    Hi

This is my first post to this list.

Whilst on holiday in Turkey I walked into a music store in Alanya, the town where we were staying and on the shelves of this tiny store I found............................................................................................. a copy of the Images & Words cassette!!!!!!

    Dream Theatre hit Turkey folks!!!!!!

It might be kinda fun to start a new thread on the strangest places that Dream Theatre stuff has been found and the cheapest price paid for one of their albums.

Yup, you read right. I'm now opening orders on: Dream Theater "Tapestry: a Cascade of Covers"

It's the disc you've all been waiting for... the Uncovered gig. Soundboard. Perfecto. Excellentissimo. :) All the info can be found in my new "half-update" that I can mail you at your request, and I'll be passing that along to Jeff and Ryan straight away. It's a single CD featuring everything except the ACOS stuff, and it runs like 73 minutes.

All you really have to know is this: If you have a Precious Things order OR reservation, you're already reserved for Tapestry, and you can send your order right along. It's $25, to me at: Mike Bahr, 275 W. Juniper Ave. #1013, Gilbert, AZ 85233 USA

The bigger the initial flood of orders is, the sooner this can get underway. I finished pressing the Tori discs this week, and I'm moving on to Metallica... and as of now, I can press 2 CDs at a time, so Precious Things is hitting the burner too. Thus, the Tapestry release date could be as soon as 1/10/97 or so. I figure 8 or 9 weeks. The print run is 250.

Take it easy all! - Mike Bahr - durnik@goodnet.com - ASU Sun Devils 10-0, PAC 10 Champs!

As I seem to recall, most video games are licensed out to private companies who do the programming. It doesn't suprise me that Sega hadn't heard anything about Necromonica(or whatever it's called) because it's probably being made by someone like Kanomi, EA Sports(not really, but you get the point). It depends on what type of game it is. Different companies make different games...I forget the ones that make sega games. You'll have better luck finding out who's making it, and asking them.

Kirk was cool when they didn't try so hard to sound garage, Eddie will always be an elemental icon for guitarists like myself, and Vito is/was under-rated.

Well, I guess I missed a post, or is it that I didn't realize PE had anything to do with the Jam. Not to be harsh or one sided, but posting on a DT list to tell me I should have more respect for PE is like posting on a PE list and telling them they should have more respect for DT. It may be true, but who is gonna give a shit either way? If I wanna hear about PE or rap AT ALL I would subscribe to a rap list...I believe that rap definitely has it's place in music, but I probably wouldn't consider this to be the place <G>

    Hey you cool guy Vince!

The .ra's at Mesa/ Boogie are just JP, with a Dr. Rhythm, and his rack, direct to hard disk or DAT, I'm not sure which. If you want a copy, set up whatever sound recorder program you have to record from the document (set everything to record) and hit record, then play the document. Then you can trim it at the beginning and end in order to lose any extraneous noise on the start and finish. save, and voila! your own copy of JP's soundtrack for the PINBALL (not sega, nintendo or anything, but an actual PINBALL game) game, "Necronomica".

I got whacky for you. The first band I was ever in wascalled Sir round sound. The second, AfterImage, which we stole from Rush's Grace under Pressure CD. Actually liked that name, too bad the band blew. Third band, Curving Aztec, which I didn't come up with. My current band? Well I don't have one. Solo name?amon Fibraio. isn't that goofy?

Nah, I tried that. It didn't work. So I recorded to tape and then fed it back to the PC and recorded it as .au files. Still very clean quality.

I just formed a Swing combo with some friends TODAY. We figured we would go with a not-so-serious name. We are thinking about calling it Happy Hour. I don't know? Corny or cool? Eighteen year olds playing Jazz is not quite in vogue right now. An eighteen year old playing Jazz on a 7- string Ibanez Universe is completely unheard of! - Jon -- Btw: This is my first post since re-subscribing. I was on the Jam a year and a half ago under the name Ibanez7. It's great to be back on!

    Hey jammers,

I think it would be cool to hear how other jammers compare the G3 guitarists to good 'ol JP. Personally, I think JP is much more expressive of a player than the G3 guitarists. Just a thought. Flame me personally, please.

Chatfield Senior High Metropolis percussion arrangement. I think I owe everyone a regular update on this. I am starting a comprehensive list of those who want recordings, if we get it recorded. Write me if you want to be added. Here goes: I heard an edited version of what will be the final arrangement. Because of time restraints, we had to cut out the vocal sections. I think that the middle section will be preserved in whole, thank god. Those interested get audition music on Friday, and our auditions will be a week and a half from that point. I'm trying for low end grand marimba. There is also a strong possibility that we will be miking the keys instruments, and running certain signals through distortion pedals. We're pretty lucky to be doing Metropolis. My band's drummer, who will probably go out for snare, talked our instructor into it. Pomona also wanted to do Metropolis, but we beat them to it. Good thing, because Pomona would have beat our ass.(their marching band has taken 1st in state for many years)

    That's enough for now.

    Later, Cory

    Arresting Mike Bahr, of course.

Petrucci can't even do a "standard" performance, what makes you think he could somehow force his playing to regress to a "sub-standard" level? Like a hawk shifting into an archeopteryx...

Uh, we traded under Free Beer, but kept trying to get a friendly band to get themselves lined up doing the same place, and to call themselves Special Guest or One Night Only. The idea here being something of a "Puppet Show and Spinal Tap" deal: Tonight! One Night Only! Special Guest! Free Beer! 7pm!

Needless to say this was VERY short lived. People got disappointed when they had to pay to get in and then pay for their beers and listen to this not-real-good band on top of that.

(THE reason I'm not in a band right now: everyone but me and the drummer sucked, and the drummer graduated...)
