Man, Rip, you just made me feel bad for having to miss EJ. Oh well,
we've got Vai in December. I will quit work if I have to for that
    one. :)

Also, I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to maybe
pick me up a shirt form one of the upcoming DT shows (mail me
    privately).

    Dale R. Newberry

Read Dragonlance, working on Tolkien, tried skateboarding once, fell
down, never did it again (have friends that skate), like anime (but
not a fanatic), played Magic once (might do it again), dig sci-fi,
into lit., play bass (and trombone), etc. etc. etc. ...

I don't know Philly too well, but I can give general directions from the NJ Turnpike. Take the turnpike to Exit 8 (or 8A) -- It's the Route 33 exit. If you're coming from a lower exit number, go North.

When you get to the exit, take 33 East.

Follow that until you see an exit for 537 East -- Freehold. It should be about 15 minutes or so. You'll see a mall on your left and a hotel on your right on Route 33 just before the exit.

Go down 3 lights (the first one's the mall, the 2nd two are right near each other). Turn right at the 3rd light to get on Route 9 North. Keep following the highway for about 15 minutes. Birch Hill is on the Southbound side, 1/4 mile north from the McDonald's , Pathmark, and Caldor stores in the Marlboro shopping center on the northbound side.

eeek! I think I used to be Mike Bahr... If someone could check up on that I would appreciate knowing the split's complete, I would hate to have to move :)

The Belgariad made me a reading freak.

I would like to inaugurate the FIRST ANNUAL CHICK WEEK here on the jam. So if you are of the female persuasion... say something, anything... tell me I'm a chauvanistic pig if it makes you feel any better. Hopefully this will help to drown out some of the ensueing barrage of hatecobain/lovecobain/hateload/loveload pollution.

    Hiyis,

I got my cds from CDnow on Friday, and I'm all set to order some more. But what should I get?

I've got every DT, Queensryche, Rush and Galactic Cowboys (I think - GC, Space in Your Face, Machine Fish and Feel the Rage - is that the lot?) cd, and I'm looking to getting some more from bands I might not have heard.

I got the Lemur Voice cd, which is pretty good. That singer is really cool - even if you don't know the words, you can sing along without missing a beat!

So, what should I get? I'm thinking of Savatage (I already have Streets, Edge of Thorns and DWD), maybe Angra (haven't heard em tho), definately Fates Warning (which one should I get first? Just joking, Sav :)), not sure what else...

I'm open to all suggestions - I'll sort through them all and place my order later this week.

Also, can anyone suggest a *reliable* mail order company that is on par with CDnow? I heard there's some cheaper ones around, and the case for Space in Your Face (ooh, that all rhymes!) is broken (it was like that when I got it). I'm looking for one that is very reliable, and will take the same length of time to get to Australia as CDnow (a little more than a week).

    Thanks everyone!

All of this concert crap in general makes me feel bad. Vai's gonna be in Salt Lake tonight and it make me wish I could just speed time up by two more months. Where's that guy who's a year behind when you need him. (It's at a 21 and older "no exceptions" bar from what I'm told). I turn 21 in Jan. :(

I don't do any of that. And DT is my favorite band. Weird, considering that I'm of the age group that does all that (I have friends that are into all of those things). I find that Industrial music fans are more prone to be into the above mentioned items that prog fans. I have a group of friends that plays MTG, several RPG's, are into rollerblading/skateboarding, and love anime (Akira die-hards...didn't care for the film myself, though). I guess all I really have time to do is work, play drums, and listen to music (except keep up with the Jam).

I don't skateboard, but the other two fit.

As far as anime goes, if you think it's all sex & mecha, check out "Oh My Goddess" or "Kimagure Orange Road" -- romantic comedies, and the former is my all-time favorite anime series.

I tried to read Dragonlance once, but just couldn't get into it. For me, fantasy is Tad Williams and Terry Goodkind. The former is simply a god of the enlish language (and a pretty cool guy in person, too) and the latter has some of the most realistic ideas & characters I've ever read in a afantasy novel.

Wow, I don't think I've posted since before the 'con. Sometimes, college sucks.

(IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE SEEING THIS POST, PLEASE READ IT THROUGH COMPLETELY, THERE IS ALOT OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION)

    Hey All ....

Here is my new weekly posting about how to get the most (or least if you don't like us) out of the ytsejam. This will be coming out weekly (hopefully) at least for a while since we are quickly gaining subscribers since school is now back in session. I may post it less often after a while, but for now, it will be weekly.

To get on to the Dream Theater Mailing List:

Send mail to ytsejam-request@ax.com For the subject of the message put:

    asdf

In the body of the message put:

    subscribe ytsejam Your Name

replace Your Name with your real name (eg: Ryan Skadberg). You should recieve a confirmation letter in the your mailbox within 24 hours. If you do not, mail ytsejam-owner@ax.com and I will help you out as soon as possible.

To change the mode you recieve the Dream Theater Mailing List in: There are two ways you can recieve the ytsejam. The first is in digest which is the default. This sends you a large message which contains 15-20 emails each. The other is ack mode, which means you recieve each piece of mail as it comes through. To do this:

Send mail to ytsejam-request@ax.com For the subject of the message put:

    asdf

In the body of the message put:

    set ytsejam mail ack

    OR

    set ytsejam mail digest

If you have any problems, please mail ytsejam-owner@ax.com.

To get off the Dream Theater Mailing List:

Send mail to ytsejam-request@ax.com For the subject of the message put:

    asdf

In the body of the message put:

    unsubscribe ytsejam

You should recieve a confirmation letter within 24 hours. If you don't, once again, please mail ytsejam-owner@ax.com and I will help you out as soon as I can.

To recieve files from the Dream Theater Mailing List:

There are many files kept by the mailing list server. The biggest group are old issues of the jam. It is archived since 1275. If you are looking for an issue earlier than that, please mail ytsejam-owner@ax.com and I will see what I can do. There are also other files kept on the server. These include Mike Bahr CD Updates, The "UnOfficial" Dream Theater SongBook and some others. Any time I add something I usually send a post to the jam so everyone knows about it. To get a list of the files available from the server:

Send mail to ytsejam-request@ax.com For the subject of the message put:

    asdf

In the body of the message put:

    index ytsejam

This will send you a list of all the files available from the server. To retrieve one of these files:

Send mail to ytsejam-request@ax.com For the subject of the message put:

    asdf

In the body of the message put:

    get ytsejam filename

In place of filename, put the name of the file you want.

    Basic Rules:

There are some basic rules to the jam which make everyone's reading alot more pleasant. Please try and follow them as closely as possible. I will send out warnings to people who blatantly disobey these. You get one warning, a second offense will get your jam priviledges taken away.

    1. Do not post just for the sake of posting. There is already a lot of valid traffic on this list, we don't need unnecessary posts which are a waste of everyone's time. The basic rule you should all try to follow is to think before you post.

    2. No Top Ten (Five, Twenty, Thirty, etc) lists. These lists are a waste. They take up alot of bandwidth and fill up everyone's mailbox much faster than they would like it filled up. If you want to know everyone's top somethings, please ask for ALL responses to be mailed directly to you. This has been done with the end results posted to the jam and it was very very nice.

    3. Do not start / participate in / complain about long off-topic discussions. These have gotten WAY out of hand in the past. If one starts, I will post once saying to stop and take it to private email, anyone continuing the discussion will recieve a warning. These include such topics as God, NIN, Blind Melon, bands selling out, etc.

    4. Private E-Mail is a wonderful thing. Use it when you think it may be more useful than posting to the jam.

    5. Last, but not least, this is YOUR ytsejam. I am around, and I do administrative work, but I do not say what can/cannot be talked about (most of the time) or moderate in any real way. I am the Ytsejam Administrator more than Moderator. Don't complain if the jam seems to be going downhill, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Basically, that is all the basic info. As always, if you have any problems feel free to mail me. I get ALOT of mail on a daily basis, so it sometimes takes me a while to get back to you, but 99% of the time, I will get back to you eventually.

Thanks for Reading and Enjoy the List!!!

In NJ there are two MAJOR highways. Garden State Parkway and NJ Turnpike Any map will help you to find one of those two. If you are on the Turnpike, you want the exit for the Garden State Parkway. Take the Garden State Parkway South to exit 123. It should be the second exit after the 35cent toll. There are a zillion back roads...but quite frankly, you'll get lost if you take em. **************************** Uh....Im still a girl...But, why does it matter either way? -LadyDragon
