Exactly why I got tired of most of the 80's shit. Been there, done
    that.

    > I heard the 60's sucked the first time.

    Easy, killer! :)

    -----------------

Regarding the best DT anything, look, if you had listened to me the
first time when I said ACoS is THE best, we wouldn't have to be
re-hasing it out again wasting who knows how many millions and millions
of bytes of bandwidth...it'd be in the freakin' FAQ by now! It's really
quite simple and here's how it works. Clean the wax out of your ears and
listen :) DT keeps getting better and better as we progress forward in
time, so ACoS must be THE best (unless you are in time-warp, of course).
Now, don't make me go through this again, or I will hunt you down...

    Have a sweet afternoon!

ok, brace yourselves guys, this one's on the new KoRn cd, so if you dont
like em, its time to skip this message, not give me shit about how you dont
    like em later :)

picked it up yesterday, its simply amazing... industrial strength tartar
control crest doesnt even give as much plaq fighting power as just one track
off this disc.. i cant pull it out of the player! hell, i was planning on
hopping out to pick up an old FW disc today, but decided to wait til
tomorrow because i knew i'd never put it in for a while anyway :) these
guys are simply smashing the hell out of everything they can find :)

i think we should get JP, Vai, Azagthoth, Head, Munkey, and whoever else and
have something like a G3 tour... except its just a big tour of 7 string axe
    players. RRRRRRa.

more than we will ever know .. Perhaps I'll tell you this story next

    Jammers & Neil

First, Neil Gallop; please email me. We have lost contact and I
am pretty sure my server is no longer sending my messages
    your way. Thanks.

Neil might be insane ("strait-jacket"; approx his own words) but he brings
    up a good point:
    >Lots of postings about Mr. Moore (or less) at the moment, and I was wondering
    >how many of his die-hard fans/supporters would rave about the Chromakey stuff
    >if they had heard it for the first time without knowing who it was by. I must
    >admit I was very disappointed by what I heard. Perhaps I might have thought
    >"hmm, interesting, some potential, listen again in a year or so" if I hadn't
    >known who it was.

I am under the impression that we are often impartial to material
written and performed by musicians that we know or respect and newcomers
are not so readily accepted. I was guilty of buying everything Phil Collins
did solo and I find that I do not play it so much anymore (he does have some
excellent tracks on his solo albums but most is mediocre). I want to give
Kevin Moore credit for stating his musical interests and pursuing them even
if it meant leaving DT. No matter what genre he will choose to develop I hope
that he is held to the highest expectations of the new and old fans, and not rest
on his laurels. It is MHO that he is a very talented musician and will succeed
in rising to the top once again.

Speaking of giving new talent a fair listen, I must give my .02c worth of hurrah
for CLOCKWORK. I have had "Weaving Webs of TIme" in my cassette deck for a
week now and I cannot bring myself to play anything else. NOT a DT clone by
any means and it fits my expectations and interests in rock music almost entirely.

    Later;
    Kevin D.

Don't worry, I know how listservs work. I'm on a few, actually.
And as with all lists I've ever seen, there are questions asked. That is
the only way someone can learn, or, in the case of the question I posted,
find out what the general opinions of the people are. I have found out,
so far, that people here generally stick their noses in the air to
questions asked by newcomers to the list and those who ask them. Not the
    most kind welcome, I'd say.

Here's what I got from Maria at Metal Blade concerning the new FW LP:

Fates release date is unknown. They record in a couple
of weeks. Kevin will play keys (but is not part of the
band per se) and Joey Vera will play bass.

         maria

Sounds interesting. I guess it's supposed to be one big song, too. 60+

Yeah, I've heard of them...as well as some other 'Jammers.

They have three major releases out, plus one indie self-titled release.

The three major releases are Saviour Machine, Saviour Machine II, and Live
in Deutchland (sp?). The first two are available on Intense Records, and
Mammoth Records (I think). The third one, I'm not sure what label (I don't
    have it).

They are a California band, and they have gotten a lot of support from
German tours. They are really good. I love 'em!! They're not like DT,
but they are definitely progressive. Very dark, moody, and gothic. Eric
Clayton has an excellent voice, and his lyrics are full of imagery. Many
religious views in the lyrics, but quite unorthodox. They *were*
predominantly sold within the CBA (Christian Booksellers Association) on
Intense/Frontline Records, but due to controversy over lyrical content and
theatrical events the CBA recalled the debut album.

Currently they are looking for a mainstream label, if not already on one.
They are writing and preparing a 3-disc trilogy, and the first CD is due
out in Jan/Feb '97...but deadlines are meant to be broken.

There other stuff is great. Machine Fish is their most "laid-back,"
though. There first two were produced by Sam Taylor (of King's X and
Atomic Opera fame). Machine Fish and their newest Feel The Rage (EP) were
produced by their drummer Alan Doss.

Of all of their albums, I'd rank 'em as such (IMO):
    1. Space In Your Face
    2. Machine Fish
    3. Galactic Cowboys

All three albums and the EP are great. SIYF has the most progressive stuff
on it (especially track #32, "Still Life Of Peace"). They do a lot with
4-part harmonies, which makes me think of KX or AiC. If you like Machine
Fish, it's a safe bet to say that you'd like there others. The s/t and
SIYF are on Geffen Goldline, which means about $8 for a BRAND NEW CD!!!
The Feel The Rage EP just came out on Oct 8th, and it should be around $10.
It's got 1 new GC song, plus 2 covers, and 2 live tracks.

Also, you can check the URL in my sig for more info on GC. I'd like to
think of it as a fairly comprehensive GC site... :)

Yeah, bought the album "K" the day it came out (the cardboard cover
thing ) its nothing like DT though, but i am glad a band has arrived
that kicks the shit out of all those "Brit pop" bands.

Maybe Oasis,Pulp,Blur(yuk) have had their day and we can look forward to
a new wave of proper British rock music from now on.

I'm sure they will do well in the U.S. cos they have a sound that's not
to far away from all those great bands of old.
If its of interest to anyone the Kula Shaker web site is at
    http://www.anderson-lembke.co.uk/Kula/Kulanews.html

The best description of their sound is and i quote"Magical mystery tour-
    period Beatles,late-1960's Pink Floyd,Hendrix,Stone Roses,Indian
    philosophy,and music,man"

i've been actually pretty lucky with my trades. but my friend, who's not on the jam anymore once tried to get a boot from Dr. Mosh (who i think still is on the list)...she contacted him in August of last year about a QR video. she sent him a cheque for it, and he cashed it right away. since then she has tried numerous times (probably around 10) to get him to send her video. she admits that he's been very nice, and appologetic each time he replied (and he did reply every time), but he always said that he'd send the video next week, or next weekend. and the video never came. there was an excuse that he didn't have a second vcr. but it's been over a year now, and if he couldn't get a second vcr he shouldn't have agreed to the deal and cashed the cheque. anyways, i don't know if any others have had problems with Dr. Mosh, but there is at least one person who has. Dr. Mosh, if you're still on this list, please send Kinga her video. she's been too patient.
