I dont know how everyone paid Marcel but I sent money to Mike Bahr a long
time ago. I am not sure if he has sent Marcel anything yet or when he
will. I just hope Mike Bahr definitely still has me down for having paid

these shows. Then I looked closely at the dates and....

damn it, damn it, son of a bitch...

I will be in St Maarten at that time. I guess the Caribbean is a

    Hi all,

Those of you familiar with Tori Amos and/or the DT Mind Control bootleg,
perhaps you can explain what the deal is with the tune "Tears" on Mind
Control. I read that it's supposed to be a Tori cover, but I don't see that
song listed on any of her albums....yet it sounds so familiar....like Rush's
    "Rivendell" or something.

Anyone care to enlighten me? Thanks.

Hey... sorry to those of you who consider this to be spam...

I came up with a pretty simplistic transcription to Tori Amos's "Precious
Things" for distorted guitar. I was listening to it one day and thinking
"How would this sound if it were 'metalized'?" and I decided to try it out.
I could probably send the tab via e mail if anyone wants. It's nothing
amazing, but it's cool as hell to play... mostly power chords and the main
voice of the piano melody. I came up with a way to play both of the main
pianio voicings on one guitar using some nifty chords, but I haven't really
refined it yet, and am not ready to tab it out. It seems to be a cool piece
of music to play in an instrumental context. Maybe I'll tab out the vocals
as guitar parts and see if it's possible to copy any of her emotion to
guitar. Thus far it's not a difficult song to play. I didn't throw in any
32nd notes, and the only time I do anything difficult in it is when I do
some rolling 16th notes as a dynamic picking thing. My bet is that anyone
who's been playing guitar for a year or so could play this tune the way I
    have it tabbed now.

I'm also working on a fingerpicked "Michael Hedges-esque" version of
Winter... this one is sounding cool, but it'll be a while before I have it
done. It will be pretty advanced... when I fingerpick I like to keep
everything as close to the original as possible, regardless of the technical
problems this may cause. If it comes out the way I'm planning it, I
wouldn't suggest making this one of the first fingerpicking tunes you learn!
:) Lemme know what kind of interest this brings up... preferably by private
e mail. Oh, and if anyone wants to add to these tabs let me know if you
come up with anything cool for them. Precious Things was only about 5
minutes worth of work, so I am SURE it can be improved on.

(p.s. no I'm not selling the tabs... just offering them to anyone that wants
    em.)

    Hey,

Did anyone get a dat tape of the G3 show in DALLAS TX?

I was at the show, and stood in a VERY long line. I did
see some other Ytsejam t-shirts. (I saw about 4-5 there).

but a DAT tape of the show would be great.

Is the G3 show making it to ATLANTA? or
    surrounding area...

Ok all of you prog heads out there, listen up.

I (Madison Student Radio Rep) was fortunate to listen to a copy of the
    Kinesis label progressive music sampler.

I'll give you the list of the artists, and the web page address, and the
rest is up to you. CAUTION: Many of these artists are NOT LIKE Dream
Theater in many ways, but ARE LIKE them in other (that's my DTC). I'll tell
which ones may be of interest to you all.

    1. Castanarc - "Peyote" from Journey to the East 4:34
    2. Craft - "Leo" from Craft 8:36
    3. Multi-Story - "The Wire" from East/West 5:56
    4. Ken Watson - "Next X" from Assembly 5:35
    5. Haze - "Ophelia" from In the End, 1978-1988 7:17
    6. Fonya - "Bluefoot" from Soul Travels 5:55
    7. Iluvatar - "Exodus" from Iluvatar 7:11
    8. Cathedral (not the one you may have heard before) - "Pinocchio" from
    Kingdom of Ends 10:06
    9. However - "It's Good Fun" from Sudden Dusk 3:42
    10. Earthstone - "In the Winter of Night" from Seed 10:56
    11. Jeremy - excerpt from "Deep Sleep" from Pilgram's Journey 3:00

To begin, I'll have to tell you that none of these groups fit into
the Progressive Metal category (ie DT, FW, QR, LV, and so on). These are
more Genesis, Ozric Tentacles, maybe neo-prog rock related (My stepmom would
refer to the music as "dreamy"). Many of the artists (remember, this is
after like 2 listens MAX) remind me of Magna Carta's Enchant, Cairo, and
World Trade. More song and texture oriented, rather than pure power like we
    seem to like.
The first must have of these groups is Iluvatar (big i, little l,
uvatar, I don't know how to pronounce it). Very nice feel to the tune.
Laid back, but with feeling, which is great.
Another out-standing group is Castanarc. Very Yesish, Enchantish.
Still somewhat subdued, but honestly, would probably sound even more
impressive in an altered state (read: stoned). The second half of this
tune, Peyote, is very triumphant, worth checking out.

I just got a wad of DT stickers in the mail from fellow Jammer Todd S.
(mystery last-name). They are advertised on the http://www.dreamt.org page,
and the scan of the sticker (the new one) is exactly what it looks like
(except for maybe the size, depending on your screen's resolution). I don't
know a whole lot about sticker-quality and such, but this one certainly
seems to be built to last. I recommend that you all go to that page and
check them out, then pick up a bunch. I ordered 10, and if you're lucky like
me, maybe you too will get a little "bonus" from Todd ;-)

Arright, here's the bidding status thus far:

Tragedy/Comedy is currently going for $70.
Subconscious is, at the moment, $100.

No other offers for the Savatage vinyl, and none period for the Ryche
records... may have to post that over on Screaming In Digital.

I'm not sure when I'll make a decision... probably tomorrow or Friday,

Hey, where does Mike hang out these days? Did I miss something? It's been
over a year since I've been on the 'Jam, but back then he used to post his
shameless self-promotion :) EVERY day. Now that I've got some money
burning a hold in my pocket, he's nowhere to be found. What up with that?
