Hi,
Sept. 29 Yngwie Malmsteen will be opening for W.A.S.P.! This is NOT a typo,
Yngwie IS the opener. It is at the Edge in Palo Alto. Tix are $10 adv. So
when you're at the King's X show tonight remember to bring some extra cash
to get your Yngwie ticket;)
although no one is probably interested in this one I thought I'd bring it
up. Lita Ford will also be at The Edge on Oct. 24. Les Claypool will be at
The Edge on Oct. 10. That's all from your Bay Area concert connection.

funny, whats dyers eve got to do with lars ulrich playing Damage Inc.
live. Last time I checked they were two seperate songs on two
seperate albums.

I had the pleasure of seeing queensryche on the promised land tour and
yes Geoff Tate was absolutly fabulous. He put on a stunning
performance. I also saw James with DT in December. I was impressed
quite a bit but not blown away by him as i was by Tate. However I
think that James is much better in a recording situation.

mike, just fyi...
cd bootlegging is not just a civil offense. there have been
(confirmed) reports on dat-heads of store owners being led off
in handcuffs and getting 2 years+ sentences for just
trafficking boot cds, not even manufacturing. the distributors
are getting busted bigtime in the east, i just want you to be
careful. i dont really think it is worth being indicted for
a felony offense to do the cd projects, that is the reason me
and mike burstin backed out in the beginning, but it is up to you.
personally i would fully understand if you decided to quit the
cd's, or limit them to dream theater only since they seem to be
low risk. but rush, tori, live, etc all are big name acts with
big time lawyers and mgmt with bigtime attitudes.

OK....i don't wanna go off on a rant (Thanks, Dennis Miller!), but
people who are getting bugned about claims that "you have nothing to
say" etc. are wasting their breath. If Jammers can't see there's a
poster "elite" here where some members can get away with things that
are flame bait to others, you truly are blind.
The Bens, the Bafus, the Bahrs (Damon, maybe you should get a name
that starts with "B") are given a lot more freedom to bring up and
continue stupid comments, threads, etc. Ot's just a clique thing.
Some get bothered by it, some ignore it (as I have until now).
Brian, reply and way you want...Damon say what you want to say. If
some jammers can't handle it.....screw 'em. They can turn their
computers off and do something much more meaningful than sit at the
machine.
Anyway........Mike Bahr: concerning covert actions on the CD projects.
Maybe that is a good idea. Don't be as open as you have been. The
bottome line is that it really is illegal and there are people willing
to put the kabosh (sp?) on it. I don't want that happening and
neither does the rest of the jam. Just be a bit more prudent. Just a
thought.

Well, this is my first post! I won't bore you with a story of how I got
into DT, but the short of it is I heard PMU and went and bought the next
day. Since then my life has completely changed! :)
Did anyone out there besides me not really like Awake when they first
heard it? (Please don't flame me for that!) I remember back a couple
of years ago when I got it and I didn't really care for it all that
much. But about six months ago, I pulled it out and threw on some
headphones (makes it easier to hear everything really well) and realized
how damn good it is. My first opinion of it was that it was too
'rough', but now I think the not so polished is what gives it its own
style. Any similar thoughts from anyone?
Another question: Does Space-Dye Vest sound better on a cold, gray day
or is it me? It just fits the mood so well.
Anyway, I finally stopped lurking and decided to post but need to get
back to work....

discussed previously and some of you would be sick to see them on the list
i would be very greatful if some one mails it directly to me. Did i make any
sense??? I don't know :)
any way...is it true that Eric Johnson, Satch, and Vai are going to tour
togather. does anybody know if they are coming to the Green bay area? if they
are ..when?
Does any body know when they are going to show the Satch thing on PBS?... I
heard it was supposed to be this winter?
is there any other cool DT cd's out after ACOC? I mean through Mike Bahr or
some body else.
finally, when's the new album due????
thanx in advance.

Man, this has been a good day. First, I got myself out of an unhealthy
relationship, and still managed to maintain a friendship with the most
insane Rush fan I know.
Then, I bought I Mother Earth's new one, "Scenery and Fish." Haven't
listened to it yet, but I'll give a review when I do. There's CD-Rom
info on it, too.
Then, walking out the first music store, I see a guy wearing an Awake
shirt! I happened to be wearing my Jason Giles t-shirt, and so it was an
instant conversation. Anyway, I geve him my e-address, and he's going to
be one of us soon! Hi, Noel, if you're already reading!
THEN, at music store #2, I picked up Lost in the Sky -with AMAZING
packaging (KevMo with a beard! :) and OUTSTANDING sound quality - AND I
also got an unopened Lie promo single!!!! And both for around $50! Now
I have to go back to that place and buy up the Rush boots (that the ex
didn't already grab) and the VH boots.
Oh, and while I'm here, can anyone tell me what label Lemur Voice and
Spock's Beard are on? Thanks.

Thank you very much. I feel the same. They say "oh, I got 10 jams in 24
hours, blah blah blah, DreamNDay (BTW, I have a name, and it isn't
DreamNDay), blah blah blah, Damon," But in case you haven't noticed, my posts
came in big packs, and then you wouldn't see any for a couple of jams. That's
because I only post twice a day (usually, don't jump at me if you find an

I read in the fan club magazine that the only songs never played live (other
thatn the new ones) were Dyer's Eve and Escape. So there you go.

Yeah right.
BTW, I am asking a question for someone else. I've noticed there are a lot of

I don't think you can generalize this. First of all, IMO, a lot of people
don't really care about music (not meant in a negative way however, it's the
same as me not caring about football). They have the radio playing while
working, playing cards, anything really... Or they go to parties, or are
exposed to music in the supermarket. Anyway, they are PASSIVELY exposed to
music. (I do know I've made some huge generalisations here, but it's just to
make my point clear) That kind of people is the audience that more
"commercial" music reaches (hate the word "commercial" though). These people
will say that they like what's on the radio, they know the tunes they hear
because they are played over and over again. They don't choose the music
they like, their music is chosen for them, just because they don't really
care. (generalizing again, sorry) .Now, in my opinion, if normal, mainstream
radiostations would start to concentrate on another style of music, say,
progressive metal for instance, it will soon be accepted by the masses. Of
course it would not influence people who care about music, listeners who are
ACTIVELY listening to music, searching for new interesting stuff, or perhaps
playing an instrument. Just compare it to what rock and roll went through in
the fifties. In the beginning, it was considered rebbelious, provocative and
sometimes even shocking by the masses. If it hadn't been accepted then ,
where would popular music be now ? To conclude I'd say that taste of music
can certainly be influenced. Music heard on mainstream radio-stations will
be the taste of music of a big part of the audience, and not vice-versa.
