day, but it's still one of my least favourite DT songs.

How about 'Lethal' ? I've got an album of theirs on tape somewhere (I think it was called 'Programmed') and it sounded a bit like QR... Anyone ?

Are we ? Damn... :) I don't think anyone is really attacking him... We're just having fun, aren't we ? We're just giving him another chance to scream at us about not needing coffee. Nothing wrong with that, is there ? :) ;) :D ;D
