3.Tempest-Turn Of The Wheel
4.Stratovarius-Episode
5.Theatre of Tragedy-Velvet Darkness They Fear
Unfortunately DT didnt release a new album yet so Angra would have to
fill their usual place on such a list!!
Anyway i think i should just quit listening to DT...they're too
confusing:I still havent decided which album is their best!!
Great albums that had to be left out of my list are
Skyclad-Irrational Anthems
Iced Earth-The Dark Saga (this was a disappointment actually but still
good enough for one of the best of the year)
Amorphis-Elegy
Thats all folks!
Elessar,the Elfstone
PS Oups,i forgot "Working Man"!!:-)

Anyone think the lead in to "Message of Love" on "Trial by fire"
sounds anything like YES's lead in to "Big Generator"???? I think thats
the song anyway...
The new Journey album is pretty cool, I've always liked Journey though.
Track 12 is quite neat. I hear a lot of Vito Bratto (sp??) in there. Tapping
and all........

p.s. I was listening to the boot "Rockin Japan" this morning, very cool
boot. It's nice to hear Mikes drums on a boot........

Hmmm....referring to Barren Cross - I got into BC at least partially because
I thought the lead singer (Mike Lee?) sounded just like Bruce Dickinson.
John Arch, on the other hand, tended to sound like Dickinson on helium. :)
(Not busting on Arch - I love his FW stuff.)
And I'd like to thank you for bringing up Barren Cross...it reminds me that
I still have to get Rattle Your Cage on CD. :)

mourn the passing of a great band: TESLA

Tesla may still be growing if they'd put more in over this side of

i have noticed that most of my friends who are into Dream Theater are
also into the same hobbies outside of music. For instance, we *all*
read DragonLance, about half of us used to skateboard, and *all* of us
love anime. has anyone else noticed this?
another query - is it really so rare for a female to love DT? I noticed
one other besides me (i think her name is Jill) on the list, and in my
area, I am the only chickie. hmmm.......any explanations or ideas?

Okay, buy me the CD and I'll give it a chance.
What I've heard of it so far is not at all what I liked about Metallica,
nor what I look for in music in general, so I'm saving up my chances for
things that there's a greater possibility I'll like. Metallica doesn't
need any more of my money or my time.
The first time I heard DT on the radio, I was blown away. It was different
and it was awesome, and I'd never heard of the band before so I decided to
check them out.
The first time I heard "until it sleeps" I was not blown away. It wasn't
very different, it wasn't very awesome, and I'd heard Metallica and knew
that they were already heading in a direction I didn't care for all that
much, so I decided I have better things to do.
You can't just give everything a chance...there's not enough
time...something has to reach out and demand a chance, and UIS just
didn't do it for me.

Hey all,
I just was just talking to my old singer last night and he told me
that Midnight and the guitarist (can't remember the name) were getting
back together as Crimson Glory. It's amazing how CG has come up in
discussions then suddenly there's real news about them. Of course,
this is a little different then the news someone else said about a
reunion. I guess we'll find out soon enough!
I had mentioned in a much earlier jam that Kevin Moore had done the
keys on At Fate's Hand off of Perfect Symmetry. Definitly one of
their more complex tunes.
Also, there is a local Baltimore prog. metal band called Mystic Force
that should be checked out. I know that they are not as popular here
in the states but the European jammers have probably heard these guys.
Check your local stores, if you can't find them, let me know and I'll
see what I can do. Maybe I can get the bassist to give some .wavs to
send to any interested parties.
tot kijk,
Rick

At least it doesn't have the title "Good times"...... You can't get a
virus from reading an e-mail message unless there is an atached file and
you execute it.

I think someone's been pulling your leg here. When does the FCC give out
warnings for viruses? And how can this "virus" possibly be able to figure
out what sort of personal info you have on your computer when the data
isn't going to be stored in the same way on all computers?

Hi,
Does anyone know if Braindance have released a second CD lately ? I know
their debut album is Fear Itself. I want to order a CD called Can of Worms,
but I don't know if it's from the same Braindance.
Can anyone help me out here ?

Hey everyone:
I admit I haven't been able to keep up on a lot of the jams lately - grad
school kinda does that to you.....
Is DT's release still schedules for Feb. 97, or has it actually moved
up? I thought I saw some hint at a DEC. release. You can simply e-mail
me personally if you'd like to respond.

You're kidding me! I hope he's just spiteful about not bing in the band. John Petrucci and all the guys in DT were completely cool when I met them. I mean, I still don't get this whole thing about LaBrie having some sort of mean side. I only hung out at the aftershow for about 1/2 hour, but there was nothing but cool vibes from everyone. Jens is a great keyboardist, but doesn't that statement sound a bit fishy to you guys?
>Is anybody going to the Elgin, IL, GC show on the 23rd??? Wow! That's an hour away. I would have gone, except I've got Eric Johnson tickets for that day. I'm hoping on HIS tour his sound will be stronger.

Since we're kinf of on this boot thread, the only on line source that has really ever come through to me has been Magic Com in Germany, who were VERY helpful. CD Europe is just a nightmare as many others have expressed, but I don't know of any other real sources (reliable) for boots on the internes, are there any? As for EJ, can't wait for the show in Cinci on Sunday. I already won an autographed tourp poster from Capitol, but I've been trying to meet this guy for six years, so I figure I'm going to get down to the venue around 11, and wait for him to get there, hopefully he'll hang out with me before I freeze to death! Well, wish me luck, I'll give a full report when I get back.

Sounds like BS to me. I'm not one to say, seeing as I don't know any of the DT guys, nor have I ever met any of them, but my general vibe about those guys is that they're way down-to-earth. For any of them to be so superficial as to deny a seemingly qualified player the spot in the band just because "he doesn't look right" is ludicrous. Hell, when I first saw Mr. Sherinian, I thought," Gee, he doesn't really *look* the part, with his short hair and that goofy expression on his face, but if he can *play* and his disposition blends well with the band, I'm sure he'll be just fine." So to me, Derek is great. And if you ever heard his brief solo at the intro to "A Crack in the Mirror", you'll know what I mean.
My guess is J.J. is just bitter that he didn't get the gig. I'd believe him if he had auditioned for, say, Poison, or some other "pretty boy" band. (No offense to all the Poison fans out there.)
Have a day,

Perhaps SANGUINE SURROUNDINGS has been too hasty in flooding the 'jam with info about our band. We are just too anxious I guess. Stalemate is the first time anything has really worked out for us, ever. So I guess will stick by our guns for good or for bad...even if you guys think it sucks.
It is kind of scary for us. We forgot that most of you, if not all of you, listen intently to prog music, GOOD prog music everyday... We don't know how we will fit in... Some questions for you all. Anybody can reply on the 'jam to these:
1. What do the jammers' at large think is good? We've gotten some pretty ominous responses from some people that war that we better be good, or else. - GULP - We know it's all in good fun, but we certainly do not want to disappoint!
2. What do you think about a band who is only two people for now? Rush is only three, but a power trio works usually, and plus all three are DAMN GOOD!!! I play guitars exclusively, but on Stalemate I try my hand at bass and do an average job. Will you hold that against us?
3. When we say that our STYLE is reminiscient of Dream Theater and Rush, what would you expect? How good would everything have to be to be cool?
These are just a few minor points we need straightened before we proceed with our Sanguinizing plans for the future. We are truly sorry if we came off like egoed-out professional progsters when we are actually only a few steps up from being a garage prog-band.
If people are still interested, info can be inquired from dgamble@uop.edu
