Dammit, this all ain't right. Perhaps if some of us can be mature
enough to abandon a fight that, in this arena, cannot be fought... the Jam
would go back to being the way it WAS. I mean, I was thinking of posting
some relevant stuff, but would it even get noticed? I have to wonder.

It's good that people are strong in their own convictions about...
whatever. So let it lie... the opponent in the argument is no doubt just
as strong and will be just as impossible to sway.

Mape: I read about the Finnish dealer who had those CDs for $42
each... I'm not sure how he got them, but I do sell hundreds of discs to
Europe and at least 20-30 of every print run to Finland, so I guess
someone must have bought extra, or else that dealer might be a Jammer! :)
(or his brother might be, or something.) When I was in New York last
December, I saw Acoustic Dreams at a boot shop in the Village for $50.
(that was before WDATU was finished). I wonder how well his discs sold?

OK, now this is getting downright stupid. Can we just end this
argument by agreeing that we all disagree vehemently? Knowing that, in our
own minds, we're right about the issue, so long as we know in our hearts
that we've carefully thought it through, weighed the evidence, and arrived
    at our own judgment? Geez...

I mean, we're arguing about ethnic JOKES here. They're just jokes,
people. They get told about every group or classification there is.
They're not going to go away. They also do little more than ruffle
feathers. If a person cannot laugh at themselves, then they're the one
with the problem... not the jokester.

someone within' the past few I Mother Earth discussions noted about how the
band was labeled grunge by the general public.. i kinda thought for a
second, and yeah, i can see them hit with that label.. it was interesting to
hear also, cuz i just picked up Dig and never for one minute until i'd heard
they had a 'grunge' label on the streets thought of em anywhere near the
"grunge" scene. very cool to see how you interpret things before you're
told what they're classified at in a music store.. wonder what we'd all
think of some of the other bands out there before hearing what everyone else
hears. i can think of a lot of bands i know many friends would like if they
werent too worried that the music was 'trendy' n shit like that...

** Well, I would just like to take this chance to thank everyone who has
** been so supportive of the shirts... It's nice to know that my work on
    ** this project is appriciated.

    * Well, the sales at YtseCon III went fairly well, thank you to everyone
    * who bought a shirt. I've sold something like 70 shirts in all, which
    * is a good start. I'm hoping that orders will pick up again soon, now
    * that the Con has come and gone and things have calmed down a bit.

    * I have the shirts in my possession now, they are sitting in three big
    * boxes that take up too much space in my tiny dorm room. :) They all
    * came out exceptionally well, better than I expected, in fact. Process
    * jobs (printing color graphics one color at a time) are notorious for
    * severely distorting the graphic, but in this case, it came out very
    * true to the original.

    * The shirts were premiered at the Con this past weekend, and everyone I
    * talked to seems very happy with them. When I get the chance, I'll try
    * to lift all the comments I have gotten on them and stick them on the
    * Ytsejam Shirt web page.

    * The first set of mail orders was shipped out yesterday. A total of 15
    * orders were filled, including one airmail to Australia. Three orders
    * were not filled because of sucky banking laws in Missouri (I can't cash
    * a check in Columbia, because my savings account is in St. Louis!), but
    * I've already taken steps to fix that situation, and those orders will
    * ship out next Wednesday.

    =======
    Details
    =======

The Ytsejam shirts are two sided prints. The front of the shirt features
a *full color* raytraced graphic from Chris Hailey in Washington. The
graphic is a beautifully done scene with the Majesty logo floating behind
a group of marble columns on a tile floor with a wide view of space
    visible behind.

The back of the shirt is in a solid light blue color. The majority
of the design is a huge Majesty logo, framed by the Dream Theater title
at the top, the mailing list address on the sides and "Ytsejam" at the
bottom. Below that is "Internet Mailing List" between two more Majesty
    logos.

    * The current lot of shirts is 217 (they printed up more than I asked
    * for, but I'm not complaining). If those run out, and demand is high
    * enough, I may run another with a slightly different design.

You can check out all of the details, as well as a preview of the shirts at:
    http://www.cclabs.missouri.edu/~c675311/ytsejam/

Please note: Due to some legal issues, the University will no longer allow
me to keep this commercial advertisement on their server. To sidestep this
issue, Chris Merlo was kind enough to put the page up on his account.
Please go to the URL above and follow the link to the new site.

    =======
    Pricing
    =======

The cost of the shirts is $16 each. The shirt is damn close to concert
quality, so $16 is a steal (last Dream Theater concert I was at charged
$23 for a shirt!). If you require a size larger than XL, please let me
know ASAP so I can get those orders in. There is an additional $1 charge
for each size increase (ie. XXL = $17). If you are picking the shirt up
from me directly the $16 price stands. If you can't get the shirt in
person, you can order one through the mail for $20 to cover shipping.

I spoke with the people at the post office and I've decided to set the
shipping prices outside the USA at $9, for a total of $25. I realize
this is damn expensive for a tshirt, and I'm sorry. If individual prices
are signifigantly less expensive, I will gladly return a check for the
    balance.

    The rundown:
M, L or XL shirt, picked up: $16
M, L or XL shirt, mailed in the US: $20
M, L or XL shirt, mailed outside the US: $25
    XXL add $1
    XXXL add $2

    Ordering
    ========

    * The shirts are open to mail ordering now. Mail orders will be shipped
    * out every Wednesday via Priority Mail for US orders, and airmail for
    * all others. Checks and money orders will be cashed before the order goes
    * out, most likely on Monday. So far, mail orders have gone well, the only
    * problem I have had has been with the bank, not the post office, so don't
    * worry about your orders. All US orders are insured for the amount paid
    * for the shirts and shipping, and insurance on airmail depends on the
    * country and other aspects.

To order, send a check or money order for the proper US dollar amount (see
    pricing above) to:

    Pat Griffin
    537A Hudson Hall
    1202 E. Rollins St.
    Columbia, MO 65201

Make them payable to Pat Griffin, and remember this in US dollars.

    Be sure to include:
            Your name.
            Email address.
            Mailing address.
            Phone number.
Quantity of shirts you want to order.
            The size of each.
Whether this order is for pickup for mail order.

I will keep you up to date on the status of the shirts through email.

    Hey folks-

Just thought I'd let you know what I'll be playing on my radio show
tomorrow. I usually have plenty of prog, but I also incorporate other
elements into the show such as alternative, new age, and sometimes
classical (it's a 2 hour show). But I decided for tomorrow to have a
specialty show full of epic prog songs for those sorry Drew people.
I wanted a show consisting only of prog. Here's the setlist:

    Rush - hemispheres
    ELP - tarkus
Dream Theater - a change of seasons
The Par Lindh Project - cathedral
    Black Jester - mirrors song
Fates Warning - the eleventh hour
    Lemur Voice - deep inside
    Queensryche - suite sister mary

    Sound good?

In no way would that suck!

Another option they're sure to hop all over: they can mount up in back
of the 'ol RAM pickup and I'll string 'em up for all the world to see.

    ---------------

I know there at least several on here who are into jazz (Adam Barnhardt
<sp.> immediately comes to mind), so I'm on a quest. I recently
listened to a disc from Sam Cardon and Kurt Bestor entitled Coming Full
Circle which is a "best of" disc. I was wondering if anyone else has
heard of them. They have several discs out, each with a very polished
sound. The tunes represented from the Innovators disc, so far, are my
personal favorites. Sage of Lambere'ne' combines Classical and African
in a most unusual way. There is one song, though, in particular that I'm
referring to: Mastermind. It sounds very much like Weather Report when
they're in an up-beat, crossover kind of mood. About halfway through the
song, something happens (something wonderful :). I can repeat the
experiment reliably :) I don't know, there's just some sort of
bio-chemical reaction which occurs within me when I hear it! Yeah, my
hair stands on end! So, my quest is for more music which causes this
reaction in the hopes that it may stimulate hair growth :) Heck, even it
the rest of what's left falls out, it will have been worth the ride. If
anyone is still reading this and would like a sample, I'll be more than
    happy to make one...

    ----------------

I was gonna post a joke; but given all the stir it might cause, now I'm
not sure if it's......awww, what the hell, here goes: :):)

Q: What do Michael Jackson and the Yankees have in common?
A: They both need 12-year old boys to score.

Hope this doesn't offend any of you sick, fucking perverts that actually
consider this (catching the ball, of course) normative behavior :)

    bye bye then...

I want to thank all the Jammerz hereby for all the great support and
comments I had by E-mail. We are very grateful for that, we don't know when
we come to play in the states, that's a matter of financial situation.

I will be happy to reply.

Just take care to everyone, and for the ones who don't know, I am also a big

Point well taken about all groups of people getting laughed at at
different times or another. So when's the last time there's been a white
joke that was offensive on the 'jam. It makes me mad and I had some
choice words because somebody thought that they were really slick in
trying to get people to laugh at a totally offensive joke just b/c they
assumed that a Black or a Latino couldn't possibly like DT. That's racism
in itself. What, am I not smart enought to follow the time changes? And
even if they did assume that there were people other than WASPS on the
list, is it the best thing to post a joke that is offensive for them to
see? Is it worth it? What's the point? So am I supposed to be upset so
that everybody else can laugh? I DON'T THINK SO

Well, I won't post a long drawn out response to Mojo's letter, as I
know he won't see it, but I will say that I'm insulted. I have never
considered any of you to be "Dick Suckers" or whatever. The Ytsejam has
become a community based on a shared ideal: we all enjoy Dream Theater.
I personally believe that Mojo was on the list for the wrong reason.
Please... this list is not a kiss ass to DT. At the same time it's not a
Union that should force DT to do something, and it's not a forum to be
used for personal gain. If your goal for being on this list is to get DT
to give you stuff then you're in the wrong place.
We all know the jam is not the place it used to be. We have gone
through many changes as a group. As a community we all have our problems.
Mojo doesn't feel like helping solve the problems, and as such I bid him
farewell. I am disgusted with him, but more for his insults than anything
    else.
This is OUR jam, as everyone has stated so many times before. WE
have to make it better. We've been doing great lately... especially
considering there's been nothing new to discuss in a while. If you
dislike the jam, by all means, leave. Or, if you want to be brave, do
something about the problem. I just can't understand someone calling the
Jam "immature" and who then goes on to say "you suck dick." Take care.

Go ahead, say it! I;ve aways though of Tool as kinda proggy, more of a
musician's band then for the general public as is DT, King's X etc. I
loved Undertow and from what I've heard of AEnema, it is just as good. I
think teh drummer is incredible. He has some of the wickedest beats and
    fills I've ever heard.

That's all for now, I'll have some more comments tomorrow.
BTW, I visited that top 10 site today. I'm pretty surprised. On teh best
albums of all time, Awake actually came in at number 30, and I&W at 41.
Of course, the simple minds have voted James Hetfield best vocalist with
James right behind at 11 I believe, Portnoy made number 6 on the best
drummer list. Also, out of the 5 people that voted on best website,
    http://www.rsabbs.com/dt was #1 and http://www.dreamt.org was #6 Kewl.

Hey, on an earlier post, someone said something about DT doing a cover
    of
Metallica's Damage Inc....anyone know about this? I MUST get the boot
    with
    this on it!!!!!

I've heard (read?) once that they played that song in the
"Uncovered" show (yeah, that one of ACoS), along with many others beside
the ones we all know. And I have no idea if someone has those recorded,
and if someone does, I WANT IT!!!
They should be released together with ACoS, don't you think?
