I'm depressed. I went to see the Rush tour dates and found out they AREN'T coming to KC!!!! I'm one of the unlucky few who's never seen them in concert (i've seen the spoiler set list and I'm really jealous of anyone who gets to go experience it!). The last time they came (during the counterparts tour) I was only a freshman in HS. Now, a senior, my parents aren't too keen on the idea of me skipping school for two days to drive down to St. Louis to check them out. Interesting thing is that my sister lives in St. Louis (well goes to college at Wash-U there). If it was up to her, I would be there in a second, but it's not, so I'll just sit here on Oct 31st (well I'll actually be at work) and pout. James

NO, Thanks for sharing. 8) I have that album and I always have wondered if that story came from something that actually happened. Another thing that was different, was that on the album, it's a man and a woman from opposite sides of the war (A Bosnian man and a Muslim woman) that hear the music and both go and find the source, to find him dead, then they start walking together through the little fountain area where the guy was playing the cello... That is such a moving story eh? GREAT STUFF. I think I'll pop that cd in right now...heh. Okay you lucky bastards on the east coast (the same ones who get to see all the extra DT shows, while us folks in the midwest gets one every two years!). Just a small request, anyone who's going to the show and manages to tape the performance, I would love to get a copy of it. Okay, I'm jumping the gun a bit, but hey, I'm feeling a little DT deprived out here in Kansas. I haven't had any new progressive music to keep my desire satiated. THanks to ProgMan (is that his name, sorry if I goofed) for posting up the Enchant and Lemur Voice clips, I think I'll go pick up Enchant friday (paycheck!). Signed, Midwesterner dying for new DT

    Hiya, kids.

I know it's a tad early, but i want to get a list of jammers who are coming to the Birch Hill show. I know Ghost (you know, of ghostland?) is gonna be coming to the show with me, so if anyone's interested in hangin' before OR after the show, lemme know.

btw, if people need rides from the Philadelphia region, lemme know. I have room for two more people. No More. My car can only fit four on a comfty stature, and as everyone who saw the Petrucci clinic in Boston can tell you: The more people in my car the harder it is for me to drive. :)

I'm gonna call Bitch Hill..er...i mean Birch Hill tomorrow and ask about when the tix are going on sale. I'll post an update during the weekend to let you know.

Man, is this gonna kick ass. I've got Rush on the 6th, Tool on the 23rd, and DT on the 14th of December. Life is being very good to me.

    >From: Cunning Linguist <skooc@earthlink.net> > >I've also heard a lot of Green Day and Nirvana on KSJO. They NEVER play Kiss, >one of the most successful Metal bands of the 70's. I've lost a lot of >respect for KSJO, and every show I go to that they're at I make sure they >know that. California's only REAL metal station is gone (R.I.P KNAC).

Yes! KNAC! The good ol' days....that was just an awesome station. In fact, that period of radio in LA was pretty exciting -- the old KPPC running into KMET, with a strong KLOS. KNAC was a niche station which, at its apex, had as much influence as any station anywhere. Truly amazing. I think KROQ had reassumed that mantle, at least on the West Coast, if it ever truly lost it. I don't think much of KROQ, though....a bad flavor in my mouth from their Depeche Mode-ish past. Now they're just another altie station, albeit with a tremendous amount of weight behind it.

KSJO isn't a great station, by any means. I WOULD, however, say it's pretty good. That they play a reasonable amount of unfashionable music, like Rush and Dream Theater, is sufficient for me. Certainly in the Bay Area, they've got the most consistently interesting playlist. I don't mind not hearing Kiss....I never cared for them to begin with. To be honest, the radio in Sacramento and Cincinnati (among others) is probably as good as in the Bay Area, whether it's got signal saturation or not.

YES!!! anyone else here thinking of going to that show? oh yeah, i know i'm way, way behind on things here, but i just bought Working Man and it's pretty damn good. Sebastian Bach kicks ass! I'm no drummer, but it seems like Portnoy is the only one who can really handle Peart's stuff. I know there are some parts of songs where the other drummers totally cheesed out and made it easier, but maybe they just wanted to do that, like i said, i'm no drummer. i think this the first time i've posted in like two months. oh well, TTFN.

    >Nobody knows the difference between rock operas and epics, huh? ...not >that I do, or anything... Well, I'm pretty sure that a rock opera is like a concept album, as in Operation:Mindcrime or The Wall, but an epic refers to a really long song that tells a story, like A Change of Seasons or 2112.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please excuse my enthusiasm, as I am in a total state of shock! The Chance? Holy begesus! That's a couple of hours from my house! Not only that, but I have connections to the owner of the Chance and I can get in free to events there. I'm going to see King Diamond there next week. Plus, the place is REAL small. I have a feeling it's going to sell out. The place is so small, it's just a doorway in an alley! I'm not kidding! Plus, there's nowhere for the tour buses to park, so we'll probably all get to meet the band! OK, more on this in a minute.

I read that it's supposed to be a Tori cover, but I don't see >that >song listed on any of her albums....yet it sounds so familiar....like >Rush's >"Rivendell" or something. There's a reason. It is a Rush tune. It's on 2112.
