Wow, I'm shocked. They can't play any decent music in this entire city,
but they play cool music at the TWolves game?! (like anyone ever goes to
those anyway.. *chuckle*) I might have to watch one on television now though
to see if I can catch any DT ;)

    actually, my understanding is that
Rush had nothing to do with Chronicles,
    and the band is in fact upset that it was released;
Mercury put it out as a final money-maker when Rush moved to Atlantic.

    incidentally, I too think that
Rush is blowing the tribute album thing way out of proportion.
they need to accept the fact that they *are* an old band,
even if they are not yet decrepit,
and that they have influenced a large number of artists.
as for the idea that 'tribute albums are for dead bands,'
I think it is interesting to note that all of the bands
cover'd by Magna Carta are still viable,
and most have put out a new album recently.

    Hey,

If there are any tapers around, I'm wondering about the possibility of
recording the Birch Hill show. I've never tried to sneak any recording
devices into a show before, so I'm wondering what the smart way to do it is:
what recorder is best or smallest, best place to stash it, mics to use, etc.
And how about getting caught? I hear Birch Hill is high security. Maybe the
bouncers don't give a hoot about people sneaking in recorders? Maybe the
band's "associates" are on the lookout? Maybe tell M.P. you're there to tape
the show and he'll give you the O.K.? All comments are appreciated, as always.

Either one or the other, but not both. If you heard Awake songs, Kevin was not there. He left the band *before* Awake was released, and did not play any of that stuff live. (Exception: Puppies on Acid, which became The Mirror.)

    Hey guys !

*This* is the moment you've all been waiting for ! Well, ok... it's the moment *I've* been waiting for... It's my favourite time of the month. No, not *that* time...

Well, guess what I'm trying to say is that the *new*, *improved*...

    "Most Frequent Poster List"

..is finished :-) and it looks pretty nifty, if I may say so myself. This month's list contains no less than 103 links to Ytsejammer home- pages and other Dream Theater related sites (Rip's Twinkieboy-page, D-Man's DT-FAQ). Check it out... You'll love it...

    Here's the "improved" part :

Besides the usual MFP-list, I've also put together a page with smaller MFP-lists... *One* per domain/country... So, if you wanna find out just how many posters are in your domain/country, or just how many domains are represented on this list, check out that page. I think it's a keeper.

Also, I'm proud to announce that "Voices" will also have it's very own "Most Frequent Poster List" from now on ! :-> There's already one on my homepage, with THREE posters :-) Charone Frankel is one of them (gotta love her).

You can still view the lists on my Dutch homepage, but you might wanna try my 'mirrorsite' (thanks Madsman!) for a faster connection :

    URL: http://www.prognosis.com/itchy

Anyway, enjoy :-) Let me know what you think ! And sign my guestbook while you're in the neighborhood... The Marillion, Dream Theater and Tori Amos icons are also still there, if you want them...

Kain asked about Fish (ex-Marillion) on 'Jam #1975 :

    > why did Fish leave Marillion in the first place?

Here's the story I've heard... Fish wanted complete control over Marillion... The other guys didn't really like the new lyrics he had written and thought they were getting a bit *too* personal...

Fish came up with some kind of ultimatum... The others basically told him to phuq off by ignoring the letter Fish sent them, and started looking for a replacement :-) That's when they found Steve Hogarth...

Together with Hogy (that's what Marillion fans call him) they came up with the BEST ALBUM *EVER* (ok, imo it is) called "Brave" (get it!!!).

Kain also said about Goddess Tori Amos on 'Jam #1975 :

    > Her voice and her piano alone, very impressive, that's why I got > to get ahold of LE!!!!! Oh she used some sort of organ in that > presentation, I'm not sure about what it was (i saw it a while back) > but it was cool.

She used one of her two Bosendorfer pianos (Oh God how I love those) and her harpsichord (that's the one you meant). I bought the new "In The Springtime Of His Voodoo" CD-single last week... There are four (!) dance-mixes of that song on it... I'm ashamed to say that I actually like them :-> Especially the "Hasbrouck Heights Club Mix" (10:04!) and the "Quiet Mix".

Oh well, enough off-topic stuph from me... (for now)

ok............in light of the fact that we just keep becoming better buddies over here (this in-fighting is getting really retarded, but whatever).

got to see the great medeski, martin and wood last night here in suny binghamton. incidentally, they must have brought the snow with them (had our first snowfall yesterday). i only got to see the 2nd half, but god, did they hurt my brain! they were just out of their heads (a friend who saw the whole show confirmed to me that the 2nd half was lots better).

i also had the chance to meet them afterwards and get my "shackman" and "notes" cd's signed. they were cool fellows. my radio station manager friend even got some cool station id's from them.

    so that's that.

well, being that tickets for the poughkeepsie show went on sale already, i doubt i'll be going. oh well.

anyone else pick up the new yes album? jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's it for my blab of shit.

Ouch....this is kind of a harsh thing to say about bands that idolize you and are struggling in the early stages of their career. Saying that you don't like the idea of the tribute album is one thing, but saying that they are just bar bands and not really musicians is not a really great thing to say. I'm not an authority on this at all..but isn't that how most musicians get started, in local clubs and bars.

About a year ago, things got *really* crazy around here - a lot of off-topic discussion, flame wars, and so forth. Some ideas were tossed around among a group of Ytsevets, and one of those was to create a digest with moderation, in hopes of heightening the signal to noise ratio. Ken was late in starting it up due to his extremely busy schedule, but it's happening now.

If you >understand the question, please tell me an answer

I posted this a couple of weeks ago, but I'll post it again. This is my opinion of where the "cut-off points" are in the song:

    I. The Crimson Sunrise 0:00 II. Innocence 3:50 III. Carpe Diem 6:54 IV. The Darkest Of Winters 10:08 V. Another World 13:01 VI. The Inevitable Summer 16:58 VII. The Crimson Sunset 19:54

This really should be in the FAQ. I'm pretty sure all these times are right, but please feel free to disagree with or correct any of them.
