     Hi! I'm Keiji from Japan.

Someone told about Sava's Japan Live thing. So here's their previous live
    shows in Japan.

    1992-03-12 Club Citta,Kawasaki
03-14 Budohkan,Tokyo (Opening act for Yngwie Malmsteen)

The Budohkan show was video-recorded and aired on TVK 'Sony Music TV'

    1994-11-08 W'ohol,Osaka
              11-10 Bottomline,Nagoya
              11-11 Club Citta,Kawasaki
              11-12 Club Citta,Kawasaki

The Citta shows were recorded (for CD and video). It's titled 'Japan Live
    '94' available from MVP/Zero.corp.

     1996-06-13 Koumei a.m.Hall,Osaka
               06-14 Shibuya On Air West,Tokyo
               06-15 Club Citta,Kawasaki

The On Air West show was officially recorded by Zero Corp. and we could
hear on radio and their tel service during July.

Well, the sound quality of 'Japan live '94' is nice, but I think a bit
studio-made-live album,'cuz, a lot of sound dub. You can feel they were
playing at arena, though they played at club (capacity,1300+). But their
performance is incredible. The highlight of this live album/video is the
song "Gutter Bullet". Jon Oliva just played guitar and keyboard so far,and
he finally started singing on "Gutter Bullet" (duo with Zach). It's
incredible. This CD doesn't contain full size live set,so video (full set)
    is prfered choice,I think.
How about visiting their Japanese label homepage?

     MVP/Zero Corp. http://www.pineapple.co.jp/MVP/MVP.html

You can get sound files and visit some on-line shops

     About bootleg...
I bought Audience recorded Shibuya show (2CDs). It's nice.Worth paying
    4700 yen(43 Us dollars).
Sound quality is nice. If you like Sava',then you should buy this boot.
Yeah,I think MVP/Zero will not release what they recorded (Releasing
Live-in-Japan-album every time the band come to Japan will not appeal
commercialy.) So we'll never get official recorded DWD tour,so
audience-recorded boot will be the only way.

    Thanks.

     Hi!

Speaking of Joe Stump,he(no,actually as the band) released another album. It's

Joe Stump's Reign Of Terror "Light In The Sky"

He organized his band Reign Of Terror and released this album from
    Brunette/Alfa on Feb.'96.
    here's line-up:

    Joe Stump (G)
    Brian Sarvera (Vo)
    John Risti (B)
    Jamie Curci (Ds)

This is 11 tracks heavy metal album. (10 tracks with vocal and 1
instrumental song.) It's very '80s style. IMO,it sounds like Yngwie plays
with Annihilator. I'll recommend this album,if you want to know about Joe
    Stump.

    Thanks

Fucking A! Only that it shouldn't happen before next summer if you

    ------------------------------

Excuse some of my wording and the spelling of names, since I'm translating this from Japanese to English... The original Japanese was also translated from English to japanese, so what you're reading here is what Geddy Lee said, --->translated to Japanese ----> translated to English by me, so please bear with me...

    <enough rubbish>

Player> By the way, we've heard that you had some problems with the recently released rush tribute album, "Working Man", but please expand on that...

Lee> It's not as big to have to call it 'trouble.' First, when I heard about the album, I had heard that the label <magna carta> was one that only released Tribute Albums. However, they weren't making it to show respect for the artist, but they were trying to use our -name- to grab money from the fans. That's a betrayal to the fans. It's not that I don't like the idea of a tribute album. Niel just made a tribute to Buddy Rich, <sp?> for example. The focus of the matter is, the motive to make the album. If it were not only for money, and also had to do with paying respect, then I'd be happy to have it made. Just that... we didn't oppose the album THAT seriously. We were too busy making an album of our own. The articles saying something about us being furious, were totally ridiculous.

Player> If you were to make a tribute album to somebody, who would it be?

Lee> Within the realm of rock musicians, it would be Pete Townsend of the Who. He's the ultimate rock songwriter. But almost all the artists that I respect, including Pete, are still in the business; the word "Tribute" sounds like something you make after he died, you know...

They also said something about making a live album, out of some performances in the last tour, etc...

That's it for me... Sorry if the sentences were kinda hard to read, translations don't come too naturally to me...

    Hello Jammers,

I went and saw Tori Amos live for the first time last night at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore. The former lead singer of School of Fish (I believe that was the band's name, they sang a song called 3 Strange Days) opened for Tori, he played guitar and sang, and was a pretty cool entertainer. Tori came on after a 30 minute break and had a harpsichord and piano facing each other so that she could just turn and switch off, she also got some guitar accompanyment on some tunes. Later in the show they crew replaced the harpsichord with an organ. I can't remember the order of the songs that well but she played:

Beauty Queen / Horses / Blood Roses / Tatula / Caught A Light Sneeze / Cornflake Girl / Precious Things / Me and a Gun / Somewhere Over the Rainbow / Daniel (Elton John) / Hey Anastasia / Sweet Dreams / Little Amsterdam / Twinkle / Leather / London Girl

I believe that includes all of the songs. The best word to describe the concert is "emotional", Tori draws you into her world, where things are painful and her music is her release, and she presents that music to her audience. The silence during Me and a Gun was paralyzing. Great stuff for those of you (and I know there are many) on the jam who like Tori, go see her live if you get a chance, you won't regret it.

On to lighting, some nice projections on an obtuse triangular screen, and below the screen to the right were three light pods that when in use accented the screen since they were also in a triangular pattern. There were light pods that hung from the ceiling and moved about. The projections were usually water or a multicolored light wash. But the lighting accented the music well, Peter Frampton wouldn't have felt at home under this lighting set, and that is a good thing.

    Later all,

    Jammers;

Do I hear that DT have written plenty of new material for next album but have not started recording due to lack of producer?

Knowing little about the music/recording industry, I somewhat hesitate in making a suggestion BUT, I think that Peter Collins has done some great work with Rush and Queensryche and several others. (In fact, when I first heard "Silent Lucidity" I went out looking for the album and I literally bought Empire based on seeing Peter Collins on credits on back of CD, honest!)

Anyone know anything about this gentleman and the possibilities?

And I think we're all here to talk about our favorite (or one of our favorite) band. Let's not try bashing other styles of music or other bands. Let's discuss Dream Theater, or Dream Theater related music. Let's keep the bashing for the bands who bash DT (LET'S BASH BLIND MELON, KILL BLIND MELON).

Btw, I'm still waiting to hear about the release of the next DT album, by reading here I saw that it's in production. That's a good thing. Can't to hear about Metropolis Part II.

Hmm, do anybody here know why DT seems to be shunning Montreal? They did not came here in a whole long time (Since after the release of Images and Words), I know there was at least 2 or 3 tours after that... I was at the last show and we received them well...I don't know why they didn't came back!

I just finished reading Damon's post on people NOT going to the con, and I have to agree with him. I'm *very* disappointed that many of the people that I wa looking forward to meeting there are no longer going to go (or weren't going in the first place, as the case may be).

Look, folks - this is a big deal. :)

Those of you who were talking with me on IRC the other night know that my GF and I are having a baby real soon now. Those of you that *didn't* know, *do* know now. :) Now, that being the case, I obviously don't have a lot of diposable income to fritter away on non-essential activities....but I absolutely AM GOING to the Ytsecon. (The way I figure it, I'm not going on any *other* trips for about the next five years now, better get while the getting's good. :))

Now D-Man had a good excuse. If that's the only day the test is offered, you gotta do it. All I can say, though, is that I'm gonna be in NYC Friday morning until Sunday afternoon and if you don't at least put in an appearance, there'll be hell to pay. :)

And to anyone who's not coming because they think money is an issue.....

    T H I N K A G A I N ! ! ! ! :)

Live a little, folks. I'm gonna be there. It's gonna be, like, kewl.

    Fellow Dream Theater fans,

Lately all I seem to do, when I write to the mailing list, is talk about my DT site on the net, but I have to talk about it at least one more time. Sorry if I bore you with this shit, but I hope some people actually care.

    1. My site is back!!! Halfway last month my provider decided to shut down my homepage, because of the reason that I generated too much datatraffic. (which I still think is absurd) Therefore I am moving my page shortly to a new location, details follow. Right now the page can still be visited at: http://www1.tip.nl/users/t198275

    2. Because of the fact that I mirror the DT Faq (by D-Man) and the song- book (by Michael Kizer), I will still keep some files here in Holland (for geographical reasons)

    3. The YtseNet pages (IRC) are nearing completeness, only thing is ---> please <--- send me a short bio and a picture to be included in it. Also what is vital to put in your bio: your Nickname! I hope to see some more bios and pics soon.
