    Greetings, Ytsejammers (tm)...

    Mithrandir bid us goodbye with:

    >> Elen sila lumenn omentilmo, Mithrandir

    and Bafu wants to know:

    >Since this is probably the last time we're going to see this line (unless
    >someone puts it in their .sig), can someone PLEASE tell me what it means?
    >A direct translation is okay, but how is this phrase supposed to express
    >"farewell?"

"Elen sila lumenn omentilmo," a direct quote from Tolkien's _Lord of the
Rings_, is Elvish for "a star shines on the hour of our meeting."

Interestingly enough, it was usually used to greet someone when meeting them
for the first time, or when meeting an old and dear friend.

Why Mithrandir (a pale imitation of the REAL Mithrandir, AKA Gandalf the
Grey) chose to say goodbye with it, I cannot guess.

DT content: Can somebody who's seen the boyz in concert tell me what the
show's like? I haven't been lucky enough to catch 'em yet, though you can
bet I will this time around...

    Cheers,
    Phil

Sorry about YJ 1967, don't know what happened there. I'm considering
switching Inet providers. No, I did not do that on purpose, and Chris...it comes
    naturally.

Here's what I wanted to say:

You know it distorts your perception of reality. You made an example, but
I don't believe it came off the way you intended. Try reading the book "How to

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....

I know a lot of you's covered this already, but since I think I'm the one who
started this topic THIS time please indulge me.

One of my major attractions to DT is their almost natural ability to defy the norm
when composing their music. As a musician, (though a lowly drummer) I'm challenged by

their change-ups and admire their ability to multitask for lack of a better term, in
any given song/composition. A good example would be The Mirror. The transitions
in Mirror are seamless IMO. A drummer is always concerned with time keeping and
precision and those elements are a challenge when employing these time changes. To
me it's a big deal and it shows that MP has great mastery over joining two grooves
(sometimes opposing) together without a hitch. Learning to Live is a prime example
of how MP has got the math down in the rhythms he executes. Hear the drummer get
wicked...... Sorry, I could communicate this to you in concrete terms, I don't/can't
write what he does though I can copy it.

I only started listening to DT in Dec. 95(less than a year). I almost
always like DT's better when their played live. So I like the
"bootleg"-version better. But I like to listen to ACoS the CD for the song
and DT doing live covers of other songs. Funny thing is I've never seen DT
live and in person(besides JP), yet. Here I come Bitch Hell! :)

Okay Mojoman/Mithrandir farewell posts had nothing to do with DT, they were
talkiing to us and not DT. Mojoman suggested that we are just bunch of
    littlesexhungrycomputerlovingmanicfansthatDTisashamedtobeseenwith, or in
plain he was insulting us! Mithrandir didn't say so much be did insult the
    list(but the not the people).
Mindcrimer, is a touchy subject here. I don't know if you were on here when
we had dicussions on him but it gets ugly. We all make fun of him, and he
can't defend himself. If you want to really see what Mindcrimer has to say
go to the queensryche newsgroup and just read his posts that make fun of
Adam Cook, Pat Daugherty, or whoever saids something that Mindcrimer
    disagrees with.
And about the last sentence, that has been discussed on here before. I
remember most people said they liked DT for their music but they also liked
DT because so few people have heard of them, too. But they said that they
all liked DT mainly because of music. So, I don't think anyone here likes
DT because all of their friends are listening to them. You know I can't even
    see that happening.

DO talk to the person you're trading with beforehand, and find out what

DON'T assume that everyone wants the same things (J cards, cases, etc)

    >List"? Let the Jammers decide! Speak!

So far no one has emailed me directly about bad traders. I have written
down which traders are still "in the process of completing a trade." So far
I have Al Balkewicz(who says he is going to complete the trade after almost
2 years!), Jermey Haynes aka Sue Moscardini(is this person still on the
jam?), and how CD Cellar adversities about stuff they don't have in
stock(anyone have the email address for them?). If there are _any_ mistakes
about these people or if you disagree with what I have here PLEASE email
    ME(not the jam!).

I want to make this a kind of bad traders beware update. This could stop a
new trader from trading with a bad trader. Now I know I'm not the best
    trader...

Just a month ago I made my first trade with someone on this list. And I
didn't send the tapes I dubbed out until a little over month after I got
mine from him. But he was patient with me, and just asked, "hey where are
those tapes?" I replied with with a big post about how I forgot(which I
did) and how I would have them out that day. Well, I missed the post office
by a minute or two. I then couldn't mail them the next day because of some
car failure(stupid chevy!). So I mailed them on Friday. And he didn't get
the tapes until Monday(when he should have gotten it on Friday). Well, over
the weekend he must have thought to himself "that stupid kid, he didn't send
the tapes." He must have felt so angry to be tricked in such a cowardly way.
I know that last sentence sounds funny but its the only way I can express
the feelings people go thru when they have been tricked by someone that they
thought they could trust. Well I don't want that thought to happen again to
    anyone.

I know if are some circumstances were something comes up and you can't mail
out whatever it is you're trading but there is no excuse if you're just busy
for 3 months and with still the trade not being completed.

Also, what I'm trying to say here is if you've had troubles in the past but
the trade was completed, don't send it my way. This is because if the trade
was completed and that it was probabily that the person really couldn't mail
it. But I'm not going to make this list a list of names. Tell me what the
problem was. Because it might be that the person is sick or lost your real
address and email address. And I post about it every month or so with the
names of people and what they did. It will be a short sentence or two about
each person, just like the above was.

Also, I want both sides of the story send me the person's email address,
name, real address. And where did you meet this person(a.m.d-t, ystejam, etc.)

Oh yeah, almost forgot what this post was about JAMES ARIN. :) If you're
having trouble with him email me. Don't post it on the jam. I don't think
James even reads the jam. Also in the past talking about someone on the jam
gets weird. One person says they didn't get their stuff, and another person
will say wait. Neither person really knows what is happening. And the next
thing you know there's more people saying that they didn't get their stuff
and there's even more people saying wait. One side of the story *never*
gets told the "bad" trader's. This happened just a last week or so with
Marcel(the guy who is selling Capre Diem(sp?) and also with Tim Lodge(both
Tim and Marcel are sending out their CDs so just hold on to whose of you who
ordered from them) I will email these people on your behalf as a neutral
party and see whats going on. I'll post back a list of people if I get
anymore names besides the ones at the beginning of my post.

I almost fainted at the Birch Hill in December. Just too many damn people.
I think the capacity for the club is 8-900 and they let in about 1000-1200
people. Or something like that. I forget the exact numbers. But I'd go

with the material. Sure, there are one or two part that are better on
the old version, but as a whole, the new one leaves the old one in the
    dust.

You know, this is total bullsh*t. Businesses have to pay the credit
card company a _fee_ in order to take credit at their establishments.
This is why one used to see the credit vs. cash prices at gas stations.
One more way for a f*cking monopoly to have us bend over every time we
    patronize it.

    Hi,
sorry for the NDTC, but i thought that there would be people here who
    are interested in this...
there is a web page that plays progressive rock (and selected non-prog bands)
over the internet via RealAudio or iWave. I checked out their setlists
and they are very impressive! I wish i could install realaudio on these
    computers at school :)
    anyway the url is: http://www.iRock.Com/main.html

Bill Hicks was a comedian who died (I think) in 1992. The band has stated
in interviews that they share some of his views and were inspired by him.
They dedicated their previous album "undertow" to him. And there are many
audio snippets of him talking on the new album.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that Bill Hicks died of cancer.

Geez! I'm going to see Rush on the 6th (7th row, center, BTW), and will
probably not be allowed to go to to shows in a row, considering they're
both "school nights" (Wednesday and Thursday). Stupid parents... Dammo

Posts *don't* get any better than Ytse-whines, huh?

And I need a MIDI writer program... WAAAH!

Wait a second... <slaps forehead> Rush is November, DT is *December*...
Don't I feel dumb now? Rhetorical, but yes, I feel a plum idiot (I
don't think he appreciates it much either). Whew. In the clear, eh?

I still need a MIDI writer program, though. DOUBLE WAAAAAHH!
