I got the new Iced Earth CD "Dark Saga" as a present to myself.
So far, I've listened to it once through. Very much like "Burnt
Offerings", but with a little harder edge. Good stuff. If you
like Iced Earth, get it!
I also got "Steinway to Heaven". It sure is nice to hear a recording
of classical music that has some _punch_. Cool. I wish they'd included
the Allegretto (?) part of the "Moonlight" Sonata though. It's much
more inspiring, in my opinion. Also, the Appasionata (one of the most
kick-ass piano pieces ever written) would've been better than the
Pathetique, but it's still all good.
Then again, we know that this CD is just a money grab like the Working
Man tribute.
Rip rote:
>third- DT's No Sleep Since Brooklyn/Instrumental III. i dig this. even
tho chris's voice scared the shit out of my friend several times :) also,
who the hell is that screaming on "7 mini guitar pieces" ?! i also really
liked the charles manson picture on the actual cd, yeah that really fit well
:) and who drew the cover?
CM? I thought that was a picture of Mike Portnoy. I guess
I'll have to take a closer look.

Let's just say that for one...Neil's been doing it since Mike was
wearing diapers. I have to agree with you...I like Mike more, but I'm
still in absolute awe over Neil...me being a drummer and all. :)

Hey I'm sorry for this (please flame privately :)) but since you guys
are the ones who got me into Marillion and now Rush, I was wondering,
why did Fish leave Marillion in the first place? I know this must (it
is) be old, but I really want to know. Not that he's better than Steve,
just wondering. Just got Rush's Chronicles....man this guys rule. A lot
of their songs are from '74 and they rock! I had thought very highly of
WM, but now I have WM even higher. Very good work from the guys
tributing. But nothing like Rush themselves.
Next is Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes :)
DTC- Man do I hate all you smartasses who can(and will) go to DT's

speaking of tori, i just picked up a tori boot from the Little Earthquakes
tour, which i also happen to be listening to :) Very very cool to hear in
concert, just her and a piano and all that... simply amazing really. If you
like tori's studio stuff gotta pick up a boot or something along the way to
show her raw live ability.. or go see her live... if only she'd come to stl. :)

I usually just sit back and read all the info that flashes before my
eyes, but I just have to give thanks where it it due. When my girlfriend
subscribed to the online service we use, I thought, Nah, It's not worth it.
Boy was I wrong! There's so much info on here that I could never get
anywhere else! I'm really impressed! Because of you guys (and Gals) on the
jam, I get my much needed daily requirements of DT info and other related
stuff, i.e. rush, the magna carta stuff, Fates, ect.
I have loved prog rock for years, about 2/3rds of my life, about 20 yrs, and
I'm forever searching out new groups to listen to. Because of all of you, I
now have the entire Magna Carta Catalogue to date. And I now have in my
hands tickets To DT on the 6th of Dec. (Toads, New Haven) and Rush Nov 10th
(Hartford). Life is good. I've been a fan of DT since 1990 and they totally
blow me away! When I buy something by another group, I find myself comparing
how well they play against DT! Not to mention how much money I spent on
boots and the like, (17 cds in all!) I'm sorry to have rambled I just wanted
to express my thanks and see you at the shows!

Man you're absolutely right. I've seen her in eMpTyV and she is
wonderful.
Her voice and her piano alone, very impressive, that's why I got to get
ahold of LE!!!!! Oh she used some sort of organ in that presentation,
I'm
not sure about what it was (i saw it a while back) but it was cool.

Bah! What a heinous excuse to cover up your lame-ass stupidity.
Images & words was derived from those lyrics and persay QR flashed
forward in time to fetch those lyrics, they would not have existed.
Dream Theater as we know it would have been perplexed as to what to
call their next album and would not have the lyrics Queensryche
futuristically superceded from their unwritten album. All time would
have come to a complete and hideous stop and both bands would be
completely eradicated. Then this would be the Nirvana newsletter and
Kurt Cobain would be writing Metropolis Part III, The Suicide and the
Heroine SpeedBall chaser. :-P
Kurt would have lived forever, but now he's worm-food. Thanks to the
lack of time-travelling devices and well-written lyrics.

Yes. i noticed that to..especially during Another Day and Metropolis.. i
think it was maybe a late show in the tour..and the voice gets tired..also
the choice of set list might have to do with it ..like..they did AD,right
after The Mirror/Lie i think..and like after doing all those raging
screaming rough tones.. i think (im not a singer) that it would be
difficult to settle your voice down that fast..

About Doug Pinnick singing for Spyz, I think he was/is supposed to
sing a tune or two on eht upcoming (?) album or something like that.
I think I remember reading something along those lines on the KX list
a while back. Oh, and Rip (and any other interested St. Louis
jammers), just this past summer (maybe about a
month or so ago), Spyz played the Side Door dowtown (just a few
blocks from union Station). I saw Fleming & John there like a week
before they were supposed to play. They had fliers up for it and
stuff. I've never really evben heard their stuff all that much.
Oh, and about how some trades can get delayed for various reasons,
yeah, I totally agree with the post in a recent jam. My tapes for
the prog tape swap have been delayed due to one tape being eaten,
some changes that were made on another, and waiting for a better
source for a certain song. To everyone who i owe tapes too, hold on,
they're coming sometime soon. I do remember a trade I made over a
year ago with someone on the U2 list. he had taken a long time
getting them to me, and not only did I find the two tapes he owed me
(some OLD demo stuff and live/outtakes), but I also found two
complete tapes with the Achtung Baby outtakes on them. That made an
impression on me (my first trade). I also got some DT tapes in the
mail about a day or so after that, so I was set. I can only speak
for myself, I don't make promises I don't intend on keeping. Sorry
for the lack of DT content and the rambling, but it's been a LONG
day. Cheers.

Hello fellow jammers.. well, just a quick note.. Would
anyone be interested in possible trading straight up a copy of DT live
in Japan (the Japanese PPV one which if my understanding is correct.. is
basically the Mind Control boot on video) for a copy of RUSH live in Binghamton during the "Roll The Bones" tour.. Not a bad boot.. pretty decent
quality. Was shot from the middle of the floor and pretty descent
sound. Only two drawbacks though.. one, It was shot with a camcorder so
it wasn't "professionally" done, and two; During the song "Spirit Of
Radio" security came around and the person who filmed it had to put down
the recorder.. So during editing he put in a still shot of the guys..but
you still get to hear the song. So.. if anyone is interested drop me a
line.
