         hey Jammerz!!!

Wow!!! That concert was the best I've seen in my whole life!!! the
sound was awesome, differently from the other concerts here.
Angra opened the show, playing Carry On, Wasted Years (the best
Maiden song :) ), Time, Painkiller (from the Judas tribute) and two
    others I didn't know.
The AC/DC show you may already have seen, but it was incredible.

Another thing: my e-mail will be changing in a while. How can I
start receiving the jams without re-signing?

Ok, I have an idea. I don't know if this has been brought up before but
there was much talk about a tribute to DT. I was thinking (I know that
can be dangerous but oh well...) that instead of covering a DT song we
could try to come up with originals. I'm pretty sure this would be
difficult and probably would never work but my idea just might be
possible. We could get people with taping equipment, ie. 4-tracks to
record their separate parts. For example, a drummer could record a drum
track. He (or she to be politically correct) could send said drum track
to say, a bassist. This bassist could make up their part and send it
along to a guitarist or a keyboardist or a vocalist. The tracks would
keep being passed along until the track was done. This could be done in
very creative ways... The drummer could send his track to several
different bassists, or guitarists, and several different songs would be
    produced.
This is a much more realistic idea than the tribute idea in that people
would not have to get together and record together. The quality of the
project is not important, but several interesting songs could be
    produced from this.

Please e-mail me if interested in this.

artwork is absolutely amazing! Marcel B. thanks, I will definitly order all

Ok there is no DT content here but I remember people talking up the
movie "Twister." This movie sucked so bad. This movie ranks up there
with "outbreak" and "Up Close and Personal" as the worst movies I have
seen in a very long time. The cow sceen was cool though...

What an awesume day is all that I can say...Right now, it's late Saturday
night and I've just gotten home from playing touch football with some of my
friends after leaving Jeff Chew and his buddies at some dudes house.
Before that, I say 20 of us jammers went over to Q-Zar, where I blew goats
    playing, but that's no biggie.

Now to the con. The con in my opinion was pretty cool. I heard some people
say to others that they were dishappy and wanted their money back, but all
and all, I thought that this con was successful and well run. The turn-out
was pretty good with 80 people, give or take a few . The highlights of the
con were Mike Bahr selling his CD collection which he hasn't sold yet,
including a soon to be released boot, Mike (Syrinx) and Rob (Ibanez)
jamming away with Mike on vocals as well as Mojoman messing up their stuff
periodically, and of course, finally getting to meet all the familiar faces
that we see each of every day here on the jam and on IRC.

After the con, a large amount of us decided to go to Roosevelt Field mall
and eat there. It was pretty cool just chilling there, but I had to leave
them early because John (something or another --- don't know your last name
:) had to catch a 8:30 flight. So I drove to La Guardia for the 4th time in
2 days and then right back to Long Island where the Q-Zar was.

Other little side notes about the weekend that isn't finished

    Postivies:
    - Paul Cashman crashed at my place Friday night and will again Sunday
    night. He's real cool.
    - Jeff Chew organizing the entire con, and laying out a hell of alot of
money in order to get this event to really happen. I just want to thank you
for risking a huge loss (especially for a college student) for the good of
    us, the fans of DT!
    - meeting someone from England. Yes, one person was actually sick enough to
come all the way here to NY for the con...Well, that's not the entire
reason why he's here, but lets all think that it is. :)

    Negatives:
There's only one negative thing that i can think of. It's definitely that
no one could make it on the behalf of DT. That's extremely frustrating to
us becuase we did give them many months notice, so not even one member
showing up is just wrong...I'm not the type of person to single anyone out,
but I know as a fact that one member of DT lives 10 minutes away from where
teh con is. Yet, he for some reason didn't attend. I'm sure that he had a
perfectly valid reason and a damn good reason not to come. But I still
think it's not right that not even one member came, or even had the curtesy
to call back, no I should say pick up the phone and tell the Convention
organizer Jeff Chew that he (they) couldn't make it...Sorry about all of
that, it's just that this little aspect ticked me off so much!

Overall, I had an extremely enjoyable experience and are looking forward
for future cons. Hopefully next time the band can attend. But that's not
the main reason for the cons. The main reason for the cons is to finally
meet your friends which I certainly did and won't forgot for anytime soon.

    Alright, I'll shut up now....

    later!

I hesitate to call it a bridge between NE and ||s. Harsher than the
latter a *ton* more progressive than the previous. Here they depart
    from riff-driven prog-metal. Ray's voice is a little more toned-down,
though not much more so. Static Acts is my favorite Fates song; I was
dissapointed that it didn't make it on Chasing Time.

I saw the G3 show in Concord... it kicked ass. Suprisingly, the
weakest set was done by EJ! He opened with Righteous, and you
couldn't hear the damn guitar for most of the song. I think they
got the hint when the crowd started booing. He redeemed himself
at the end when they all got on stage (+Neil Schon! I think he
lives in the Bay Area, so don't expect him to be on the rest of
the tour) and played some blues. They all did great, but Johnson's
solo was the best--- that dude's guitar is a living entity. I
missed Stu's bass solo, but this show was for the Head Wankers
    only :^)>
    *****
Okay, so I got to a small Wherehouse on Sat. in Lodi, CA (about
as memorable as the Lodi in NY State), at ~9:40 and there were
about seven people in line. Cool. But a dude or two ahead of me
were in line for Dave Matthews Band tickets. Now, I have nothing
against DMB, but the f*cking show is general admission! There was
one guy there who had to catch a flight, so his being there was
legit, but the ticket-dispenser-person asked the guy two ahead of
me (it's 10:10 by then) if he knew the show was GA (IOW, get the
f*ck to the back of the line (all four of us, by then) and let the
rest of us who were getting Rush tickets have a chance! The guy
responded, "Du-uh, yeah." Sonofabitchkitty! I was so pissed (this
guy was wasting time asking the counterperson about something that
he took a good five minutes) that I didn't even think to tell the
guy I wanted elevated seats, so I got four seats *in the very last
row on the floor*. Oh well, at least we can stand up without all
the poseurs throwing stuff at us because we did that during the
last tour. I fault Rush that time for not putting on a more exciting
show. The Billy Joel concert I went to was better than that.

Anyway, I get to the same place at 10:05 this morning (I was going to
open it up (as much as I could in my car (I miss riding motorcycles :^(>
on this farm road (I was coming 50 mi.) but my radar-detector and my
cop-sense (I scare myself sometimes :^)> saved me from perhaps getting
a ticket, so I had to do ~55 instead of 75 or 80 for a good stretch).
Cool! There are only three people ahead of me. But of course, one dickweed
was getting Raiders tickets that went on sale *last week*. More waste of
time as he's making the guy show him where the seats are at the Oakland
Coliseum. If he were such a fan, he would've gotten them last week! I was
reminded as to why I think football is a lame-ass sport (as are most team
sports, *IMO*). I did get elevated seats one section removed from stage
right, so that's not so bad. I will train in the upcoming months to do
    better in the Spring.

Well, here's knowing that there will be a million billion 'jams in the
mail box Monday from the 'Con-goers. It sure is quiet around here...
almost like the really real old days. Mommy!

    Jammers-

Went to the G3 show in Los Angeles last night. Overall, it was pretty
entertaining. The idea of each player only doing a 45 minute set was a
bit strange from an audience's perspective; I, personally am not used to
    intermissions at "rock" concerts. Notes:

Kenny Boy: Though he can certainly play, I felt as though I was
watching a Stevie Ray Vaughan cover band. Anyone else smell a devilish
rat regarding SRV's death? hehe But I guess Kenny's coping of Stevie's
style only points to the differences between he and EJ, regarding being
influenced by a style but then taking those influences and moving on.
Kenny hasn't moved on whereas EJ has and is a much better musician for
    it.

Steve Vai: Too bad he went on second. The sound guys hadn't
fine-tuned the mix at that point so his set sounded pretty terrible, way
way too quiet. The low volume allowed the cretins behind us, who had
probably just cashed their latest welfare check to come to the concert
and hear Kenny Boy, to yell "Louder!" and talk about all the things
dregs of the human gene pool talk about (not to mention spilling beer
and laughing uproaringly at said act). We moved rather than kick their
    asses.

Eric Johnson: Finally in a good seat with good sound, Eric did a very
subdued set. His lighting accompaniment was fantastic though, very
tasteful with some great color schemes. Didn't play Trademark or Cliffs
(though a peek at his set list on the mixing console said he was going
to play it). Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable set. Some cretinish
activity near us though, but not as bad as the others.

Joe Satriani: Displaying his new baldness, Joe was thoroughly
entertaining, much to my surprise. Most of that entertainment had to do
with him emphasizing songs from Surfin' and Dreaming, aka songs I knew.
The one or two I didn't know were very well done though.

The obligatory jam was...well...obligatory. The highlight was their
rendition of "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama." Poor Kenny Boy seemed
a little lost and out of place (probably having never heard the tune
before this tour) but was fine. It must have been quite a thrill just
to be on stage with the likes of the other three. EJ did a great job on
"Red House." Ok, that's it. Anyone else who is going, enjoy
yourselves, but don't be afriad to kick the shit out of low-life cretins
who are ruining everything for everyone else. There WILL be others
around you to back you up! Do it during an intermission though...

Gregor Van Der Loo sounds a lot different on Lemur Voice's Insights than he
does on Freewill. I like his voice, but I can't understand a word he says.
That's too bad cause the lyrics are real cool. I don't see why in all the
pictures Gregor is in front and all the other guys are in the back as if
they aren't as important. He's a good singer and all, but if I were to
choose an MVP, I'd have to say stick Marcel in the front.

Does anybody know the URL to DreamDisc? I've heard a bunch of stuff about

After hearing all the stories about instant friendships made just from

Hi Frederico. I don't think so...

         1) Tom Sawyer came out in 1981. DT's 6:00 came out in 1994.
         2) 2112 came out in 1976. DT's A Change of Seasons was sometime
         around
         1989.
         3) YYZ came out in 1981. DT's Ytsejam came out in 1989.
         4) Closer to the Heart came out in 1977. DT's Surrounded came out in
         1992.

Don't get me wrong. It's a -great- premise, but couldn't have
         happened
         :)

How is Frederico (?) wrong? Oooops. I see. I think you read this is
Rush songs influenced BY instead of an influence ON.

Is anyone in the Chicago area going to the annual GWAR Halloween show
at the Riviera? My friends and I are contemplating, but don't know if
it is too much gridlock or not. Lemme kno if you have a clue.
         THANKS!

         Steve

    HELP ME !!

After thinking that I read somewhere that the Korean version of LATM had
extra cuts on it, I had our company's Korean distributor seek and mail me
same. Was psyched to hear that he had picked it up and could get it to me.
Upon receipt, although there is a different insert, there are no
    additional tracks.

Could someone (Bahr, perhaps) enlighten me as to what I goofed up ??

    Thank,
    Mark Metzger

So a couple of great seats for Rush kinda just fell into my lap. If
anyone wants to go to the Rush show on this coming saturday in Albany at
the Knick, let me know. I have one extra ticket. It's on the floor,
    second section back.

P.S. I need a ride, so I would prefer it it you plan on driving. Its
going to be first come first served, but if you are going to drive to
the show, you have first priority.

Hey I guess the bad thing about getting the jam on digest is waiting to see
what other ppl thought of the con, guess when I get home tonight I can read
all about it. Anyway, to those of you who weren't able to get to the con (DT
members included) sorry.. we missed having you there, but there's always
    next time.
I think the con was fun. Meeting old and new jammers was great. Jammers
never cease to amaze me. The musical performace by Syrinx and Ibanez was a
highlight. Now would that be called the Syranez or Ibaninx show? Speaking of
Ibanez [Rob, please e-mail me]... [also Chris Oates] I guess I can get in
touch with most of you others on irc. I think anyone with critiscism
(constructive) about the con should let their voice(s) be heard. I have to
get going. Hey maybe I'll post again here sometime,...yeah and there's
always a chance that I'll complete this roll of film in the near future also
(ha). Hope everyone had fun in NY!
    Happy Columbus Day.
