Hello, a friend of mine just lent me promised land, the first cd from QR
that ive ever heard on its entirety, the other being Empire, but i dont
remember any of it, and ive heard bits of O:MC, (anarchyx/revolution
calling, which BTW didnt grab me at all IMO)but i dont know why people
have been refering ,at least in the NG's to promised land as
alternative,or just as big as a "sellout" as hitnf,i dont know but from
what i listen to PL,if theres any alternative band that sounds like
that, please point me to it..there are some songs in there that are very
    very good....

I need some new music from DT and I need it NOW. So far '97 have given us little to be pleased by. I personaly was even disapointed by QR's new CD. Would it help if the jammers started mailing the record company and put some pressure on them? Anybody know if "Live Forever" is released anywhere else than on the Japan video?

Later, take care all of u

Got my CD Connection order the other day...

    Altura:

Um, hello? I can't believe I've read Altura bashing here before. Yes, at times they sound like DT, and, yes, sometimes their transitions are abrupt and a little 'out there', but there is a LOT of depth to this album. Some people have dissed their drummer for being a Mike Portnoy wannabe, but this guy can PLAY. And if DT ever loses James, I know who their next singer is going to be. Rain Irving is great. This is one band where the whole time I was listening, I was thinking, "this is really good, but I can't wait to hear their next one." Thumbs up.

    Ozrics:

I got Strangeitude and Arborescence, and all I can say is, where has this band been all my life? Why aren't these guys much better known than they are? Kind of a trippy, groove-oriented Rush/Pink Floyd/whoever else minus vocals. Great background music. This is like elevator music for prog lovers. STRONGLY recommended.

I think a few older jams got sent to me..........I'm seeing the bootlegging arguement again.....Damn computers. Get it straight Skadz... :>) Shall we rehash this again??? Anyone have any new thoughts??? Anyone NOT say their peace???? Take it private PLEASE!!!!!!!

On a lighter note, I ordered LATM a few weeks ago and got it within 2 days......I paid $22 for it. Is this the going price or should I venture to a big city to get these things???

Also, Sebastian is a very good singer (IMO). I loved the Slave to the Grind stuff. Haven't heard anything from him in a while though.

First, if anyone knows how to get a CD from a performer named Rob Lamothe (of Riverdogs ??) from a label called Dream Circle records, please let me know !!

More importantly, in "recalling" the Fix shows recently (ahem:), I have to say the following. Flame me for what I say but praise me for DTC !! And be careful what you say, I just got me a music degree !!

    1) Two songs stand out big time for me: Lines in the Sand and Burning My Soul. Dont let any producer water these down !!

    2) In Burning My Soul, they really need to scrap the line "I say its green and you say its red". Ugh. And, will they retain the profanity ?? To me, if they were going to "break the barrier", they should have kept mercy fuck.

    3) Just let me breathe sounds like a forced song in the style of CIAW. Like they were put into a studio and told to write a song in one hour. It doesn't grow on me at all no matter how many times I "recall" the fix shows.

    4) I really like the jazzy groove feel and unctuous (hehehe, look it up) sound that DS lends to passages like the beginning of Peruvian Skies.

    5) Take Away My Pain. Tough for me. All of the intensity is in the lyrics, not the music. I know that this is a very personal and important song for JP, but when you dont get much new material too often I would rather get Metropolis II than songs like this.

    6) Who sings those dreadful backup lyrics on Burning My Soul ?? (just kidding Mike, you sound beeeautiful, signed Pinocchio).

    7) Should they add the "DoE ending" of LtL to the end of Lines in the sand ?? Say "yes Mark".

Oh man oh man oh man, what can I say. The JP/DS clinic last night totally rocked anything I have ever had rocked before, and then some. And yes, DS did his clinic before JP, so I got to see both, but they also jammed some together, AND it lasted a total of nearly three hours. It was the first exposure I have had to the new material, and I must say that it is gonna be a GOOD album. Oh, and DS did mention the petition (thanking everyone :), and said the new album will probably be out sooner than we expect :). WOO HOO!!!!!

for you LA Rush fans (if you don't already know), tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 for the May 10th show at the Blockbuster Pavilion. I don't know how much reserved seats are, but if you ask for the KLOS seats, you can get general admission "lawn" seats for $9.55. That's not a misprint--$9.55 for general admission! Also, the radio promo said that they are actually going to play all of 2112! I'd pay nine bucks just to here that.

bas is one of my all time favorite vocalists. and he's about ten times better now than he was on slave to the grind, adding more balls to his singing and belting things out with a great deal of power. you can check out his singing on the rush tribute, and if you like that, pick up Subhuman Race, which is like a total bash fest, they dont let up once on that whole album, it completely shreds, they're becoming heavier and heavier with each release. Even if you detest to the older skid row you still may find a great CD in their latest release. not to mention bach hangs with DT sometimes :) ~Rip

Is anyone else getting the impression that the album's done already, and we're having our chains yanked? There have been several reports of DT members saying "the album will probably be out sooner than we expect." Also, with all of that secret snooping around Mike Bahr has been doing, I think he knows something we don't. I get the feeling that Mike P just wanted to see if we were really capable of causing such a stir (like we did with the petition). Just as we are responsible for ACOS being released, I have a feeling the record company is starting to dig our existence and dedication/obsession to this band. Just my thoughts, but I think the album is done, and Elektra/DT (Mike P in particular) have snookered us. If you know for fact that this is not true, please disprove me.

another highlight: <JP plays insane little jazz progression> jokinly snobbish: "i went to berklee"

but the best highlight of the night was that guy over in the left side of the stage who.. man.. he had like an accent, i guess it may have been asian, i couldnt see him.. but this guy was a riot! a total spooge! he asked Derek about if he ever played in harmonic 4ths (i think thats what he asked, it was weird regardless) with John Myung on Space dye vest! derek kind of tried to shake it off, but his real highlight later in the evening (obviously the only guy in the band he really knew of was myung) he asked petrucci how the Ytse Jam came about, JP replied that it basically came of off john myung.. the guy belts out "OH MY GOSH!!!
