    Hey all,

I want to go to the G3 TOUR in Dallas on OCT 20th. I called
ticket master, and the show was SOLD OUT. :(

Does anyone know where I can get 2 tickets for the show?

I am going to Dallas from Kansas City.

                           take care,

                                   todd s

I know there are "ticket resellers" in the city, I just don't know
    any of them.

Whatever... How many times have I heard that in the last, what is it 2
years or so? I dont even know what tapes I wanted from you. I dont even
know what address you have for me since I have moved a few times. Come to

You've gotten a pretty bad rap her on the jam since you have been off it.

    Hey all,

Me again, I wanted to let everyone know that radio is not dead, just in ICU.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been hearing both PMU and LIE on the
ONLY radio station I listen to here in NJ, WSOU. I did not think it worthy
of sharing this info as both are not new to the radio. In fact, were it not
for PMU being played on mainstream radio 4 years ago, I would not be here
now, but I digress. Now in the last week, twice in the morning, on my way to
work (which is only ten minutes away) I have been blessed with PMU to jam to
on the way to work. Today, halfway to work, get this, they played
Metropolis!!!! It starts, and I am thinking no big deal, I know this song,
then it hits me, this is DT, this is Metropolis, this is ON THE AIR!!! I
crank my horrible car stereo and jam into the parking lot, but of course it
aint over yet, so I just sit in the car and jam. Who cares if I am 10
    minutes late!!!

There is NOTHING like LOUD, HIGH energy music to get you in the right mood in
the morning. Unfortunately, working a helpdesk, it does not take long to be
brought back down to earth, but it is great while the mood lasts.

Just thought I would share that with y'all; I'm SURE some of you can relate.

    L8R,
    Brian

Start off with "little earthquakes." That's her 1st official CD and it's
    her best.

Yes. He played the violin for 12 years before deciding to take up the

I noticed that people have started making political statements.
(Syrinx, Pat, etc.) Please refrain from doing so. I think that
    it would be better for everyone if we were to just leave it alone;
you know whom you like - you aren't going to convince anyone to switch
his vote based on a measly post. This was not meant to be inflammatory-
only to head it off at the pass. I begrudge no one his political opinions, I
just have the feeling that it would be inappropriate material for this list.

To the guy that's managed to start up another flame war: If you're so
interested in other people's opinions about which album is everybody's
favorite, etc., why don't you look on the net? There's tons of polls
about which songs are the best, which albums are the best, which dude in
the band is the best, (all opinions of course, perhaps I shouldn't have
used the word "best") Just trying to save you some trouble.

I agree with D-man. Being a Ytsevet myself, I'd say that he represents the
    whole pretty well.

Here are some answers for all that I might actually know!

    1. I heard a rumor that Portnoy said at a clinic that Metropolis
part 2 is done. Is it true, and if it is will it be on their next album?

I saw Mikes clinic in Ohio a couple months ago and at that time he said
that 'yes' Metropolis 2 would definitely be on the next album.....

    2. Whoa! The track listing for their next album seems to be 90+ minutes.
what do you think, do you think we can convince them to go ahead and
make it a 2-CD set (A dream come true!!) or do you think they'll cut out
    some
    of the music?

At the same time Mike said that, while they would like to put out a double
album, the label was a little reluctant, but the band still had
hopes....waddaya say all? Should we flex our considerable influence and
let the label know what we think?

    5. What's the rumor about this 60 minute long FW song? And which album
has "Ivory Gates of Heaven" on it?

The tune 'The Ivory gate Of Dreams' is off the No Exit CD. It runs 21:25
and is presented in eight movements. IMO this album isn't that great for
various reasons and I much prefer 'Parallels'. But I don't think anyone
should try to compare FW to DT. Just take FW for what they are, enjoy the
music and hope that DT will be around as long as they have been!!!

grabbed the band by the balls and went into the studio -- without the
producer. We've been in there since June recording every note of our
jams, our practices, even some live shows we did when we got bored. We've
been recording fifty to sixty hours of material a week! I'm negotiating

JP : "Well I'm feeling great! I mean I stopped sleeping a couple of
months ago and that gave me a lot more time to write music and practice,
especially with those 8 hour studio sessions every day. Mike loves
it...he's a real animal. That guy's been taking some vitamins and speed
and shit, some protein powder... All kinds of stuff. You should see him
-- with all that drumming he looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger.. He's the
one that got me on to the no-sleep thing in the first place.

"As for John and Derek, they're hangin' in there. I gave them the day
off today, and I let them sleep when they're not in the studio. It's kind
of rough on them, but they're real troopers.

"I'll tell who we got to watch, though, is James. I give him every
other day off, 'cause after eight hours of screamin' like a demon he
sounds like I ran his mic through a couple of Mesa Boogie TriAxises! But
after a day's rest he's good for at least one ballad."

GP : "Speaking of ballads, what's the new album going to sound like."

JP : "Everything...and nothing you've ever heard. I mean it. No matter
what kind of music you listen to there'll be at least three songs of that
type on the new album. Derek did some techno, we got country, blues, I
brought in Wynton Marsalis and put down a couple day's worth of jazz stuff
I've been writing. Metal, Thrash, Rock, Pop -- Alanis sat in for one of
our live shows. But I'll tell you one thing: every minute of this stuff
is original. I even punched Wynton in the face when he tried to quote
Miles Davis' during a solo... Yeah that was the last track I did with
him. I really should apologize, but it's so important to me that this be
brand new. This is going to be the single most important work in the
    history of music.

"It's supposed to be a secret... but I'll let you in anyway. The
band kind of got sick of this at the beginning of August so I let them
take a couple weeks...well, really the whole month off. But anyway,
during that time I recorded my first nine symphonies with several
different orchestras, Atlanta, Chicago...well, I went through a lot
because they didn't like my conducting -- lazy morons. Those guys can't
sit still for more than four hours at a time... But anyway, at least four
of the nine of them will be on the new album.."

GP : "That was a joke, right?"

JP : "What was a joke? Those symphony players being lazy? No, they're
lazy as shit! If I could play 100 instruments at the same time I wouldn't
    need those guys at all."

GP : "Nevermind, I guess it wasn't. Scary. You're a scary guy John."

JP : "Wait 'till you hear the 12-tone stuff!

    GP : ...
