Well maybe we need to petition again to get the new DT CD filled to
    the brim :).

I fucking hope that the crappy music stores in S. Calif. here will
be selling the new Fates CD!!! If not I'm going to have to hit someone up
    for it .....

P.S. I'm jealous of all you assholes who saw DT in Europe!! I've NEVER
    seen them live! :P

Rick/fellow Y'Jammers. I actually neglected to look at the packing slip
closely enough. Yes it was only $20.99 + $3.00 shipping (I just looked to
see if they'd RAISED the price, & didn't think twice about a LOWER price.)
The $30.99 price is for the Japanese import.

The following note was at the very bottom of the picking slip: "Please note
that we shipped you the German version of Symphony X instead of the Jap
(sic.) Version. The album is EXACTLY the same only it originates from
Germany and is $10 cheaper. Thus, your total cost is $23.99 vs $33.99. We
hope this is satisfactory to you."

Most excellent on $$ as far as I'm concerned. Maybe this is the time for
many of you to think about getting Symphony X's DWT, while they have the
German version in stock at Knights of the Round.

Now after a few listens, I must say that DWT is most excellent from start
to finish. Michael Romeo's guitar work smokes throughout. The vocalist
reminds me a lot of Dio at times (range & timbre). Some of the guitar licks
are very reminiscent of a more metal Brian May, as some of the vocal
harmonies are also Queen-like. (Not that the album is Dio-like or
Queen-like in toto.) Some of the riffs are also quite DT-, Superior- or
    Angra-like.

And now on the use of the Gustav Holst Mars riff at the beginning of DWT
(the epic piece on the CD). Yes I still think it's there; It's quite
distinct. And the 'tage song that uses the same riff is 'Prelude to
    Madness' on HMK.

    Hi Randall,

I caught this post or yours today. I ordered DWT from KotR about two weeks
ago and it was priced at $30.99. I haven't gotten it yet because they were
quick to inform me that they just sold the last copy they had and are
expecting more soon. But I'm puzzled about the price you paid. Are you
    SURE
the disc itself was only $19? (they charge $5 postage on all orders).
Because if you did, that's quite a bargain on that disc.

"Take Away My Pain" is bar none the best of the new stuff I heard at the Fix shows, IHMO. I can't wait to hear the studio version. This one is going to rank right up there w/ LSOAD and Surrrounded for me, which is very high praise indeed. The one song that didn't blow me away is "Peruvian Skies." Not that it's bad, and yes it's cool to see MP and JP singing harmonies, but I didn't think it was as amazing as the other stuff. I know a lot of people on the list like it, so I don't mean to piss a lot of people off, but that's just my opinion.

Hey, everyone! Just home from dr. Petrucci's guitar clinic in Gothenburg (April 21st). It was great, of course. And if anyone wanted to go but didn't have a ticket, well you should have gone anyway, because you didn't need a ticket. All you had to do was pay 25 SEK (about $ 3,5) at the entrance and they let you in. It lasted about two hours and he played some new songs (Burning my soul, Lines in the sand, Hollow years, the two SEGA-songs and Purple Rain (Prince) among others), and showed us some cool tricks (none of which I could ever learn). He also said that there will NOT be a double album, but that the songs that wouldn't make it on the album would be used for some other...erm...stuff. The album will be about 60 minutes long and is due out in September. Oh, and he managed to fry one of the stage-speakers. Way to go! After the clinic he made his way to the bar where he signed stuff (I got my ACOS-cover signed). Unfortunately, I got sort of tounge-tied when I approached so all I could muster was "could you sign this" and then "thanks". Silly me! Or as Jesper Binzer of D.A.D. so eloquently put it: "I'm too old to be shy, but i wonder what to say, after I said hi." Had my thoughts been with me, I would have liked to mention that I was on the Ytsejam (he was wearing an ytsejam t-shirt) and that I was at the show in Tilburg on the 15th. Not that would have made any real difference. But it would have felt good to let him know that there are some real devoted fans who are willing to travel and whatnot to see them. Today I didn't have to though, coz I live 5 minutes away (by bike).

Try it -- it's good for you: new music you can't live without:

MOIST - "Silver" & "Creature" Freak Kitchen - "Appetizer" & "Spanking hour"

oOo If a man could pass through Paradise in a dream, and have a flower presented to him as a pledge that his soul had really been there, and if he found that flower in his hand when he awoke - Aye, and what then? oOo Niklas

Now who in the hell is going to any of these shows? I want to fly to Germany or Italy or the Netherlands or wherever! I mailed a few of you with no reply. Anyone in California want to confirm the May 31st show? That would be the easiest to make.

    GO WINGS!

    To all NY/NJ Jammers;

    The Steve Morse band (John Petruccis' main guitar influence)is going to be playing 3 dates in the NY/NJ area this weekend. They are;

April 24th Tramps NYC April 25th Club Bene- Sayerville NJ April 26th IMAC Theater- Huntington Long Island N.Y.

Opening for them will be - The Rudess/Morgenstein Project. Keep in mind that Jordan Rudess was the individual that originally replaced Kevin Moore, and played with Dream Theater at the Forums Foundation Gig. Unfortunately, he had been offered the Dixie Dregs Keys position and accepted it. And Rod Morgenstein is an excellent drummer! Anyway, if you have not heard Rudess/Morgenstein yet (they opened for DT on a couple of shows), go see them.

I may be makeing the trip from Hartford, CT to go see one of these shows. If you go, wear your YTSEJAM shirt!!! I'll be wearing mine.

    Regards,

    Michael Pomerleau

I just had a mildly disturbing thought. DT is finally going to be in the studio recording their new album, but isn't it going to take a while. I mean, their music , as we all know, is very complex and even though they are very talented musicians I would think that it would take a little bit longer for them to record than say someone like Bush (AAAHHHH! SATAN! SATAN!). I believe MP was predicting the album being done this fall sometime, but I have this nasty nagging little feeling that we're going to be waiting a bit longer than that. I don't know, I was just curious whether or not anyone else agrees that they might take longer to record than most bands. Just a thought - Jason

NEW FATES WARNING TOMORROW!!!!!!! I CAN PUT OFF KILLING MYSELF FOR ANOTHER WEEK!!!!!
