I Mother Earth Rocks.
I believe that they toured with DT for abit. They have played multiple
times with Rush, and idolise them. Edwin ( lead vocals ) did some work
with members of Rush ( can't remember who ) under the name of Victor.
They have a really good web page at http://www.io.org/~ime, which has very
current concert listings and such.
They are a Canadian band. Whoa a cool Canadian Which almost balances out
shit like Alanis, Brain Adams, Celion Dion, etc.

You know what I like about DT? In a world where CD prices range from
$12-15, if your only getting 40 minutes of music, it's too much to pay;
unless the band kicks A** and it's a special release. DT on the other hand
givs us how many minutes? ACoS is 57:33, Awake is 75:01. ACoS was just to
tide us over and it's longer than most all of the dime-a-dozen bands
releases. Granted, when songs are as long as DT's, it takes only a few to
fill up a disc. But at least the fill it up and don't jack us for price.
Hell at 75 minutes, even if you paid $15 that's only 20 cents per minute.
Compare that with one of those pop bands say...POE, at 40 minutes that 37.5
cents per minute!!! Damn people put some tunes on your discs. Even
Metallica's new one weighed in at 78 minutes.

I dig Innocence Faded too, for a different meaning. To me it speaks a bit about
my past, and how all the bad things I went through (like drug abuse) eventually
caught up with me, and the child that never grew up quite right through all
of it
sort of finds me eventually, but when I try to look back it's only a mirror
of who
I am now...someone else (hehe, lil QRyche in there too) but even though I've
completely
changed my life, I'm still forced to deal with the
now "tarnished" me instead of the more "innocent" me I was meant to be:
"Innocence faded, the mirror falls behind you,
trinity jaded, the child will crawl to find you..."
I know that was kind of personal, but hey, almost every DT song is kind of
personal to me...

Hi
I saw a couple of Judas Priest tribute albums the other day, with bands like Fates Warning, Overkill and Angra on them.
Does anyone know if these are worth picking up? I'm not a fan of Priest, because I haven't heard much of their stuff, but seeing as there's FW and Angra on them, I thought they may be interesting to get, seeing as I haven't heard either band yet (apart from the Closer to the Heart cover by FW).
Any comments on them? Anyone even heard of them?

For me.. i think DT can be said to be "syphonic" in some kind of way..because some of their songs sound entirely "composed" like a symphony.,if you know what i mean, the bands music is very thoroughly written, and performed..kinda like a symphony.. i guess they refer to dt as symphonic in the sense that some people refer to it as "art" metal..

Please Email me privately... ok..my question is.. since its been said that Metallica was going to release 2 cd's..or at least they had material for 2..so they were gonna release another one next year.... Do you think that ,since obviously the stuff they wrote must be the same style as in load, and load being what it is to most metallica fans, that they have noticed this ..and that theyre gonna try and now not release it,wait and write something more to their "normal" style..or do you think they will keep on with the trend and screw their old fans with the whole cigar smoking, fedora wearing, gay looking [lars and kirk] :) sloppy playing attitude they have now..? :)

And I asked to order the I&W songbook and the video _Rock Discipline_. (I already had the Awake songbook from a local record store). The guy taking my order says, "You a guitar player?" And I'm like, "Uh, yeah." And he continues with, "Yeah, that video..... it's a GOOD one."
If you choose to obtain the book through another source, here's the ISBN:

what's up YTSECOWS!!!!??
I thought I'd enter my top 5 albums that caught my ear this year. Let's just say that this has been a great year for semi-underground music.
Dream Theater - Everything they've released
I might as well group these all together. This was my year for discovering DT, and we all know the reasons why we like DT. On Christmas last year I got Awake, and I've been a junkie ever since.
Psychodelic Zombiez - S.A.C.
This is a band that used to attend my school. It's really a shame that they haven't become a living legend. People, especially teenagers like me, don't know good music when thay hear it. They are a very psychojazz funky extremely groovy amazing 10 piece band. The coolest feature is the four man horn section. I can't describe how cool it is. If you have a chance to see them, do it. I can't stress this enough. And, if you have a chance to get a hold of S.A.C., DO IT!!!
Sixteen Horsepower - Sackcloth 'N' Ashes
This is another local Denver band. Again, this is extremely different music. These guys are fast becoming a national act, and they deserve it. Every song is in a different tuneing, and the guitarist plays the acordian on a few different occasions. This is a truely amazing album that will make you look at music in a totally different way. GET IT!!
Mr. Bungle - Mr. Bungle
Obviously the most diverse band I've heard in a long time. Tight as hell, and always confusing. Disco Volante is just as amazing. I can't say enough good stuff about Patton and friends. Also, check out producer John Zorn's Cobra. I just bought it today, and it is already making a lasting impression.
Faith No More - Angel Dust
I rediscovered this one just a couple of months ago. The lyrics are amazing pieces of work, and I relate so well. This album is the reason why I get pissed when I read a reader's poll and see that Maralyn Manson gets second place, and Patton gets eighth for best singer. When will America wake up?
Metropolis update: Wow, some people are getting the wrong Idea on the net. This is not a marching band arrangement, this is just for our percussion ensemble to do. We are going to perform Metropolis all on percussion instruments. Yes, there are competitions for this.(isn't that cool?) Anyway, we just had the auditions on Tuesday. Only four people auditioned for five mallet parts, so I am pretty much assured a spot on the mallet squad. I just hope that I get to play the low end Marimba. That way, I get to play the bass solo!!
If you would like to be put on a list of people that might be recieving recordings of our percussion ensemble in the case that we get Metropolis recorded, drop me a line and I will be happy to add you.
Later, Cory
P.S. My name is not Sheila. I have to use my Mom's account, so I come up as Sheila, but I am and will always be CORY.

ahhh, just finished up Thomas Harris's Red Dragon... highly highly recommended to everyone who hasnt read it... i think i'll probably crack open Silence of the Lambs sometime soon... like as soon as i get my paws on it.
few questions if you'd all be so kind as to point me in direction-
are there any (not c|net) news web searches out there? i mean somewhere i can search and pull up REALLY OLD news articles? /me crosses his fingers
secondly- can anyone confirm this juicy little rumor i heard that G3 will in fact be doing a second leg next summer? hopefully including St Louis, Misery :)
anyone heard that new ozzy song? i havent yet... i'm interested to hear his new band though.. especially Joe Holmes.
well, that wraps up this no brainer... keep an eye out for a big black cow with white all over it giving the illusion of black spots.

FIRST OFF, I'M A COLLEGE STUDENT LIVING IN A DORM ROOM. I DON'T HAVE A FUCKING LAWN. SECOND, ALONG WITH MOST OTHERS ON THIS LIST (I ASSUME), I WANT TO SAY THAT CHAIN LETTERS DO NOT BELONG ON HERE. Whoops, LAPS COCK got stuck. ;)~
While we're on the subject of BS posts, if you don't have something important to say, don't post it, PLEASE!! I, myself get tons of e-mails that I consider very funny, but the Ytsejam is simply not a place or forum to post them, IMHFukingO. Especially when they're those STUPID chain letters.
I hope maybe some people will listen, if not to me then to others on the Jam who feel the same way as I do. I'm happy this kind of crap doesn't happen too often. We haven't gotten any like this in a while (Totem BS, remember?).
Please listen to me here and end the chain-letter-to-the-jam BS, or if you want, just consider this a BS post as well, and go fuck yourself. Thank you.
Later,
Peace be with you and God bless,

whhhhhhhoah, slow the roll there... i think the whole jist of that letter was to provide some comic relief and irony over the times we actually had people post real money scandal pyrimids. I kinda enjoyed it.. but then again, i *AM* demented enough find humor in shitting on people's lawns :) maybe we could alter it for the college students.. possibly change it from "lawns" to "dorm doors" =)
i do remind though that this *isnt* a place to go posting *tons* of chain letters and filling your "obligation" to send em along... once in a while a fwd doesnt hurt, but vince is very right in the sense that we dont need an overload of shit :)
in the event that i may <gasp> offend anyone in my lack of musical being in this post, i'll g'head and post something... dug into my brain last night, started recalling some old tesla chord progressions... there, that was fun :)
atually, for those of you who own both I Mother Earth discs, i'm kind of interested in the opinions about how you view the writing, thought, and production between both the cds. any takers? :)

I agree that those things don't belong here, but you sound like a f*****g asshole now, too. That wasn't an actuall chain letter there, bub. It was a joke (and a pretty funny one, IMO). I didn't see you get all tweaked when that turkey poem got posted last week. Take a chill pill. Besides, if you don't lay off the caps, people are gonna have to start smacking youaround a bit. Yes, I think Kurt did suck, but I have some problems with that respect part. It's hard to respect an "artist" that scribbles on a pad with a purple crayon, and for me, it's tough to respect a "musician" that pretty much does the sonic equivalent.
