For those of you who have already ordered the "Carpe Diem" CD from Marcel
Berkhout: Be prepared for a great experience. For those of you who haven't
yet: Order it now!
I got the CD - a live performance of Dream Theater at Bospop (Open Air
Festival), July 8th 1995, the Netherlands - two days ago and I have to say I
am impressed. From the into up to the last notes of the encore (6:00), sound
quality is excellent. Maybe even a bit *too* excellent, at times :-)
"A Change of Seasons" sounds like it ought, and the drum intro to "6:00"
sounds almost like it did on "Awake". As a matter of fact, apart from the
fact that some *twat* found it necessary to talk during one or two songs
(his voice is sometimes audible in the background - after all, it's an
audience DAT recording), the quality is damn-near commercial. And do
remember that this is a limited edition CD, much in the same fashion as Mike
Bahr's.
I am really glad I bought it, also because I was present at the actual
concert and cried my eyes out when they *really* played ACoS. If you're
interested in ordering it, too, contact Marcel at v932407@si.hhs.nl.
Thanks, Marcel!

They used to. I can't figure out why they've never mentioned it in more

Why do a lot of people hate the song Another Day? I think it is one of
the best ballads ever released.

I think the answer is ENERGY. The riddles said it should end in the letters GRY and it is something you use everyday. It did not say that it had to be in the exact order of GRY. The riddle also said there were 3 words that end in GRY. It did not say there were exactly 3 words...

Can anyone recommend any "progressive metal" bands that are accessible in the US? I received a lot of email from my last post (THANKS), but most of them were either next to impossible to get or extremely expensive to import... I have every Dream Theater, Queensyche, Savatage, Fates Warning, Crimson Glory CD possible and have run out of bands to get.
Thanks in advance.
PS - Does anyone know where I can get Winger t-shirts (like the one Stewart wears on "Beavis and Butthead)??? I need 5 of them for a gag. Thanks again.

Someone asked how the Galactic Cowboys' first 2 albums compared to Machine Fish...
They are awesome. IMO, Space In Your Face is GC's best album. Their debut is stellar as well. And you can get them for about $8 on-line (brand frickin' new, too). They were re-released by Geffen for their "goldline" series (budget).
Check out my GC homepage (URL below) for more info on the 2nd best band in the world... ;)

I got it mine at Blockbuster Music for $11.99. I'm pretty sure it was tagged wrong though, because the other copies they had were $17.99. So I guess I just got lucky!

Charlie "The Ytse-Rook" asked on Jam #1555:
> Can someone please explain the relationship between Tori Amos and > Kevin Moore? Is there one?
Knowing KevMo it's probably another SDV-relationship (he's doing u-know-what while looking at her picture). Guess he's just a harmless Erotomaniac... But then again... So am I (where Tori is concerned)
I've seen that question about KevMo & Tori unanswered a couple of times before. Just what's the deal here ? Is KevMo really after her ? I know Tori has a boyfriend. This is something I read in an interview :
Question> Who was the last person you slept with ? ToriAmos> My boyfriend. He's a northern boy from Lincolnshire
Guess that's not our KevMo.
--- Now for some obligatory crap:
I would have liked *this* answer better :
ToriAmos> My boyfriend Itchy. He's a boy from Rotterdam, Holland
Well, I think that'll only happen when pigs can fly... ..and When Dream And Day Unite !
I think that piglet on B4P came pretty close to "flying" in the "Icicle"-sense, if you know what I mean...
Btw, remember I said something about four hours of sleep a night not being enough ? Judging from my .sig on that post, I guess I was right... I used some extended charakters... Didn't turn out the way I thought it would... oh well... back to bed...

Whassup Jammers?
Someone asked about one of my favorite bands, Galactic Cowboys, so of course I have to add my comments into the discussion. Anyone who still doesn't own any Galactic Cowboys should *definitely* give them a listen. They just have so much cool stuff going on in their music... vocal harmonies the equal of Alice in Chains, lyrics bordering on Weird Al goofiness but more brilliant, and excellent music that you can just kick a groove to... an excellent band all-around.
_My_ favorite album by them is the newest one, Machine Fish. The selftitled album and Space In Your Face are also both excellent, but the new one just has more of an edge to the music. My recommendation is to go backwards... Machine Fish first, then SiyF and debut album. As already mentioned, if you've got a Best Buy in your area the first two GC albums have been known to float around in the $4.99 bin which is a steal.
Hmm.. just so I don't waste an entire post talking about Galactic Cowboys, we now focus our attention to a discussion of organic chemistry... nah, just kidding...
I've been buying entirely too many CDs recently... new discs for the Doctor inlude:
Rush -- Counterparts Van Halen -- F.U.C.K. +Live+ -- Mental Jewelry Extreme -- II & III Superior -- Behind Saigon Kick -- Water Whitesnake -- Slip of the Tongue The Nixons -- Foma Kansas -- Freaks of Nature
All those in about the last two weeks... btw, they *all* f*ckin' rock... I was pleasantly impressed by the Saigon Kick disc, hafta get some more of their stuff now... I have The Lizard on tape and Water is right up the same alley as that. Superior's disc is excellent as everyone else keeps mentioning... definitely check with Jason Skewes or with Bernd and get yourself a copy of this if you don't already own it.

Well, I *do* think he's totally missing the point where Tori Amos is concerned. You shouldn't play with 'your friend' while listening to her. Don't you know that we are all unworthy of Tori the fairy Goddess ??? Even KevMo is ! (Ok, you've guessed... Itchy is a HUGE Toriphile...)

It's great to find more people who are into it! Most of the bands I've been heavily into have never made it 'huge'. Kansas, for example, did pretty well, but certainly not like any of the overnight mega sensations. Guess it's good in a way. Look at what it does to some of the bands. DT gets my respect 'cuz they repsect the music first. Some of the most amazing 'concerts' I've been to, the musicians have had sheet music on stage! For me, the wild stage shows, the awesome lyrics, etc., just don't matter if the music isn't there to being with. Of course, seeing Zappa out-gross Ozzy (or was it Alice Cooper, can't remember) does provide an enjoyment all its own :)...
