All I can think of is speeding through the icy streets, inches
from death from any angle, with me at the wheel, Jaison John riding
shotgun, soiling his shorts, Paul Cashman and Bafu Vai in the back
cracking jokes and doing their damnedest to find a restaurant that didn't
exist. I can't wait till Ytsecon III! :)

Will EVERYBODY please contribute to that damn survey already?

Shannon Hoon sang back-up for Guns'n Roses
Ted Nugent once opened a show for the Supremes
Deep Purple never released a 1987 album called _The House of Blue Light_,
even though I own that particular piece of music.........

Just some ridiculous tidbits from Rolling Stone mags 25th Anniversary
Music Encyclopedia, or something like that......I spent 2+ hours at
Barnes and Nobles perusing that article, a big list of bands with short bios

DT wasn't in it, even tho it was a 1995 thing.....on the bright side,
    neither was Vanilla Ice

To Pat (Not sure which one): Haven't seen your FW T-Shirt question
answered yet publicly, so here goes: The quote is the entire lyric
content of the 41-second Title track to the album _No Exit_

The shirt itself is pretty cool, got a lot of notice (but no
recognition) while I was walking through a hospital wearing it

There was a time when Metallica represented everything I liked about
metal. Loud, fast, angry, agressive, and impressive guitar work.
What's up with this new stuff? I heard the new Metallica single last
night (the title escapes me at present). It's not that I don't like it
    - it's actually quite good - but it's not a Metallica song. I hope the
rest of the album isn't like the single. I'd hate to think I waited 5
years for Metallica to release an AIC disc.

So, after all the rave reviews here (DTC, see? :) I picked up Pantera's
_Trendkill_ today, my first Pantera purchase. I'd heard other stuff
that I didn't like from them, but I needed some new metal. This stuff
is good! Reminiscent of mid-to-recent Anthrax, I think. Big surprise,
since Dimehead Darrell, or whatever his name is this week, soloed on
_Stomp 442_. But, dammit, this is what Metallica used to be about! Why
is Pantera the only band writing this stuff anymore?

The other thing about _Trendkill_ that I think is cool as shit is that
they included URL's to Pantera pages (which I have yet to check out).
This is the first CD I've ever bought that had URLs in it. I remember
buying echolyn and thinking, "Cool! They included an e-mail address!"
You think DT is gonna include some e-mail and web info in the next
release? How do we suggest this to the band?

New Metallica played here in San Antonio on the 16th. I'm not too fond of
it. For any other band it might be OK. But for Met, it sounds a little
weak. Sounds a bit sell-outish. Have to wait to hear more off the album,
but I fear they may have reach their peak. At least with some of the fans
that have followed since '83. That's all.

I think you guys are wrong to attack the Mojoman. Despite all of his
recent flames, he really is a decent guy. He would not hurt a fly, although
he could probably toss evryone on the jam over his shoulder. There is no
need to speculate how someone is in real life as opposed to on the jam. We
are all here to have fun, right? So let's all lighten up until DT, Fates,
Rush or some other prog band releases an album.

I heard the new Metallica single on Q104.3 here in N.Y. I am very
dissappointed. It took me about two minutes to even realize that it was
Metallica. Obviously they are more concerned with record sales than musical
integrity. IMHO they've lost it, there will be no more Damage Inc.

I heard it yesterday, here in montreal (on CHOM FM)
    and it sounds PROGRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember when I wrote this a few days ago:
    >There should be 14 songs on their new album, probably 3 minute-

well, I am totally wrong. the new single is excellent, it's called "until
    it sleeps"
and it kinda starts off slowly (ballad-type) then speeds up a bit (only a bit!)
there's also background vocals on the single.

Metallica might open the doors to bands like Dream Theater and Fates Warning
    with
    this kind of music!!!!!!!!!!!! Great!!!

    >Okay...Okay...What the hell is it with Tori Amos anyway? Why do so many

I'm not sure there's a good answer to that; it just seems that people who
like Dream Theater also like other bands which are progressive, but not
prog metal. Tori Amos and Marillion seem to get top honors for this.
Not being a musician (ahem! Prog fan who's not a musician! We exist!),
I can't say if there is really something in common among the three bands
beyond being progressive music that is very close to being popular in the
mainstream. (Not that the bands themselves are mainstream; their music
just seems to have caught on better than, say, Shadow Gallery.)

    Hey all,

James and Jason were (are?) here in Australia doing a promo tour, and I
heard the new single on the radio. IMHO it bites... Kirk's solo is
embarassing and really, really, not-with-it so to speak. Seems several
years a go somebody played a practical joke on him and covered his
wah-wah pedal with superglue....because it's still stuck on his foot. :)
