ok, i've only got a few min before i skip town for the weekend, but RUSH
RULED LAST NIGHT. TO MASS PROPORTIONS :) that was definately the best
concert i've seen so far this year.... it was a wonderful idea to do a
whole "evening with rush" and no opening act, cuz they barely played enough
still! :) 2112 was the most amazing aspect of it all.... i had chills at
the end :) also like mr. peart's new facial do' he looks like he could be
the third van halen brother :) met up with dale newb, caught a few words
with aaron happe, tho we were needing to jet off to our seats and find em so
i had to skit quick, sorry bout that man :), also saw who i later found was
jay runde when we were just splitting the scene near the beginning, if i
woulda known i woulda stuck around to say hi at least :) lotsa DT fans
there, trust me, every few minutes someone must've said "DT! THOSE GUYS
ROCK!" hehehehe. all in all a great show... if you get the chance, go see
them, and buy me a ticket and pay for my air fare :)

First and foremost, I hope that none of us will decide to unsub from the
jam when we sub to voices. I guess I'd better list a few reasons:

    1. Voices will only come out like once a day
    2. It's moderated (ok maybe that's not so bad, but then we can't talk about
    completely off topic stuff.)
    3. It doesn't sound very cool to say "Yea! I'm a Voiceser!"
    4. There's more people on here to advertise to/ask questions to.

I guess what I'm saying is subscribe to Voices, but stay on here too.

I still like Zack more than Jon

    I know, I know I'm responding to my own post....BUT I think I didn't make
myself clear in the first post. My post was about a bad trader list I'm
making up. I'm not trading boots(I do but that post wasn't about me
trading). Sorry about this but 34 people emailed me about wanting to trade.
And I don't have time for 34 trades at a time.

hahaha, i think that guy rules. he obvoiusly had good reason to do so, if
youre the type of person that comes on and calls 900 so people cocksuckers.
maybe you better learn how to control yourself instead of getting a whole
bunch more people on your case who'll probably sign you up to another five
hundred mailing lists. if on the other hand, you'd learn to handle yourself
maybe you could get some people on your side of this case. if he signed you
up you got a sign-up notice, and in that notice you'll find unsubscription
    directions. have fun, pisswafer. :)

Hi all. For the guys who asked about Birch Hill and Philly. I believe it
took us about an hour and half, maybe a bit longer to get to Birch Hill
last year. If you need directions, I will be coming from there so email
me personaly. The Ticketmaster number in Jersey is 201-507-8900. Beware,
    they 'prefer' Mastercard.
For those of you who are Journey fans and don't have the cd, go
get it. I am a huge Journey fan and have been since long before DT. The
new cd is still the same old Journey just with a slightly different sound
to it. I love it personaly. Some of the new stuff is just wonderful to
    listen to.
Don't forget to order Birch Hill tickets tomorrow!

Hello folks, this is in reference to tiggerdano's ticketmaster defense,
so if you're not into it go ahead and skip to the next post.

Although this will be misconstrued as a flame by many, it is simply
my need to voice a response to a few things tigger had to say here:

    >From: TiggerDano@aol.com
    >To: ytsejam@ax.com
    >Subject: In defense of "Ticketshafter"

    >I have been a loyal DT fan for over four years now and I have been a silent
    >but faithful ytse-jammer for a year and a half now. I recently took a job at
    >Ticketmaster of Washington/Baltimore for about 5 months this year. During
    >which I learned a lot about the way tickets are sold and priced. And I would
    >like to share some of my expierience with fellow jammers. Especially in
    >light of the current Rush and impending DT tours.
    >First of all Ticketmasters Convenience charges and Handling Fee are neither
    >wacky or out of line. It is my experience that ridiculous pricing and
    >deception is the domain of the auto repair industry(MERCHANTS!!!)

And if you had just gotten a job in the auto repair industry for five
months, I'm inclined to think you would end up justifying their service
    charges too.

    > Ticketmaster makes all of their money on these charges, not on the price of
    >the tickets themselves. Ticketmaster is providing you with a service and
    >asks just 3 or 4 dollars in return. If you don't like the service charge
    >then get off your ass and buy your tickets at the venue's ticketwindow.

I think that last remark calls for a hearty BLOW ME.

    >Ticketmaster is a money saver if you consider the amount of money you spend
    >driving to the venue and the time you spend in line. Not to mention that it
    >is Ticketmaster's system that makes it possible for us to buy tickets for out
    >of state shows without driving to Birch Hill or Hammerjacks or the San Diego
    >Sports Arena.

And I suppose if it weren't for ticketmaster none of us would find a
convenient way to network tickets to shows, and all the bands would stop
    playing.

    >Ticketmaster is also the responsible for slowing down scalpers. If it
    >weren't for those 6 ticket limits they impose on us.

People who scalp tickets are successful at it because they know many
ways around the silly 6 ticket limit. Like many other rules & laws, it is only
creating an inconvenience for the people you claim the rule is protecting.

    >It would be impossible
    >for any of us to go to a big show like Metallica or Neil Diamond without
    >paying whatever the scalpers want.

I think it's great that you're convinced ticketmaster is the greatest thing
since sliced bread, but I find it difficult to let anyone be led under the
impression that they are protecting us, or that we wouldnt be able to get
tickets for shows at good prices without them. I think that notion is
ridiculous. What do you think music did before ticketmaster?

5 months in the employ of ticketmaster doesn't seem to warrant your
suggestion that I 'get off my ass' for anything, nor does it signify
to me that they would actually consider telling you the truth about
where the money from their greedy little service charges goes.

In addition to the many wonderful features I've discovered with ticketmaster
comes the dissappearing seat feature. You know, the one that when you
are in line at the ticketmaster counter and ask for seats in a specific
section you get "Im sorry there are none available", then the guy 3 people
behind you in line scores seats in that very section?? You know that one?
It pissed me off so bad one day getting tickets that I stood in line and
watched each person come through until I proved it to the bitch that gave
me attitude behind the counter because I insisted that I knew there were
seats available there. 20 minutes after being told by ticketmasters computer
that there were no seats left in section C, I watched this girl sell someone
2 seats in that very section. Ticketmaster can blow me. I have seen this
happen with their 'convenience' service on SEVERAL occasions.

Maybe I just read this post after a bad day or something, or maybe I just
have a personal problem with ticketmaster all together. In either case,
I felt compelled to respond to this post.

    >Ticketmaster makes all of their money on these charges, not on the price of
    >the tickets themselves.
We grasp this concept fully, and have for some time.

    > Ticketmaster is providing you with a service and
    >asks just 3 or 4 dollars in return. If you don't like the service charge
    >then get off your ass and buy your tickets at the venue's ticketwindow.
$3-4?!?!? Tell that to the people that sold my G3 tickets. Perhaps you
should aim at like $6-7. There is no such thing as "Handling" the tickets.
That's like a grocery clerk charging handling fees for gving you your
groceries in a bag... what's next? Cart Rental? Further I appreciate the
insinuation that we all lazy and not just EMPLOYED. You can't always go on
a whim to a Venue's ticket window. TicketBastard is helpful in that
respect.... but many venues themselves charge TicketMaster fees.

    >Ticketmaster is a money saver if you consider the amount of money you spend
    >driving to the venue and the time you spend in line.
No. It doesn't take $5-7 to get to and from most shows. And they didn't
save me from my 4 hour wait for the G3 show tonight (I'll go into detail in
    a moment)

    >Ticketmaster is also the responsible for slowing down scalpers.
I've never paid more than $10 over ticket price from a scalper. I would not
be at all pleased if I were to lose the option of getting a ticket after a
    show has sold out.

    Now.... My G3 Experience!

I don't need Dream Theater or Fates Warning or any of the bands I'm into
anymore. This concert put every live performance I've EVER seen before to
SHAME. There is no greater stage performer than Steve Vai. There just
isn't... he was SO on targer... SO perfect.... and still TOTALLY amusing.
They came out and after the first tune Steve came up to the mic and said "Oh
my, I think this is gonna be a good night!" because the crowd was so TOTALLY
eating up his performance. Mike Keneally is far beyond how great I thought
he was... They played The Attitude Song, Little Alligator, The first tune
off Fire Garden, Blue Powder, the Animal, For the Love of God, Tender
Surrender ( I think that's the one it was... it was off Alien Love
Secrets... I'm no good with instrumental song titles! ) and Bad Horsie. I
may have missed one or two.

There is no reason to speak about the rest of the concert... it left little
impression. Eric has no stage presence and I have seen Satch a few times
already... this was just another concert for him... nothing new here.

I had to stand out in the freezing cold for 4 hours to get to the front row.
I met some dude who has TONS and TONS and TONS of bootleg videos... he told
me I could represent him on the jam.... so tell me what your looking for and
I'll find it through him for ya. We didn't get backstage because we were
impatient and wanted to get t shirts after the show instead of hanging on to
the CHANCE that the people who told us they'd get us backstage would
actually come back down from the aftershow party... but we did meet Mike
Keneally and he's a great guy.... I stopped him as he was walking buy and
he was very cool about just stopping to talk. If you still have an
opportunity to see this show.... you will never realize the magnitude of the
experience that you risk missing. It was just dumbfounding to see someone
play like that.... andI've seen LOTS of shredders.... no one holds a candle
to Vai anymore... there were contenders ysterday... but they've vanished
    like dust.

See G3, or be passed by!

This evening I turned on the television to watch the Timberwolves game
(which they won- a sure sign that the apocalypse is nigh) and when they
were doing the big introduction with all the smoke and lights they were
playing Metropolis. Needless to say I was quite surprised.

This rocks!!! I never would have thought I'd hear so much support for 80s
hard rock on the jam. I'll sleep very well tonight.
