Are you serious... is it live or studio? ... does it contain all the
tracks? ... is it a complete rerecord or just a dub with new vocals?

Englishman Dunbar did four albums with Zappa and also toured with Frank before being a founding member of Journey. He left/was sacked by Journey after the Infinity album in 1978. He even had some litigation happening against the band. After that he played with Jefferson Starship (who then became Starship) And he did play on Whitesnake's 1987 along with John Skyes on guitar and Neil Murray on bass.

I don't get it. This, to me, is like asking what the set list for a gig was. Why do people care so damn much about the title of an album? Is it gonna change the CD contents? Will you not go to the show? If you're sooooo worried about it, just use electrical tape on the jewel case. On another note.....calling all Jason Becker benefit goers!!! Who's up for some bloddy mary's before the show. A perfect way to start the Sunday! E-mail me if interested. I live with 10 minutes of the Riv and know of some bars to hit, first. Finally, for those who post way un-related items because you're bored (happened recently), go outside and do something productive, but don't post! Hi! I have some rather deep thoughts about LiT :) I got the Live in Tokyo a couple of days ago. It's great! I've seen it at least 6 times already. I had never heard To Live Forever before, but it was superb! I was just wondering.. why was Mike P and John P shaved? Does the japanese have a thing against facial hair? just a thought... :)

I have a catalog (Record Heaven) where they sell Instrumental I,II and III. There is also an album called Classic Live, and Excellent/Live N.Y. '93. They are all priced slightly above normal CD-price. What are they, and are they worth getting?

    Thanks

Hmm, that's interesting. I was thinking just the opposite, that perhaps the reason we're all so damn edgy is because they have so few songs :) I imagine the day when playing all the releases back-to-back will take more than a day! That's what is great for me with bands like Yes, Tull, Zappa and other bands with MANY albums out...

    -----------

Think it was Rock 101 GIR out of New Hampshire played TfE last night and then followed it up with Half The World (is that the title?). Rush has managed to get inside me once again by fusing the message in the lyrics with the sound. Well done!

Oh yeah, there's a seperate power outlet next to the cigarette adapter, so if you want to bring amps and shred down 95 South, I'll rip the voltage regulator out and throw a few extra batteries under the hood. I also do quality house wiring, in case anyone is interested (please, please, one at a time) 240? 120? What's the difference, just slap a freakin' resistor in there and shut up :)

    Hey Jammers!

Why do these things happen to me? Rush and Type O Negative on the same night in Philly. I've seen each band once. As it turns out, I have no choice, and I'm going to TON instead of Rush. Normally it would be no contest, but I've got a back-stage pass to TON. To see Rush, or to see TypeO, and meet them as well.

    What would you rather do?

yo jamlings, Someone said to start up some old threads. I'm not sure about that but I do have one. I've been on the jam for over 2 years now and I don't recall having seen this one. Only the older ytsevets will know for sure. Mainly this is for those who have TSM single. On it is TTT, but a demo version differing from the I&W version. Some parts on the demo version I think are better than what was released on I&W. Primarily, James' harmonies and samplings of his voice are I think better produced than the release. Also, there's more Kevin keys and they are more up front. On the down side, there's a spot where it sounds like Mike screwed up in the bridge where James sings 'I can see much clearer now I'm blind'. What do you think? I would've liked to have heard a combination of the two versions. I miss the sample at the first of the song, it isn't there on the demo but the Italian phrase is.

Hopefully, this wasn't already beat to death before I got on the jam. Let's talk about this.

    Wilmo

Hello fellow jammers, Well, its been a "really really" long time since I wrote in but one message in particular was bothersome to me. PROGROCKBOY wrote in YTSEJAM DIGEST #1992 that Adrian Legg is a shredder. According to my definition he is one as well, in fact, I share the same definition as Nick's. However, I cannot categorize Legg's music as folk. Rick, I am not flaming you at all... this is just my opinion about the categorization of Adrian Legg's genre. I believe Legg's style seems to adopt many different styles which include medieval and classical music, British folk, and a genre which hasn't been introduced yet claimed only by Legg. Anybody as unique as Adrian cannot be "fit" into a specific category. Dream Theater is another example. I, personally do not believe Dream Theater is a progressive rock, progressive metal band, or whatever. They are a band whose styles encompass many different styles, one of which is progressive rock. However, if you listen to WDADU, one finds a lot of classical influence, standard and progressive rock not to mention a whole slew of other genres. Its like this, Dream Theater is a rock band with MANY different influences one of which happens to be progressive music. Does this mean that one should categorize a band by only one influence? No, all this means is that one CANNOT completely categorize a band that has such a vast difference in influence. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dori Tritt "Like a scream but sort of silent" tritt@eden.rutgers.edu - John Petrucci screamer@dreamt.org A W A K E A STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adrian Legg: Yeah, he's folk. And bluegrass. And country. He's inherited a tradition of folk musics....several of which were popular in England at the appropriate time. Calling him a Country musician IS a little bit of a misnomer, but that's certainly a part of his makeup....after all, there was an American Country scene in England (that talked a lot to the Skiffle musicians) about the same time Blues became prevalent there. Mark Knopfler is another example of a musician influenced by exported Country. And, certainly, there's a strong relationship between Folk and Country -- in fact, one might be very accurate to say that Bluegrass may very well be that intersection on amphetamines. Other Country/Folk folks: Rickie Lee Jones, Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith...although I guess I'd have to say there's a dose of rock in all three of 'em, too.

Content of this list: Basically, there are two types of lists that one can assemble -- a "Purpose" list and a "Community" list. Of course, all lists are neither one or the other, but exist on some continuum, combining both elements. But a "Purpose" list basically stays "on target"...containing only discussion those things explicitly the subject. A "Community" list brings togther a number of people with a similar interest or interests and contains discussions of issues that relate to the subject of the list. For example, it seems a number of people who like Dream Theater like Lemur Voice, Rush, King's X, and Shadow Gallery. This is an issue worth discussing...it's an issue that brings most of us together....and we can mull over why one person likes Pink Floyd better than IQ, where someone else hates the entire Floyd catalog. Handled well (that is, without a whole lot of sniping about preferences), we get a load of good INFORMATION, along with recognition within the list (for example, some of you are aware that along with Progressive Music, I have a great fondness for Jazz). But if you're only looking for a source for Dream Theater information, this is not the most efficient way to collect it. So you've really gotta figure out whether you're looking at a load of chaff or interesting conversation here.

And this is where we're at something of a crossroads. The Voices mailing list is finally getting going, where you've got a moderated forum for discussing Dream Theater. This is good. What I think might do our ENTIRE community of fans is for all of us to evaluate where we want both lists to go. I think you can already see what I'm saying and leaning towards -- I LIKE this list as a "Community" and would hate to see us trim too much "fat." I like the notion of self-editing and think, despite the volume, that this list is worthwhile reading.

This message has been brought to you by the Coalition to Preserve Mailing List Rights.
