That's a good question Damon. I know out here in San Francisco that the DJ's
sometimes play bootleg songs, I think it all depends on the program
director. If it were me I'd play it, but I don't know your boss. If you work
the overnight shift you'd have a better chance playing it.

I finally heard a song on T4E today. wasn't too impressed. I can't wait to
get back to work so I can hear the whole thing :)

bootlegs if they are sent the blanks and postage? I would really like to
get some DT boots or videos.

    >that wrote Queensryche's "Gonna Get Close to You" and sang "Start Today"
    >on the Victor album (Alex Lifeson's side project)?

Just to clear things up (along with a shameless plug for one of my
favourite artists), yes that is the same Dalbello - namely Lisa Dalbello a
Canadian artiste who's been around for some time now.

Her version of Gonna Get Close To You is on her whomanfoursays (geddit?)
album and is done with a much sparser arrangement than the Queensryche
effort. She's also had two of her songs covered by Heart - Wait For An
    Answer and Black On Black.

Her new album 'Whore' (nice title) has just been released in Europe (her
first for 9 years. And we've all been griping about the wait between DT
albums ;-), and is due out Stateside very soon. It's a much harder edged
release than her previous albums and I think it would appeal to a fair
amount of people on this list. Very intricate arrangements and _that_
voice. She seems to have got much more guitar orientated this time around
with some of the songs having a distinct 'Eastern' style to them, belly
dancing music as AirDance would put it - Revenge Of Sleeping Beauty has
    definite Kashmir overtones to it.

If you're interested in her work check out her Web Site at
    http://www.dalbello.com.

The other point I wanted to make is for UK jammers. If you want to get
hold of the Working Man CD without paying those HUGE import prices it's now
in stock at GFT records (mail order). Look in Q magazine or E-mail me if
    you want the address etc.

    Mark.

Someone's girlfriend sez she doesn't like the way JLB moves about on stage.

Me, I think of Robert Plant every time. "Beauty to my eyes" and that hand
thing. The one big gripe I have with DT is that it's funny to watch JLB.
Perhaps we should get him a Stage Presence for Christmas.

DONTFLAMEME! I'm smiling as I write this, DT is too cool, it's just a silly
little post, not meant to provoke any fights or flame wars or bad kharma.

Hmm. Three words: BRING IT ON!!!!!! :) Really, my postings have been
down quite a bit lately due to my SERIOUS lack of time (I spend all my
waking hours at work (yeah, I'm really sleeping right now)). However, I
will likely be putting my 2 weeks notice in on one of my jobs very soon,
so I may still be a force to be reckoned with. Man, I really need to
get some sleep. And I still have at least five jams to read (probably
more than that). I hate work. Really, I'm not lazy. If it was
something I enjoyed, then it wouldn't be work. MAn, I'm tired. Later
    all.
Ooh, almost forgot. In case anyone knows the places that will be
carrying tix for the Oct. 31 Rush show in St. Louis, please let me know,
as I plan on being there when they go on sale (the tickets, not Rush,
though if they are up for sale...)

About JLB's voice, I like it both live and in studio. However (yeah,
knew this was coming), he does seem to slur words or whatever at times
live, and that can be annoying (I hate how he says "go back to skweahh
wahn" in TTT live, though that is nitpicking a bit. I guess this comes
from my theatre classes where I had enunciation shoved down my throat).
As far as the album performances are concerned, I like how he sings on
both of them. I mean, the slightly more clean voice on I&W seems more
apropos for the cleaner sound of that album, whereas the technique he
uses on Awake seems a bit more appropriate for the slightly more
aggressive tunes (exception there - Silent Man is a good example of
clean singing). Of course, I'm not a singer, or an authority on
singing, so this is just an opinion of one tired soul.
Hmm, they're talking about the Tull/ELP show in St. Louis on TV right
now. My supervisor at one of my jobs just told me that he got free tix
    to it. Cheers.

            Hi all!

There's a new limited edition CD update being posted sometime
    tonight to the website at
            http://www.columbia.edu/~jc309/archives/ginfo/mikebahr.html

for those who have ordered Tori Amos: Inside The Storm and my
various Rush and Dream Theater CD creations.

TORI AMOS: INSIDE THE STORM IS NOW SOLD OUT.

It's bad news, I know. All current reservations will be honoured.
The update will explain the unhappy circumstances behind the necessity of
cutting the print run to 100 discs. Ironically, this will make it the
rarest Tori CD of all time, and exponentially more desirable than before,
right when supply is at its lowest.

Those of you with paid orders needn't fear: you're the lucky ones.
You WILL be getting your copies. Fairly soon now, actually.

Take care everyone, feel free to email me if you have questions or
    need help with anything.

    Hi,
I'm looking for somebody who would copy the video of the Pittsburgh show (10/29/94)
and send me, since Brandon can't make a copy until December. Of course, I would
pay for the trade, just write me how much you want. Also looking for other DT
    videos.
Another wish: is there anyone who can borrow John Huston's movie "The Dead",
and sample those words which are in "6:00" for me? I've already got the
movie "Dead Poet's Society" in English and did the sampling for ACOS but
our band now also wants to play "6:00". I would pay your work, too!
If you can't sample, please, also e-mail me, cuz I can't get this movie
here in English language, but if you send a copy of the film, that's ok.
    Thanx in advance,
    Peter

Nuno's solo album isn't coming out until Jan/Feb...they've also been

Right now I'm borderline on buying 1984, and perhaps some others, but
nothing can seem to get me to buy them...I'd buy it to hear Gary...

I would like to know how to get my hands on some superior music. So many
are ranting and raving, but I cannot find any of their music on ANY

Now wrt Rush: I think TFE is their best since Hold Your Fire. They have
an added intensity and grunginess, yet it's still clean and professional.
I still have to get used to the instrumental song - kinda disappointing
initially, but hopefully it'll grow on me.

OK, Rush-heads...... "Test For Echo * * * .5 Rus his one of those few veteran progressive bands that truly continues progressing, even after two decades of crafting some of rock's most adventurous epics. As they began demonstrating so well in the previous 'Counterparts' (1993), the premier power trio from Canada further strips its complex dynamic down to itsessence in this 16th studio effort. Not only have the keyboards been pacified to a textural trace, but Neil Peart has tempered his whirlwind drumming to a sparser, more charply aimed attack. It's unmistakably Rush in all its thoughtful glory. - Dean Golemis" Of course, another review gave Frente 3 stars. Oh, well. Steve

Yeah, that's one scary set of dudes. As a bassist, Victor Wooten obviously impresses the hell out of me, he's just phenomenal. But his brother is pretty damn scary himself, doing the WEIRD percussion thing. And Bela Fleck, of course, is the greatest jazz banjoist there ever was. "UFO Tofu" is a good one, too, incidentally. And they're busy right now opening for Hootie and the Blowfish -- now THAT'S an interesting combination. Something like when Golden Bough opened for Tempest, I'm told.

Hmmm....I've SEEN Lars play "Damage Inc." -- doesn't seem like he's had a lot of trouble with it. And for what it's worth, I think Lars can play a non-4/4 beat pretty well....but that isn't the sole definition of a quality drummer. I'm thinking about "For Whom The Bell Tolls" here -- that's a drum part with some thought in it, independent of the fact that I can play it and I'm a TERRIBLE drummer. It's just a perfect part, and isn't what any hack would do if they were involved in the putting together of that song. I think Ulrich is a hell of a drummer. Portnoy's pretty damn phenomenal, himself, though.

I'd actually suggest the new one ("Ear Candy") as a good place to go. Hardcode King's X fans would probably point you at the first record, though ("Out Of The Silent Planet")...and if you're a fan of "alternative" music (this list has a FEW of these people -- I'm not completely alone), you may wanna consider "Dogman."

Hmmm....that's interesting. I mean, that's the one thing on the record that I actually thought IMPROVED a Rush song (gasp!). I mean, I'm a MASSIVE Rush-head and I thought they were really cool. Everything else was mostly just "different" to me (which isn't necessarily bad), but those harmonies, I thought, were really cool.

At the early part of the baseball season I had a signature line that said something like Go Orioles-the team to beat in 96. I was then berated by Chicago White Sox, NY Yankee, and Texas Ranger fans. Wow, things have turned around greatly...
