YES Derek Sherinian is in Wayne's World!! He's in Alice Cooper's band, just watch for him when Wayne and Garth go backstage.

Anyway. There's been all this talk lately of "taping" the DT shows coming up this December. Well it got me started a'thinking about last December, about the ACOS mini-tour. I was wondering if anyone out there has some relatively early-generation recordings of those shows. I mean all four shows, including the two Rudess/Morgenstein opening performances. The person who recorded them seems to have disappeared over the last eleven months and I doubt he still has my blank cassettes.

What else. Necronomicon. Has this game been released yet? If so, has anyone heard the soundtrack?

Mr. Kerr, your funds have been safely transferred to my account here in Washington. The item you requested has been dropped off at an international parcel-transfer site. A post office, to be exact. There was a woman there whom I had never seen before, whom I did not know, whom I did not trust, but who caught my attention nonetheless and gave me the signal that she was with your organization. I handed the item to her. She assured me in morse code by rapidly blinking her left eye that the item would reach you unscathed. She then switched to her right eye and questioned me regarding the whereabouts of the N.O.C. list. I blinked back to her that I had no idea what she was talking about. If you wish me to remain as one of your operatives, please cease casually passing out information such as this.

    Bafu out.

What's the deal with the 12/13 show at The Strand? I called TicketBastard and they were clueless. I checked the web page and there was no listing. If you have info about purchasing these tix, please e-mail me.

Speaking of tix, I got mine for Rush on 12/8 in W. Palm Beach, FL. All I gotta say is, lotteries suck... Panthers tix went on sale too, and the one guy that shows up in a Flyers jersey wins a spot at the beginning of the line via the stupid lottery!

This is a short note to thank Syrinx for a CD referral, and an apology for my behaviour on the IRC#ytsejam. Syrinx- I picked up DRAMA, and I dig it. Thanks.

Also, for those of you that are looking around for good acoustic stuff to listen to: Adrian Legg, "Guitar for Mortals" is a disc to snag!! And when you listen, keep this in mind: no, he doesn't have a hipshot or a b-bender, and there are NO overdubs. Adrian Legg is the King of the planet Acoustishred, and he has spoken.

Here's my DTC for the evening: Mike Bahr, if you know what the title of the upcoming LP is, please don't keep it a secret from us. I know that I would like to know what it's called.

Two things about that Neil Peart interview really got me depressed:

#1- re the Working Man tribute: >And they're just a bunch of bar-bands doing it, it's not like >they're musicians paying tribute to Rush in any way.

There are so many ways in which this statement insults so many people, it is simply mind-boggling (I'll leave the task of listing the insultees as an assignment for the reader). I'm afraid that my opinion of Mr. Peart has hit an all-time low here. =(

#2- re The Tour: >It's just impossible to do everything everybody wants us to. We do what >we can. I think it's just gonna be a fairly minimal tour of the States >and Canada, so that's all.

<sigh> Looks like yet ANOTHER tour where they don't come to Portland. Hell, they're not even going anywhere near the Pacific Northwest. =( What pisses me off even more is that there are people in the Northeast and California that will get to go to 2 or 3 shows. <sigh>

(yes, I know I'm whining, but all these incredible concert reviews have really made me bitter. Their first album in three years, their first one with just them and an audience, and they do a "minimal tour". Oh well, hopefully DT and other "bar-bands" <gag> will make their way up here...)

Yeah, right. Even if Johan DOES somehow land a job at the hospital I'm staying at, no one's gonna just "pass out" the access codes for the floor I'm on.

This post should appear in YJ #1988... Another good year... Michael Dukakis remarked during the debate that Bush was "the Joe Isuzu of American politics." Bush retorted later on with "that last answer was about as clear as Boston Harbor." Mike Tyson had all three belts. Milli Vanilli was all the rage. And the majority of Van Halen fans were still a bit suspicious of the new guy...

Let's see...how do we tie this in...oh yeah, Dream Theater was mere inches away from finally landing a record deal. :)

Yeah..those were awesome..nothing beats CASTLEVANIA though!!! Remember how fucking hard it was to time it right so that you jumped through Dracula's fireballs but had to whip out the boomerang in mid-air! Ahh..the good old days of leaving a game on pause for hours and coming back to it in the morning. Since I'm in the ol' Nintendo frame of mind right now..here's some faves..(no matter how incredibly shitty graphics they were!) Genghis Khan, Conflict, Shadowgate, Pro Wrestling (Puma man rules!), Rush'n' Attack (GREAT MUSIC!!), and hehe..throw in Excitebike (I loved creating those tracks from hell!) and Ice Climber (only for the fact that I love games in which you can kill your friends by letting an icicle crush their skull :-) Ohh Yeah..Metal gear kicked ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! Right up there with Golgo 13! SOld my NES 2 years ago for $100..wanna do the same this month with my SNES and Genesis..(just collecting dust) But yeah, old nes rules supreme..games like Metroid and Section Z just made me wanna see just how many particles I could smash my controller into!

Also, for some reason, whenever I listen to HELLOWEEN's "Walls of Jericho" I instantly remember Wizards & Warriors..I must have been playing that disc while I played the game or something..weird?

    cheers, Carlo

Anyway, I've got a couple of questions, and if anyone could e-mail me with some answers, it would be greatly appreciated. 1. Isn't DT touring right now? What's their tour schedule? Are they going to play any shows in the Milwaukee/Chicago area soon? Have I missed them? 2. I heard that Mike Portnoy has been doing a few drum clinics around the country. Being a fellow drummer myself, and currently working on a drum transcription of "6:00", I would love to get a chance to see Mike in a clinic. Will he be doing any in the Midwest? How can I find out? Does anyone know what happened to Jennifer Albert (airdance@aol.com) ? Haven't seen her for a while.

You know, this is an interesting idea. DT or no DT, I think I'm going to start posting relevant sites for people who've asked about something in the past that I just happen to stumble into. So...

For anyone who has ever wanted to buy one of the Ibanez Jem Series guitars (including the seven-stringers), but doesn't have $10,000 to toss around and doesn't mind owning something that isn't brand-spanking-new, check this site out:

    http://www.greenjem.com

This fellow basically set up a shrine to the Jem guitar, starting with the original ones from long ago. One of the features of the site is a "for sale" page full of Jem owners selling their instruments. There's isn't a "looking for" list because, well, that would take up a rather large area.

You know, I recently read a very interesting letter from Steve Vai to Mike Keneally, and Keneally's reply interspersed between Vai's original paragraphs. I think it was on Keneally's site.
