What's the matter with Kevin Moore? In his last e-mail I got in June
he wrote: "This summer I'll be recording a CD and in the Fall I'll
release it under my own label." Since July I don't get any answer
from chromakey@msn.com... is he dead, his hands were cut or what?
Now it's almost winter so where is that fucking CD? I get boring
    e-mailing "His Majesty"...

Hey guys, sorry for no DTC, but wanted to let you know about
a music (instruments and effects) site that is in completeion.
    Please visit:

    http://www.langmusic.com

The online order form is up, and you can negotiate prices with these
guys too. They're a music store in Columbus Ohio implementing
discount mail order via the Internet. They have a lot more stuff than
what you see listed, but some companies won't let them list it on their
page....if you don't see what you're looking for, email them.

    Thanks for your time,

    Dave Hatlee

Um..sorry..please dont go there and vote for john..i was reading some
stuff on there.. and they fight because when they see the same
guitarrist name a lot..they accuse one single person of multiple
voting.. and we dont want to be known like that..since they have no way
of separating the multiple voters from real one time voters..i think we
should leave this one be...since it would be strange that John Petrucci
.having at first one or 2 votes..suddenly was filled up with
votes..theyre gonna think it was by multiple voting..

Yes, I'm sure there will be a multitude of posts from people about the
'con, and I know it may seem unfair to those who didn't go, but I don't
    care. :)

As a first-time visitor to New York City, I'd also like to share some
observations on the city itself. First of all - to whoever picked the
location, it was great if you were flying in, but HORRIBLE if you were
driving. There are apparently no regular streets on Long Island -
everything is a parkway. Driving home from the Power Windows show last
night required us to drive on 3 parkways and one expressway. In a 20
minute drive. We don't even *have* three parkways in MA. Of course, we
were driving D-Man home, so it was worth it, because now I know where he
    lives. :)

Which leads to the con, and what it was really all about - the people.
It was great to finally be able to put names with faces, and meet some
really great people, although the requirement that we all kiss Mike
Bahr's feet before we could get into the hall may have been a LITTLE out
    of line....

Seriously though, we bought everything Mike brought out for us, a lot of
us bought Gabbo's kewl Ytsejam t-shirts (if you haven't bought one yet -
    do it).
We listened to Syrinx and Ibanez doing an (apparently) unrehearsed
acoustic set for us...and we took some probably rather odd pictures that
I expect will be on someone's web page(s) within the next couple of
    days.

And no, noone from the band was there. And you know what else? I
    couldn't have cared less.

A couple of final points, and then I'm outta here

    1) Don't *ever* play lazer tag against Jeff Chew. No matter what he
tells you, he *has played before. :)

    2) New York drivers honk their horns way way way WAY too much.

    3) If anybody needs to know where a certain airline's terminal is at
LaGuardia, I think we've got you covered. It seems like every time we
tried to leave the hotel (or come back to it), we ended up taking a
    scenic route through the airport.

4)To Mike Bahr, D-Man, Wisha, Gabbo, Irene, Pellaz, and all the other
wackos I finally met: As D-Man would say - you guys nok radz! :)

And now, back to everybody else's review......

I just picked this up for $13 and it is by far Marty's best work. It's not as "shredding" as his Cacophony/"Dragon's Kiss" work and not as "new age" as his "Scenes" album. It's...just right. Good arrangements, decent vocals and great guitar playing.

Hey there, I saw Portnoy at a Guitar Center clinic called 'Drummer's NIght Out' last night. Dave Lombardo, and the guy from OINGO BOINGO also played. Eric Singer was there promoting his new video and hung out for the whole night signing autographs and stuff.

First things first, Portnoy and Lombardo were both noticeably agitated at the audio equipment and the people that worked them They couldn't get good enough sound, things kept going out, and the guys working there could never find the right DAT tapes and stuff. Quite a mess!!

Anyways, Portnoy came out second and started to jam out a little solo. I noticed parts of '6:00' in it. He then said that he had just flew in from New York and was very tired. He said that he wouldn't go into too much depth about odd times and stuff because Dave Lombardo still had to play, and too check out one of his other clinics. He then put on a DAT of 'Raise the Knife'(without vocals) and jammed for twelve minutes to it. It sounds pretty cool!!!!!!!! He then broke apart the middle of Metropolis and played it without any music. He then put on another DAT, this time with VOCALS!! I'm not sure, but the song may have been 'Just let me breathe'. I picked out some lyrics that mentioned Shannon Hoon and Kurt Cobain!!!! (Maybe its DT's turn to flame!!) To tell you the truth, it sounded kind of weird. Not really with the IW sound at all. Like AWAKE with low vocals throughout. Very strange sounding. Oh well.

Portnoy was about to talk about timing and stuff but his microphone went out. He then was going to jam to 'Erotomania' but the guys there couldn't get it to work right so Mike answered a few questions. Most noticeably he said that:

METROPOLIS PART 2 IS FINISHED!!!!! (jokingly he said that now all they have to do is to learn how to play it.) He finished by doing 'Erotomania' and left. I caught him after and got an autograph and a picture with him. Ladies and Gentlemen: I got to meet THE MAN!!! He was really cool hanging out even though he wanted to watch Lombardo play. What a night!!!

Enough talking for me. Later on, Conrad Chi

    I. The Crimson Sunrise: 0:00 II. Innocence: 3:50 III. Carpe Diem: 6:54 IV. The Darkest Of Winters: 10:08 V. Another World: 13:01 VI. The Inevitable Summer: 16:58 VII. The Crimson Sunset: 19:54 or 20:13 (not too sure)

I think part VII starts at 19:54, where they re-introduce the riff from the beginning of the song, but like I said, I'm not too sure.

I love this song too, in fact it's probably my favorite song of all time! The music and lyrics are brilliant. It's an excellent example of emotions in a song, a topic that was discussed here a few days ago. It has its ups and downs, and it just carries you away to "another world". :) Have I mentioned that I love this song? :)

I just got this album a couple of weeks ago, and you're right, it does rule! The Killing Hand and Light Fuse And Get Away are two of my favorite DT songs. And how 'bout that ending on Only A Matter Of Time, eh? That's gotta be the best ending to a song, ever!

    See Ya, Jeff Taylor

Otherwise, to anyone who DOES read this today because, like me, they couldn't go to the con, there's going to be a freaky funky live internet broadcast of G3(!) tomorrow evening at 9pm Eastern. Details are at:
