    the DREG Records site, check it out... Clockwork is some serious
    progressive metal...

    Damn, this thing is great! What a good songwriter Vai is. Now, if only he can pull it off live...

    This sure cheers me up after the _Joe Satriani_/_Venus Isle_ debacles (flame, if you desire). I don't know why some were dissin' the second "side". I think the vocal tracks are way cool, too. Looking forward to the 11th in Concord. I'll be wearing my black ytsejam sweatshirt (it'll be cold), so look for me!

    >also if we do, lets all go over to the Arch and try and knock it over. >rrrah :) oh man.... i just picture a bunch of drunk ytsejammers >trashing around the riverfront. wooo!!!!!!!!!!! Yeha, dude. I can see everyone trying to knock the Arch over. Or maybe seeing how many we can fit in one of those teeny elevators that goes up to the top, then trying to open the windows so we can all hurl out it. YEE HAAA!!!! hey, wait a minute. Aren't you a bit young to be a "drunk ytsejammer?" :^). And we could all go over to the Science Center and catch the Laser Floyd show after the con (maybe we could get a special DT Laser show). Or we could go crash the midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Tivoli. I'm psyched already.

    >Waltari - Yeah! Yeah! Die! Die! (the subtitle says it all: death metal >symphony in deep C. A real soprano, a symphony orchestra, and a death >metal band all together. If you dig this, you might also dig Believer and maybe Paramecium. Yeah, they are Chrisitan bands (another label I hate. I just call them bands anymore), but they mix some of the same type of stuff. Believer tends a bit mroe toward the thrash vein with not so growly vocals (more of a gravelly yell), and has some jazz influences here and there. Some straight-ahead thrash, too (they do a killer cover of U2's "Like a Song..."). Paramecium tends more toward the doom/death metal genre with heavier detuned guitars and mroe deep/death vox. Also, if you dig some goth metal, try out Saviour Machine (if you haven't already). Cheers.

    +-------------------------------------------------------+ | | | Ytsejam T-Shirts | | | +-------------------------------------------------------+

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ** I spoke with the print shop today, and the production on the shirts ** has begun. They are working on separations and screen burning to get ** the color graphic for the front of the shirt right. Things look great, ** and I will have the shirts this weekend.

    It looks like the tshirts for YtseCon III have been canceled. Jeff Chew has decided to make my Ytsejam shirt the official shirt of YtseCon III. The shirt will still debut at YtseCon III as planned. For those of you asking, I can't mail out shirts before the Con. Even my girlfriend isn't getting one before the Con. :) If you don't know if you're going yet, don't panic, if you're there, pick it up there, if not, I'll mail if after the Con as planned.

    ======= Details =======

    The Ytsejam shirts are two sided prints. The front of the shirt features a *full color* raytraced graphic from Chris Haley in Washington. The graphic is a beautifully done scene with the Majesty logo floating behind a group of marble columns on a tile floor with a wide view of space visible behind.

    The back of the shirt will be done in a solid blue color. The majority of the design is a huge Majesty logo, framed by the Dream Theater title at the top, the mailing list address on the sides and "Ytsejam" at the bottom. Below that is "Internet Mailing List" between two more Majesty logos.

    The print order has been increased to 200 shirts. I'm hoping that this will cover all of the orders, but if I have to, I will do a second run.

    You can check out all of the details, as well as a preview of the shirts at: http://www.phlab.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

    Please note: Due to some legal issues, the University will no longer allow me to keep this commercial advertisement on their server. To sidestep this issue, Chris Merlo was kind enough to put the page up on his account. Please go to the URL above and follow the link to the new site.

    ======= Pricing =======

    The cost of the shirts is $16 each. The shirt is damn close to concert quality, so $16 is a steal (last Dream Theater concert I was at charged $23 for a shirt!). If you require a size larger than XL, please let me know ASAP so I can get those orders in. There is an additional $1 charge for each size increase (ie. XXL = $17). If you are picking the shirt up from me directly or will be at YtseCon III, the $16 price stands. If you won't be at the Con and can't get the shirt in person, you can order one through the mail for $20 to cover shipping.

    I spoke with the people at the post office and I've decided to set the shipping prices outside the USA at $9, for a total of $25. I realize this is damn expensive for a tshirt, and I'm sorry. If individual prices are signifigantly less expensive, I will gladly return a check for the balance.

    The rundown: M, L or XL shirt, pick up, or at the Con: $16 M, L or XL shirt, mailed in the US: $20 M, L or XL shirt, mailed outside the US: $25 XXL add $1 XXXL add $2

    ============ Availability ============

    Size: Reserved: Held: Remaining: ----- --------- ----- ---------- M 0 1 4 L 1 0 29 XL 15 2 123 XXL 3 8 9 XXXL 1 1 3

    ======== Ordering ========

    The shirts are open to pre-ordering now. You can reserve one by check or money order to ensure that you will get one. I definitely recommend this. By ordering early, you can make sure you get a shirt, as well as ensure that the whole project goes of without a hitch. Checks and money orders will be held until the weekend before the Con (Oct. 4th) at which point they will be cashed to cover the rest of the payment when I pick up the shirts. Those of you at the Con will receive your shirts then. Mail orders will begin shipping the week after the Con, most likely on that Wednesday (Oct. 16th).

    To order, send a check or money order for the proper amount (see pricing above) to:

    Pat Griffin 573A Hudson Hall 1202 E. Rollins St. Columbia, MO 65201

    Make them payable to Pat Griffin, and remember this in US dollars.

    Be sure to include: Your name. Email address. Mailing address. Phone number. Quantity of shirts you want to order. The size of each. Whether or not you will be at YtseCon III.

    I will keep you up to date on the status of the shirts through email.

    The graphics came out absolutely great, the music and the arrangement of it all are great. I also thought your statement on the back page of the booklet was very well-put. I think it's a very attractive product overall; I'm very glad to be in there.

    Best of luck with it, and keep me updated when you can with any news..

    Oh yeah!! It's such an INTENSE record. The arrangements aren't really complex, but there's a lot happening that makes you listen to the tracks over and over to see if you missed anything.

    >I understand that the record is not out in the states yet, is that true? >It's an advantage living in Europe sometimes ;-)

    Wow! I didn't know that. That's a shame because it's a real winner. To think that I used to see her all the time in little clubs around Toronto. Time flies!

Oh well. So how did it turn out? Of course, I don't want to know, but you better tell me just to purify your soul. It's not like I'm going to go out and try it if you guys were successful. No really. Alright, let's review this. You feel that the world is a better place to live since Kurt Cobain is dead? Like what impact did he have on your world anyway? Did you lose a night's sleep over him, ever miss a day of work because of him, etc.? I really don't think so. Think about the people he did make an impact on for a minute. He brought a new life into this world w/ the help of Courtney (I don't care of her either, but that's not my business). He had people who were close to him that probably feel his loss immensely. He gave a voice to a bunch of angered souls that Nirvana sold out shows to. Yes, the man was a junkie and the man did have problems. It's sad that he couldn't find away to work through them and eventually had a decent life. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for him to try to clean up his act. He had the press watching him, his fans watching him and minimal support from his partner because she had her own set of baggage and problems that only put further pressure on him. Not to mention that his own body and mind had come to crave and rely on the drugs to get him through a simple hour out of a day. It's even more sorrowful that in the end he could only find his peace from a bullet.

    Alright, that's enough of my rambling.

    I know Skid Row is exactly an innovative band, but what does everyone think of Sebastian Bach (nice name...)? I thought his tracks on Working Man were pretty good. I think he sings with a lot of conviction and would make a helluva frontman for a progressive metal band.
