by Rob Stone and the younger boy (Wesley) was played by Brice
Beckham. The ages of teh characters were 16 & 8 respectively.

let me re-emphasize this... MM is *NOT* paul from the wonder years.
i actually know someone who went to the same high school as MM did,

i used to know his actual name, but i have since forgotten it.

sorry for the off-topic post, but come on, people... don't swallow

Ohhhhh, so it *must* be true. I saw this show once where fat guys in
spandex were rolling around in a boxing ring. At first I didn't believe
that they were really getting hurt, but since I saw it on tv, well...
OK, thanks for clearing that up. I have to go back to shaving Portnoy's

Last time I checked, hex means six.. and in 4/4 time, that would equal 24
notes, not 12.. just wanted to clear that up. : ) You make a good
arguement, and it makes sense to me, but the musical powers that be have
determined that (at least in typical, tradition music theory) hextuplets in
4/4 time are NOT 12th notes. This is ONLY true because half notes, whole
notes, quarter notes, and 16th notes have an assigned value, and are not
affected by meter, while "twelfth notes" do not have an assigned value, at
least according to your definition as "twelve notes in a measure" and
therefore would also be triplets if played in 3/4 time, 8th notes if
played in 12/8, etc etc etc.\
Mark Hatch-Miller
P.S. This is not a flame, and Im sorry for keeping this thread going for so
long because I know that noone really cares about 12th notes or 53rd notes
or whatever : )

I know the St. Louis JP and DS clinic has been beaten to death but I have a
few comments.
Of course the clinic was incredible. JP and DS seem like they are
genuinely nice people. If Derek seemed reluctant to sign autographs I am
sure it was because there was something with Kevin involved. I can't blame
him at all. Kevin was the original keyboard player and contributed a great
deal to the band but....he chose to leave. Derek is the keyboard player
now. I am thrilled to have a musician of his caliber in the band. The
most important thing is he wants to be in this band and it shows. On top
of the clown that asked about harmonizing bass lines on SDV some other
idiot asked him what Kevin was doing. Derek made the comment about Mike
saying he went to Costa Rica. The idiot had the nerve to pursue it further
and say "so he is not doing anything musical"? If I were Derek I would not
have given him the time of day.
There seems to be some confusion as to the songs JP played so here they are:
Purple Rain
Burning My Soul
Speak to Me
Lines in the Sand
Hollow Years
Sammy's Nap
2 Songs from the Sega game (these are on the Mesa Boogie web site)
The best thing about the clinic......I got my JPM100P2 signed by the man
himself.

Last I heard, Mike Portnoy had just bought a great amount of stock in
the "Hair Club for Men." and donated alot of money to the Research of
Zebras with Enlarged Uvulas Foundation.
I can't imagine why...

No Shit! Those picks kick ass. When I bought my RG570, I badgered
the guy into giving me a few free picks and I only grabbed one of
these things not knowing how splendid they are. it eventually was
gobbled up by that big cubical machine that has the spinning thing in
it that swishes your clothes around in soapy water. I've been damned
to never find another music store that sells em. I've been stuck
with plain ol' Big Stubbies ever since which are rather nice as well.

Ye olde Jammers-
The setlist for my radio show (cool name, eh?) last night is below. It was
a very strange experience to play metal in a semi-legit setting. I felt
like I was at KNAC (dead LA metal station).
Glenn
Broon's Trees Across Xanadu (a sequence from Exit...Stage Left)
Aces High
Speed King
Victim of Changes
Red
Through the Never
..And Justice For All
Blitzkrieg (I'm planning on doing a Metallica block each week. Hard to fit
DT into 15 minutes.)
Metropolis
Outside Looking In
Fallen Angel (gasp! Poison!)
Rainbow in the Dark
Wild Child (gasp! g.a.s.p.! W.A.S.P.!)
Mouth For War
Sickening (Meshuggah)
Seasons in the Abyss
King For A Day
Desperate People

Yep, that's me. The only mag I'm going to keep is Guitar Player, and
they're not even what they used to be, IMO. I liked it better when they
had actual columns that had been written (for the most part) especially
for the issue. Paul Gilbert, Nathan East, Frank Zappa, Mike Keneally,
and Buckethead all had columns that I liked. Oh well....

Sorry. I don't know about them.
>Elegy
Wow, they rules! They released 3 albums (with original vocalist) and 1
e.p. (with new vocalist) The best of them is their 3rd album titled "LOST".
Very melodic and technical music. Some kind of Yngwie cloan guitar player
and high-tone vocalist.
>Poverty's No Crime
Not good band. I think. B-class German metal band. Better save your money!
>D.I.M.
Scandinavian band. Not too good and not too bad. Just average band. I felt
nothing from them.
>Time Machine
Very prog-metal band. Their 2nd offering "Garilleo" (s.p?) is the best offer.
Thanks.

Hello,
On the subject of guitar mags which suck as a general concept
these days, I personally despise the fact that they continually reprint
the same transcriptions over and over. For instance: Runnin' with the
Devil, 3 times; I Don't Believe in Love, twice; Stairway to Heaven, lost
count. And of course, it's always the songs that I can figure out on my
own and not wast $5 on. But will they reprint the transcription of Hangar
18 or Get the Funk Out which I lost both of and could never figure out
the solos. Hell no!
Oh, and I guess when they were talking about the enormous guitar
playing talents on MTV that they ignored the 10 hours a day they spend on
The Real World, Singled Out, Idiot Savants and all the other gutter trash
TV. Not to mention 10 hours of video after video of Snoop, Tupac, and
Spice Girls. Not that I mind, it makes it easier to surf right past the
channel when I'm bored.
On this child star turned musician note: I also heard the lead
singer of Smashing Pumpkins was the kid Jamie on Small Wonder. Oh, wait!
That rumour's true!:)
As for this Jazzmin person:
>Don't EVEN THINK about starting a thread. I'm still recovering from the
>LAST flame war.
Dontcha just love when someone tells you not to do something, right after
doing it themselves. "I'm sick of all you hypocrites, holding me at
bay..." heheh...
And as for what Bafu said:
>And if you're going to go see "The Saint," for hell's sake cover your
>ears when the Russian Mob chases him down into the parking garage. The
>tire screeching is just excruciating...
And cover your eyes for the first 2hrs 10min. Oh wait, that's the whole
movie! IT SUCKED! Use your $8 to see Grosse Pointe Blank, much better
movie, and it doesn't have any dumb Russians. Just a dumb Bulgarian...
On the Ytse-A**hole of the month, couldn't we change the name to
something less vulgar. Itchy wants to make this a nicer place, so why
don't we just call it "The Jammer Least Likely To Contribute Something
Useful to the Jam or Society in General"? Or is that too wordy...:)

Hello!
My thanks in advance to the list moderators for allowing me to post this. This
contains no new information, it is just a repost of the original note that I sent. I am
reposting in the interests of those who may have deleted digests either accidentally, or
due to unwarranted content. Any of the initial respondents need not respond again.
As there is not one currently in existence, and the fan base is fairly small (to
my knowledge), are there any folks interested in helping me create or simply joining a
SAIGON KICK MAILING LIST. I would only maintain it for the transmission of any important
info from management and the band, much like the Dream Theater Voices list is
(supposedly) run.
If you are interested mail me at: andrew.t.forcier@prudential.com. Just put a
subject of "SK" and a message saying your level of interest, i.e. help to create, just
joining, etc. and your full name.
Keep in mind the purpose would be information distribution, not free-writing for
the musically omniscient. Also, if you know of others that would be interested, feel
free to forward this note to them or other band mailing lists (remember not to forward
the whole digest). Please let me know if you do so what lists you've sent it to. Please
do not place this on any government or business related distribution lists. The project
may have to be cancelled if this is done.
When I get enough names, I will contact the band's management to demonstrate
that there is some interest, no matter how insignificant. I say this to reinforce the
idea that this has, right now, only a possibility of coming to fruition. As the number
of names grows, maybe we'll get something more formal with the band and expand the
list's parameters.
Thank you again to the list moderators for letting me post this.
