    Hey,
After many *long* months of waiting, Precious Things finally arrived
this weekend. Woo hoo! Another triumph for Senor Bahr! Seriously,
y'all, if it's not sold out yet, get your copy while you can. If it is
sold out, well, go try to buy someone else's copy of it. Yeah, right.

    Hey Hi,

Just came back from the Munich show... it was great but I was a little bit
disappointed that they played the same setlist as in the States. They
should've played more new songs IMHO.
It was a f***ing nightmare to smuggling in the video and tape recorders
because of the guards, but finally we did it! However I was not so brave
to use the camcorder too much, there was a lot of sec. guy watching... my
friend has seen a bootlegging guy nabbed by the security guards.
Anyway I can make tapes for the sound... and maybe I'll make AVI or something
like that from that few minutes of video. And we also did some pictures that
I will scan and put up somewhere. :)
I would like to trade earlier stuff, especially videos (from Awake tour,
I&W tour, clinic stuff and Myung, Portnoy instr. videos). And I'm looking
for Ryan Webb (I lost your e-mail but sent the money for Portnoy clinic
    video about a month ago).

    Cheers,
    Peter

Ps.: was that green Adidas shirt on Petrucci a joke?? ;)

         No Doubt....

I've heard the disc....I've seen the videos....I hate this band.

Why? First of all I truly enjoy talent (that's why I listen to bands
like DT, Badlands, Toad the Wet Sprocket, etc.) I don't see a whole
lot in this band musically, and any they do have is wasted on
songs/chord progressions/solos that can be done in one's sleep. I
don't find the classical guitar solo in "Don't Speak" all that
interesting. Kinda Madonna-esque-"La Isla Bonita" cliche.

As much as whatsername professes that her songs are about her life, I
hear very little real emotion.......also....SHE CAN'T SING FOR SHIT!
"Don't Speak" has to have some of the ost off-pitch singing on radio
today. I hear that song endlessly at my gym re:house stereo...I
constantly cringe and think "you're flat! you're flat!"

         No Doubt? No thanks!

On prog rock note: I love Ray alder's singing. Do I think he noodles
sometimes? Yes, but he's clear, powerful, emotive and can hold a
note. Discs I own are Parallels, IO, Perf. Sym...I like 'em all.
         Should I get No Exit?

         Steve

However we got on this topic:

I really like No Doubt. (Of course, I'll be snooty and tell you I was into
    them before they got big)
She does sing a little flat, but that's all part of her unique "love it or
    hate it" voice.
She's also a very nice person. Or she was when I met her, fame can change
    people, ya know
They put on a great, high energy show, and the only thing that sucks is that
    you can't see em
in a small club now like I used to.

    New DT please.

    Jammers-

I recently bought The Warning and, after listening to it and much 70s
Judas Priest, I've come to the conclusion that Geoff Tate and Rob
Halford are actually the same person, that the folks who wrote the
"Queensryche" album from 1984 are really some guys from Britain, and
that I like "both" of their work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think LaBrie is the big Napalm Death
fan everyone thinks he is. He clearly stated that he was given the shirt,
and when they were told that they were being filmed for the Pull Me Under
video, it was the only clean shirt he had. I also think Barney was invited
to the Ronnie Scotts show because of this DT/ND nostalgia. Yes, there is
an interesting link between LaBrie and Napalm Death, due to that whole
shirt thing, but I think it all happened by accident, and the press and the
fans blew it up into a big thing. I really don't think he is much of a
fan. If anyone is a Napalm Death fan, I think its MikeP.

I think some of the older jammers might remember this thread coming up a
long time ago. Let me know if my info is correct, or all fucked up.

I find it interesting that someone says No Doubt sucks and
then uses Toad The Wet sprocket as an example of a good band.
Every band has a right to exist and if someone doesn't like them
I can live with that; but *Toad* ? Sheesh!

You know the deal: Still no Rush or DT in Switzerland. No complaining this

At least some other good musicians seem to find their way to Zurich:

Yes, it's G3 with Satriani, Vai and ... without Eric Johnson :-( but with
Adrian Legg as Special Guest! Only ... who's that? Anyone knows?
And anyone else out there going to the show on Mai 28th in Zurich?

Thanks for reading (and hopefully answering)!

Something like that. You see, the Damned Jets moved from Flushing, NY to
Fucking, NJ. (Of course, the Fucking Mets still play in Flushing.)

this is the story i've heard as well, though i'm not entirely sure that its
true. i also have an old concert video from 92 in which james is wearing
the same shirt. kinda odd he has nothing to wear so often, isnt it? :)
either way could be true i'm sure, though i'm slightly led to believe he's a
    fan.
