Hey everyone! I'm new to the list and this is my first time posting.
I was browsing the rsabbs.com DT page the other day and in the biography
section found out that John Petrucci's favorite book is entitled "The
Inner Game of Music." I would very much like to get a copy of this book
but have had no success in finding it. I have searched four local
college libraries with no luck. Could someone please tell me either the
author's name or where I might get a copy. Thanks.

    know where?

They played IF at the beginning of the AWAKE tour and also at the 1st New

Upon further thought about this one, I'd choose LSoaD and Scarred. Mmm,
    tasty.

I inherited a FAQ that said the only songs never performed live were "A Vision," "Too Far," "Scarred," and "Space-Dye Vest." I removed Scarred from the list, but I assume that sometime before Jason's Version 4.0, they played IF.

Now... who's got a boot of it? :)

Rick! I didn't know your wife was even hurt! I guess I don't hang with you on IRC enough. But I don't want you to disconnect because of cash. I would be happy to foot the bill for your ISP for a while. You can pay me back when I meet you at the NEXT Con. Please consider. I don't want to lose a frequent poster... even though it's not my list. I just don't like hearing about a jammer-tragedy, or a jammer in need. We could even get a fund together... Rick's ISP Jam fund... (okay, so I'm going overboard... still consider my offer)

Paco, Al and John are TOURING?!?!? Where can I find concert dates!?!? Whoever wrote that, if you're a guitarist into shred, go out and buy Live in San Fran. or Passion Grace and Fire (by the three) TRUST ME, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! If you know of some place I can get concert dates PLEASE let me know.

Chris. No Sig. Less Spam. Same great waste.

Why can't I drive? You really don't want to know that one. Someday, I will tell you all my driving experiences. I mean, you really don't want me on the road. Ask the state trooper that found me on the turnpike in a car with no gas. Believe me, he learned the hard way. someday, I will reveal all, and if you all care to know this story, I will post it, upon Skadz approval, of course.

Weird story coming from the blind guy's fingers:

I am a keys player as most of the ytse-vets know, but I was turned on to DT by a drum solo. Is this strange? I was with my friend, we were going to the Whiz for something, I forget what, and he was driving, of course. We turned on the college radio station, and I heard something that sounded like Neil Peart, and being a Rush fan, had to listen, but I soon discovered that it was not Neil Peart, but it sounded like him. Sure enough, the rest of ytsejam came on and I was totally hooked, from the drum solo, without ever hearing Kevin's keyboards once. Bought everything I could get my hands on. so, don't just assume you have to find songs for one's particular instrument, a keyboard player can get hooked on a bass thing or guitar thing or drum thing or singing thing, or whatever.

No, Geddy doesn't do that wowowowowowo thing on Natural Science. Devin decided to embellish. I hope he's not reading the list. I say we find this guy and rip out his vocal cords and parade his carcass through the streets in celebration of his untimely retirement from singing. :)(

to be exact newsteds only credited input on AJFA was on Blackened. also I read in an interview that after the recording of that album james and lars decided to mix all of the bass out of the final mix with out letting newsted know. This was a test to see if he would stay with the band. To me that is pretty childish on their part since the AJFA songs that they play live are driven very hard by the bass. But what do you expect as metallica was always the Hetfield/Ulrich experiance.

    cheers,

Well, in Rush, except for on tour when they have to use them for older songs, Geddy has all but thrown his keyboards away. You know, Geddy, if you aren't using those anymore, I'd be glad to take them from you, especially your Oberheim OB keyboards ...

Its interesting how you would play different dt songs depending on the instrument they play, but what if they don't play an instrument, or maybe just a kazoo....

I would definetly play CiaW to convert a kazoo player.

but what about those guys who already have a band they would die for, like the guy who would plunge a rusty nail through your skull the minute you said Rush wasn't the greatest band ever; or how about the jazz guys,or heaven forbid.... a metallica lover:)

About DT on PBS... how about during the telethon, convert all those John Tesh/Yanni fans and help out public television to boot.

Oh, come on!!!! People my age aren't THAT stupid. They don't like everything. I really do think that DT WOULDN'T become the next dumbass trend. I think that getting reasonable airplay would just let the people who would normally like DT discover them....meaning that if you don't read lots of musician magazines, or blind picking in the CD store it'd be pretty hard to discover DT. MTV airplay would just help bring the good fans in. Every single person I know that watches MTV doesn't like SOMEthing. Not all teenagers are lemmings. :) (as much as picturing that in my mind makes me giggle, they're not)

    >Besides, Operation:Revolution didn't work last year, and that was >fucking widespread, and aimed at an already "mainstream" band - Queensryche.

The unfortunate truth is that not many people like Dream Theater. What do we really have to complain about, though? Why do we need them to get played on the radio? We have the CD's and videos. And I really do think that even though they're not on TV every other minute that their fan base is quite a bit larger than we think. In conclusion, we don't really need airplay. I've played DT for "normal" MTV watching teenagers. They hated it. They don't have the time, and music isn't a high enough priority for them to even WANT to get into DT. It's not a crime.

Holy shit that was GREAT. You did send that to them, didn't you?

    >All right, I got your point. But MTV is corporate. They don't care what's >good, just what sells.

See? What sells is the same thing that the majority of people want. So, when they play what sells...people are happy. Also, if MTV only played stuff that we liked, they'd be kinda...out of business right now.
