Question for Al:

I was just wondering something: If you can't dub the tapes for Pat, why
don't you just send him cash or a check for the equivalent of the tapes?
That doesn't seem so bad now does it?

I finally got my copy of "Scenes" in today. I can't belive the demo
version of Pull Me Under. It contains a big chunk of "Erotomania" in
there! It's a good thing they didn't choose Cintron over KJ, because
his singing on ACOS was really lackluster.

Some minor DTC: I went to a guitar shop the other day (Motor City Guitar,
in Waterford near Detroit, great store), and they were playing Antiquities!
Everytime I go in there, they are always listening to either DT or Fates,
but I was shocked to hear some of the vocalist audition tapes when I went
in there. Think I'm going to buy a bass cab from them, just cuz they are
so cool.

I just got a chance to read all my backlogged digests and read the post about
the HitNF tour, but I was just wondering about the PL tour, since I didn't get a
chance to go, :-( Since they did play all of PL, how much of the older stuff did
they play? Would I get to hear tracks such as "Walk In the Shadows," "Road to
Madness," "Take Hold," "Eyes of a Stranger," and "Silent Lucidity?" I'd go to
see those live, and perhaps maybe "spOOL," but if it's just going to be a live
rehash of HitNF, I wouldn't want to.

Hey there -

Well, it seems that a lot of people are getting feisty regarding the Fix For
'96/'97 set lists. To aid in the never-ending pursuit of total peace and
harmony on our beloved Jam, here is the set list for anyone who does not
already know:

The Crimson Sunrise (ACOS)
Innocence (ACOS)
The Mirror
Lie
Burning My Soul
Another Hand/The Killing Hand
Just Let Me Breathe
Caught In Alice's 9-Inch Tool Garden (New Version of CIAW)
Peruvian Skies
Pull Me Under
Lines In the Sand
Take Away My Pain
The Darkest Of Winters (ACOS)
Ytse Jam
Learning To Live
The Inevitable Summer (ACOS)
Crimson Sunset (ACOS)
Encore: Metropolis Part I

There y'all go. An amazing fookin' set list, if ya asked me. IMHO, hands
down, their best set list ever. :-)

Bye... Matt T.

Also, other than Ozzy and Black Sabbath does anyone know who is
playing in the ozz-fest? Will Zack Wylde make a triumphant return?

Just to reiterate on the Local H stuff, Local H's album is not self titled
but it is their only release ever. I have prelistened to it in the record
store and it is really good. It's not really all that alternative. It's
more back to basics hard rock. You'll like it if you like the song "Bound
for the floor" They have been opening for STP for the last couple of
months. later, ;) J

I've been away for awhile, so I don't know if this has been
mentioned.

A Winter Rose Studio album has been re-issued and is available now
as an import. Winter Rose, for those who don't know, was the band James
Labrie was in before Dream Theater.

This item is availble from an importer here in Michigan and he can

SENSES - FIELDS UNSOWN (B+) CD demo, 1996

Contact info: senses@garden.net

There seems to be something of a Prog mini-revolution going on, in an underground sort of way. Not a week goes by where I don't get one or two CD's from this genre. And, there is no genre where quality can vary from being so very very bad to so very very good. Senses, while not anywhere near that bad side of the road are not too far off from that good side. Musically, there's a lot happening here and some of it is very exciting. Opener "Under The Weight Of The Rain" has some excellent = instrumentation, as do the other songs on offer, and showcases what this band is capable of when everything clicks. The title track also grabs my ear as = something of a U2-like stomp surrounded by a lush wall of sound. The lengthy "In The Light Of The Moon/Reflection/High Tide" reminded me of Dream Theater meets Elton John, where the keyboards are huge and upfront, and was the song that finally convinced me that this band could be onto something special. This took a few spins for me to get a hold of it, and my = opinion of it got better with each successive listen (my first draft was none = too favorable). Prog fans (and even AOR fans) should find a lot to like = here. ___________________

Not a week goes by where I don't get one or = two
CD's from this genre. And, there is no genre where quality can vary = from
being so very very bad to so very very good. Senses, while not = anywhere
near that bad side of the road are not too far off from that good = side.
Musically, there's a lot happening here and some of it is very = exciting.
Opener "Under The Weight Of The Rain" has some excellent=20 instrumentation,
as do the other songs on offer, and showcases what this band is = capable
of when everything clicks. The title track also grabs my ear as = something
of a U2-like stomp surrounded by a lush wall of sound. The lengthy = "In
The Light Of The Moon/Reflection/High Tide" reminded me of Dream=20 Theater
meets Elton John, where the keyboards are huge and upfront, and was = the
song that finally convinced me that this band could be onto = something
special. This took a few spins for me to get a hold of it, and my = opinion
of it got better with each successive listen (my first draft was none = too
favorable). Prog fans (and even AOR fans) should find a lot to like = here.
