    > off. I don't really care that there are delays, but what bothers me is
    > that no one really knows why.

We were under the impression that everyone knew why by now. Let
me state what we know, as we understand it from Mike Portnoy. The label
was being lazy about it, or at least, not giving them the go-ahead. DT
met with label. Label said "Hmm. Okay... we'll get you in the studio."
Petition meets label. DT and label meet again and are now slated to begin
recording in May once they return from the mini-tour in Europe. Official
updates will be delivered by Portnoy to the mighty Merlo, and we will be
certain to make this info VERY public.

    > and that good for nothing Red Sector A page is
    > doing nothing. They seem to be so fucking impressed with themselves that
    > they're the official DT page yet they're doing nothing for the fans really.

I don't know if that page is done for a profit. I hope it's not..
that is... I'm sure the fans could collaborate and create a page of equal
coolness. If the page is done as a freebie, then give the guys a break.
Updates on the page have come slowly, but they look damn good, and no
    pertinent information is missing.

The Edge (radio station) in Albany has announced the breakup of Soundgarden :(

Here is what MTV Online posted about the breakup:

    SOUNDGARDEN CALLS IT QUITS

Soundgarden's record label announced today that the group is breaking up to
    pursue "other interests."

A statement released Wednesday by A&M Records briefly summarizes the
situation, saying, "After twelve years, the members of Soundgarden have
amicably and mutually decided to disband to pursue other interests. There
is no word at this time on any of the member's future plans."

The news comes two months after the band's last U.S. tour wound up in
Hawaii amid rumors of in-fighting and ill-will.

Although I am not that big of a fan of thrash metal, went
and saw MACHINE HEAD last night. They really can kick some
ass! 'Davidian' is one heavy ass song! The set was about
an hour and fifteen minutes long. Since it was their first
time in Santa Barbara, they also covered South of Heaven by
SLAYER. Anyways it was a cool show.

Also, does anyone have info about the classical album
Petrucci was going to play on for Windham Hill? An older
fan club interview mentioned it. I guess Morse was producing.

i have ANGRA's 'Freedom Call' and ELDRITCH's 'Seeds of Rage'
coming in the mail. Can't wait. ELDRITCH was only $14!!!!

Anyone else heard that Soundgarden broke up? It just came across
WBCN about 5 minutes ago. (No crude BCN jokes please, I can't get WAAF (not
    much better) from school.)

Charged some boot^H^H^H^Hlimited edition discs from Kiss the
Stone. I'm lokoing forward to getting them soon. I got DT's Mind
Control, and QR's Saints and Sinners, and *gasp* PUSA for my little bro
who just isn't catching that prog bug. I'm trying though.

Ok, Digital Man, why don't you explain to me why exactly the new album
has been delayed for so long? I have friends here in philly who are on the
jam and they have no idea either. The only things I have seen on the jam
or that stupid red sector a page is that there are personnel changes at the
label that have been delaying it. That statement is very vague and I have
yet to see anything on the jam more specific.
And about Manson, I'm saying that I see them as a progressive metal band
because they are experimenting with different sounds and I think they are
unique and talented. My post had nothing to do with anger towards anyone
on the jam, I just didn't like the way jeremy had 'banned' discussing
manson. What I am angry about is that Jeff Chew's lifting shadows page was
great, and now that red sector a took it over and it became the official DT
page it's turned to shit.. trying to sell overpriced DT merchandise on the
page and when I read the update section it sounds so pompous and worthless.
for example, they referred to themselves as 'management' on the last
update they wrote about european tour merchandise. Who cares, I don't like
    the page anymore.
I read the jams when there is something that I find worthwhile to read
about, which recently has been very infrequently, but I understand that's
because DT is in a lull right now. I have no problem with that. But I do
not go around on the jams looking for someone to attack, I have posted very
infrequently, and when I do, it's because I have something to say. The
last one I wrote was in response to someone's question about 6:00 and
Joyce. So fuckhead, instead of looking through the jams posting
meaningless messages trying to be funny, why don't you post something
useful or shut the fuck up.

I think this is a great idea... but it's sort of already in
effect. The problem is that Skadz doesn't have time to read all of the
jams... and I personally would prefer not to annoy him with lots of
e-mails like "Look! Itchy should get a strike now, Right? Huh? Hmm?"
So I say we just correct each other.

How about it! I have a denim jacket that has over 20 autographs
(doubles from some of the guys in DT, since I saw em twice), and I sweated
through summer concerts with the damn thing on so I could have them all on
that jacket. I'm not knocking people who just want autographs... but it
doesn't carry the same sentimental value without the experience of getting
    it signed yourself!

I could do some probing of the annals (:P) of mighty out of print
albums for you, and just perhaps, purchase you a copy. The annals are
large and smelly, so if anyone else knows of an item sought by many, let
me know and I'll try to help out.

    Hello,
The subject refers to probably the single funniest digest of the
Ytsejam I have ever seen. First for this:

    > "Gather Hebrews while ye may..."

BWAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! I leave the guys name out because I can't imagine
his shame at the number of flames this will generate. I think I'll clean
my shorts... "I damn near soiled my armor!" The line is world renowned:
"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may..." To learn the rest, read the FAQ or
    finish high school.
And then this guy Christopher Bellardine. Man have you got
another thing coming. D-Man already bit on this one, but it was just the
single stupidest post I have ever seen! Well except some of mine of
course (that 12/24 time sig on DWD still gets to me!).

    > Could someone E-mail me and tell me exactly what progressive rock
    > means.

This says it all. The guy obviously has no clue what 80% of this list is
about if he has no personal concept of prog. And to bash QR in the manner
he did is Ytse-suicide. But I have the answer as to why this fella is so
    slow on the uptake:

    > <chris154@clam.rutgers.edu>

Note specifically that he is a Rutgers student. Every RU student is so
full of their own opinions that they don't know what to do with them, so
they dump them on people who could care less! How do I know this, you
ask? It's my alma mater... Chris, give me a call. I'm still in the area
and I'd be happy to tell you what prog is if I can stop laughing at you
long enough. And either go see The Empire Strikes Back or read Smeets's
sig: You must unlearn what you have learned...
DAMN NEWBIES!!!!! Read first, then think before you post. Then
    don't post.

    > Fuck these other bands that don't belong hear.

No, fuck you. You don't belong here.

technically, you could rule out or include about anything this way.. like
what does rush really have to do with dream theater then? ok, they play odd
time signatures, MP may sight them as an influence.. he also sights rap and
all other forms of music. you want DT related topics, i could probably
relate MM to DT in some way.

    Kevin played with DT
    Joey Vera played with kevin
Jeff Ament played with Joey Vera
Mike Inez played with jeff ament
    Ozzy played with mike inez

    Hi there.

T-Ride? Yeah they are cool. Trying to find it? Good luck! I tried long
and hard to find the CD (I have a copy of the tape) and have yet to
locate it. I have heard stories of it being in Bargain Bins for like $2
but have yet to find one for myself. If anyone does, let me know please.

Speaking of bargain bins and stuff, a strange turn of events has led me
back to the old days. The days of the Glam. Tomorrow at work for me and
some friends, GLAMFEST! That's right, all of your favorite glam bands
from Poison to Warrant, Stryper to Cinderella, will all be revisited.
This is NOT an insult to those of you who do listen to this stuff by the
way. I realize that a lot of it is quite good and the lyrics are dang
funny. But anyways, the point of this...

I was listening to my old tapes in preparation for GlamFest and I came
across one of my all-time most listened to tapes, Twisted Sister-Love is
for Suckers. Man, I used to jam to that one A LOT! So I stuck it in the
tape player and waited for "Wake up the Sleeping Giant," when to my
dismay - THE TAPE SNAPPED!!ALL THOSE MEMORIES! ALL THOSE YEARS OF GREAT
LISTENING! GONE! NOOOOOOOOO!!!! So if anyone knows where I can get a CD
of this Classic (to me, at least) for a cheap price, let me know!

On the other side of the spectrum, I was introduced to a cool Black
Metal band by the name of Cradle of Filth. Anyone got any info on these
guys they'd like to share? It was pretty dang rough and evil but I liked
    it.

    Sorry for this babblemarathon.

i'd have to disagree with this.....chiefly for the fact that i liked
metallica long before i even considered buying their albums.....this wasa
primarily because a radio station would play metallica (old met, new met,
all kinds of met) at random intervals, and kept my interest high enuff, so
a coupla years later, when i started buying albums and stuff, I still
    liked metallica.....

same goes for rush.....they've been my favorite band as long as i can
remember being interested in music in general....but, I don't believe I
owned any of their albums until the 90's.....

the weekly metallica content does have a purpose--keeping fans of load
interested enough so they may eventually check out older metallica, which
i think a majority of this list prefers......

Actually, Mark, I think Scott has flamed just about everyone else on this
list as well. So you're certainly in good company. When he first came
onto the list, I thought he seemed like a pretty good guy, and almost
traded boots with him. But then I guess after the intimidation factor wore
off, he just became a total jerk. I too have seen his drivel on these
lists for over a year now.

Personally, I think we should just ignore the moron and hopefully he'll go
away. People like him are just looking for attention. Ooops, I think I
just flamed him. Guess I'm a hypocrite. But at least I know how to pick
my spots (Scott only knows how to pick his nose).
