Yikes! I just heard on the radio that Extreme has officially
broken up!! This, of course, strongly suggests that Gary will
    be joining Van Halen ...

I know I'm a little late, but this CD rocks! The instrumental stuff is as
good as he's ever done, and this boy can sing! The weeny track is cheesy,
though. So's the artwork. i guess you can't have your vai and eat him
    too:)

A while ago, I wrote a post asking for information on Prog Nite I was
wondering if any of you would happen to know how a band would get a gig
there. (A Toledo area band expressed an interest when I forwarded one of
the replies to them) Any info would be appreciated.

This was sent to the VH list by their road manager, Scotty Ross. This might
be of interest to us VH fans.

second- its probably just when dream and day unite, and they screwed up the
title on catalog. i know of one import place that calls it "when dreams unite"

Hey, I forgot to send in a card for BMG, and they sent me Skid Row's
"Subhuman Race," and it's actually pretty decent. I was pleasantly
surprised. Sebastian does have a pretty awesome voice, and the playing is
pretty good all-around. Hell, my roommate paid full price for it, too! Go
to BlockBuster and have a listen. You might be surprised, too.

Yeah, I'm one of those guys living in sin. (Brings back memories of Bon
Jovi, huh? ;-p) My girlfriend says that she tolerates most of my music.
(She actually said that DT were pretty cool the other day. Heh heh. I'm
converting her at last!) The one thing that she can't stand, though, is
Anthrax, which is one of my favorite bands. (Scott Ian rulez!) She also
doesn't understand why music has to be played loud. Women! Can't live with
    'em, but I do anyway.

Here is some more news about the VH/Gary Charone situation....Brandon
    ---------- Forwarded message ----------

    Brandon-
I just visited the VH news desk in hopes of some news...this is a
    paraphrasing of what I found:
1st an open letter from David Lee Roth:
Basically he stated his disgust that the MTV awards appearance was just a
publicity stunt. He had really thought the band was reforming when really
they already have a new lead singer and have had for as long as three
months!!!!!!! He bashed VH for a bit and closed off saying how disgusted
    he was...

2nd a retort from VH to be released to the press tomorrow:
Stated that they never said this was a longterm thing. this was just for
the recording of the upcoming GH album...Reading Roth's letter reminds
them of some of the reasons they fired him in the first place. They are
working with "someone" for the past couple of weeks that they hope will be
able to continue the VH magic...They can't announce who until the
contractual things have been worked out.

So this coupled with what we knew confirmed before...that Gary has been
writing with Eddie at 5150 studios and that he had been rehearsing some of
the old stuff...it looks like Gary Cherone will become the 3rd lead singer
    of Van Halen

Whether this is the end of Extreme is still unsure...supposedly from
Extreme's side there will be a press conference within 2 weeks to discuss
Extreme's fate...this doesn't sound good. I have pretty given up from
reports I've read including the following:
-Pat Badger seems to be doing absolutely nothing and just relaxing (I know
    not incriminating but oh well)
-Mike Mangini-worked with Steve Vai on his new album and is going on tour
with him...doesn't sound like a drummer with a job already
-rumors are that the reason for Nuno's delay in releasing his side project
is that he might be retooling it a bit as it's not just a side project now
but might become his full time musical endevor...

Extreme it looks like is finished. But since I really only care about
Gary and Nuno then at least I will be able to see them doing stuff...

    Greetings to all.

I just saw Marcel's post about the the upcoming LV shows in the Netherlands, and I want to ask a few questions..

    1) How many people on the Jam are going to be able to attend any of the shows?

    2) Does anyone here, especially including Marcel, have some live performances of Lemur Voice?

    3) Is it possible for those going to the upcoming shows to get permission to record them??

Generally, this whole post revolves around the fact that I'm really selfish, and I want all I can get. No, for real though, I'm really interested in getting some live recordings, and ALL input is appreciated.

Marcel, is there anything you can suggest for us Jammers? Or, can you help us out??

Thanks for taking the time! _____________________________________________________ "He had a lot to say. He had a lot of nothing to say, we'll miss him." -tOOl _____________________________________________________

I un-reluctantly purchased Tool's new offering. Damn. I can't stop listening to it. Off the top of my head, my favorites so far are #2, eulogy, #15 My third eye, #1 Stinkfest, and most of the others. Keenan has such an awesome voice. If there's any AiC fans out there, could you imagine a pairing of Keenan and Staley? It would rip my soul completey apart. So there. Enjoy. _____________________________________________________ "He had a lot to say. He had a lot of nothing to say, we'll miss him." -tOOl _____________________________________________________

I remember someone was talking about fades vs. cold stops (think that was how he said it)

I love the stop on Pull Me Under. Why? I don't know, it sounds cool. That is my judgement on the music. On BLoody Kisses by Type O Negative they do the same thing on "No I can't lose you". Fine. It ends the record. It's kind of unusual - it fits the record to a T. Here's the problem:

On their new cd "October Rust" they seem to use this on at least half the songs. THey enjoyed doing it before too much. This almost ruins an otherwise flawless cd! I was listening to it before going to bed, and every time it pissed me off. When the song is near over, I just hit the skip button, so I don't have to listen to it. It ruins the whole flow of the cd. IT PISSES ME OFF!

    (sorry, bad day today)

The original tshirts for YtseCon III have been canceled. Jeff Chew has decided to make my Ytsejam shirt the official shirt of YtseCon III. The shirt will still debut at YtseCon III as planned. For those of you asking, I can't mail out shirts before the Con. Even my girlfriend isn't getting one before the Con. :) If you don't know if you're going yet, don't panic, if you're there, pick it up there, if not, I'll mail if after the Con as planned.

    ======= Details =======

The Ytsejam shirts are two sided prints. The front of the shirt features a *full color* raytraced graphic from Chris Haley in Washington. The graphic is a beautifully done scene with the Majesty logo floating behind a group of marble columns on a tile floor with a wide view of space visible behind.

The back of the shirt will be done in a solid blue color. The majority of the design is a huge Majesty logo, framed by the Dream Theater title at the top, the mailing list address on the sides and "Ytsejam" at the bottom. Below that is "Internet Mailing List" between two more Majesty logos.

The print order has been increased to 200 shirts. I'm hoping that this will cover all of the orders, but if I have to, I will do a second run.

You can check out all of the details, as well as a preview of the shirts at: http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

Please note: Due to some legal issues, the University will no longer allow me to keep this commercial advertisement on their server. To sidestep this issue, Chris Merlo was kind enough to put the page up on his account. Please go to the URL above and follow the link to the new site.

    ======= Pricing =======

The cost of the shirts is $16 each. The shirt is damn close to concert quality, so $16 is a steal (last Dream Theater concert I was at charged $23 for a shirt!). If you require a size larger than XL, please let me know ASAP so I can get those orders in. There is an additional $1 charge for each size increase (ie. XXL = $17). If you are picking the shirt up from me directly or will be at YtseCon III, the $16 price stands. If you won't be at the Con and can't get the shirt in person, you can order one through the mail for $20 to cover shipping.

I spoke with the people at the post office and I've decided to set the shipping prices outside the USA at $9, for a total of $25. I realize this is damn expensive for a tshirt, and I'm sorry. If individual prices are signifigantly less expensive, I will gladly return a check for the balance.

The rundown: M, L or XL shirt, pick up, or at the Con: $16 M, L or XL shirt, mailed in the US: $20 M, L or XL shirt, mailed outside the US: $25 XXL add $1 XXXL add $2

    ======== Ordering ========

The shirts are open to pre-ordering now. You can reserve one by check or money order to ensure that you will get one. I definitely recommend this. By ordering early, you can make sure you get a shirt, as well as ensure that the whole project goes of without a hitch. Checks and money orders will be held until the weekend before the Con (Oct. 4th) at which point they will be cashed to cover the rest of the payment when I pick up the shirts. Those of you at the Con will receive your shirts then. Mail orders will begin shipping the week after the Con, most likely on that Wednesday (Oct. 16th).

To order, send a check or money order for the proper amount (see pricing above) to:

Pat Griffin 573A Hudson Hall 1202 E. Rollins St. Columbia, MO 65201

Make them payable to Pat Griffin, and remember this in US dollars.

Be sure to include: Your name. Email address. Mailing address. Phone number. Quantity of shirts you want to order. The size of each. Whether or not you will be at YtseCon III.

I will keep you up to date on the status of the shirts through email.
