Hey, what happened to the header? And the first couple of sentences?
It still makes some sense, granted, but, more of this "sense" would be
helpful... The bands I mentioned were in the Syn-Phonic catalog, I
might add, this being one of the sentences sucked down the Ytsevortex.

Well, yesterday was Sweetest day... the mother of Hallmark Holidays.

Of course being male, I had no clue that I almost caused a problem (the GF
was on her way over before I even woke up in the morning. Lo and behold
when she gets there she has a box of Fanny May meltaways and a sweetest day
card in hand. At first I was confused... and then I remembered... my
Ytsejam shirts arrived the night before, and I ordered one for her! So I
casually walk up to my room and got her the shirt as though "I planned it
this way" Heh heh heh... Pat, good timing. Great shirt too. The shirt
looks like your run of the mill "It says DT on it! I have to buy it!"
shirt... except that it's artwork made only for this shirt, and the back
says ytsejam@ax.com on it among other things. This will be the coolest
shirt at the G3 concert and the next DT concert. Also, I guarantee that
wearing a ytsejam shirt to one of their shows will increase the chance of
getting backstage. Buy them soon... and buy them often!

I have to agree - I listened to it over and over, at least 20 or 30 times,
and I only liked it LESS! Sure, these are skilled musicians, but I dunno,
they just don't come close to DT. We are spoiled! I fell the same way
about Enchant - wimpy, wimpy, wimpy! My Esteemed Opinion - don't waste your
    cash on the "E" bands!

I forgot to mention that I got my YsteJam T-shirt form Pat Griffin the other
day. Let me be honest with you....I haven't bought a "concert" t-shirt in
years, because I thought I'd grown out of them. But due to my overwhelming
fascination with you-know-whom, I figured "what the heck."

Pat mentions in his Web ad that his shirts are "near" concert quality. No
Way! His shirts, IMO, are FAR BEYOND concert T quality, and well worth the
$16 plus shipping. The tee is Fruit Of The Loom "Loftees", which is
super-thick fabric with high quality stitching. Don't get me wrong, it's not
a sweatshirt, but if only all my tees were as nice. When was the last time
you went to a show and bought a shirt for under $20? And another thing, I
got an XL, but was worried that it might be a bit too small. I'm not a huge
guy, but I've often found that XL's shrink big-time into something that no
longer fits well. Pat's XL's are definitely big, with shrinkage room to
spare (for those of you who wash clothes using hot water).

I also think that Pat has done a great service to us all by fronting a load
of cash to put together this t-shirt project. He didn't have to do it, and
in turn, ended up with the Official YsteCon III tee, and something for those
who are just proud to be on the 'Jam and a part of such an influential
    community.

Another comment on Pat's work ethic: I really liked how well coordinated
everything was. He posted regular updates about the status of the job,
whether he got your cash or not, when he shipped, etc. Very professional.

So, my advice to you, if you haven't done so already, is to get a YtseJam
tee before they're all gone. You can definitely count me in for the next
Reality 2 Design creation, if there ever is one.

    Take care,

    -Rick

Hey, all, I was just wondering, after doing so again today, what
people use to clean their guitars with. I usually use baby oil, but
someone told me that's not good for it. Being a person who hates to
damage my guitar any more than it already is, could someone
    enlighten me?

Also, I was flipping through the FAQ and nowhere does it say what
kind of gear Derek uses. I was kinda curious to find out what synths
he uses and what he runs them through. If I could get this info,
    that would be great, too.

If "mink oi"l comes from minks, makes you wonder where "baby oil" comes
    from don't it?

I believe you misunderstood my message. I said I prefer MUSIC that makes me
think a bit. Yes indeed, Peart's lyrics do explore various facets of life
that are thought provoking. I don't agree with his humanistic views in the
least. They are vain and inconsequential at best.

I was refering to changing time sigs etc... If I can sit down at my drums
after listening to any track once or twice and play/copy what I hear then I'm
bored. I'm still trying to figure out what Portnoy's doing on some parts of
WDADU, I&W, ACOS and Awake. Can we close the can? :)

I still think Rush is a great band. Excellent in concert.

Since I'm posting my 2 cents on ACOS:

I don't hate it, but it is my least favorite of DT's efforts. WDADU says to
ACOS "Can't touch this", and rightfully so. I like WDADU less than I do I&W
and Awake. I wish ACOS was engineered and produced better that it was.

    God Bless,

    Michael C.

Well, I haven't seen any other reviews yet, so I'll give mine:
    EXCELLENT!
They kicked ass. They opened with Dreamline and just proceded to rock
the Knick. It's not jsut the new stuff that's heavy, it's the new rush
    sound.
Even Closer To The Heart was crunchy! The highlight of the show: Well, I
don't wanna give it away for those of you going to see them, but I'm
sure someone else will, so I'll give you a hint. I'm thinking of a
number between 2111 and 2113, and not just a couple of pieces either.
THE WHOLE THING! Another highlight was seeing a dude with a DT shirt
walk by. Wearing my Con shirt, I ran up to him and said nice shirt. He
said the same ot me and we got to talk for a minute or two, Turns out he
was Andy Miller. When he asked me if I post often (hehe) I said "I'm
DreamNDay" and stuck out my hand. He shook my hand and was like "You
post every day! It's like your job!" That got me laughing. Funniest
thing I've heard in a while, so I'm gonna put it in my new sig. Never
caught up with D-Man though. OK, back to the mindless jibberish.

    WARNING!!!!!!!!!!! WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

The following is a review of the October 19th Rush show at the
    Knickerocker Arena in Albany, NY.

If you don't want to know what songs were played, what was on stage, who
I met, or anything pertaining to last night's show, then PAGE DOWN NOW.

    *****SPOILER***** *****SPOILER***** *****SPOILER*****
    *****SPOILER***** *****SPOILER***** *****SPOILER*****
    *****SPOILER***** *****SPOILER***** *****SPOILER*****

OK, so here's the lowdown. Last night's show was far and away the best
concert I have ever seen in my life. Rush were on top of their game like
I have never seen. Ged's voice is back with a vengeance. They played
the entirety of 2112, start to finish, which they have never ever done.
Discovery, the Dream, everything. And Ged sounded great. They also
played Natural Science, which I was totally not expecting at all.

The left side of the stage had Al's amps all lined up, all Marshalls.
The right side, though, had a refrigerator (which worked!), then Ged's
monitors, then a milkshake machine (?). Neil's acoustic kit had one bass
drum with the stone guy on the front, and his electric kit had two
smaller bass drums with the fractal on the front. There were two
satellite dishes on each side, and lasers shot out of the middle of
each. The light show was, as expected, outstanding.

There's so much else to say, but I can barely remember. I was in shock
most of the night. I got to see Andy Keegan and Brian Cox again, which
was cool. I also met Andy Miller from Delaware which was really cool.
Funny how you can see someone wearing a DT shirt and just *know* that
    you're supposed to know them.

The guy two seats behind me saw my DT shirt and yelled "Dream Theater!!
Arright!" and we hi-5ed and talked about them a little. Weird thing: As
I walked down to my seats the soundguy was playing a *terrible* cover
version of The Spirit of Radio. Funny how they feel ok playing that at
the show, but they hate WM. :-\ They also played some stuff from Victor
during the intermission, which I thought was cool. Oh, yeah, they had
this great cartoon during the intermission. The one with the dancing
cupcakes singing "Let's go out to the lobby..." It was funny, but I
would have appreciated it more were I not still in a state of shock after
    the closing of 2112. :)

If you have the chance to see this tour, do it. This is their best show
in years. Those of you that will be at the Fleet Center on Nov. 9th, see
    ya there!!!

    Still drooling,
    D-Man
