I'm not sure if this one's been done 'cuz I've been skipping randomly
    through jams recently but...
This chicken had been a little different from all the other chickens
crossing the road in the same way. It got a kick out of putting special
ornaments on one of its wings which made the wing flap very strangely, but
somehow, the strange winng helped it cross the road in ways that the other
chickens never conceived of. One day, however, the wing stopped working
right and just sat there, quivering. The chicken, knowing that it is
better to enter the kingdom of heaven wingless than to allow one wing to
draw it into sin, cut off its wing and left it in a special coop to flop
mindlessly on its own. Fortunately, the chicken got a wing transplant and
made the largest progress crossing the road with that wing. After walking
for some time, it's other wing decided that it wanted to walk with other
chickens and lead them across the road in the same way as the first
chicken was doing. When it took off, the transplant to replace it was
smaller and not quite as efficient. The chicken puttered on, however,
still impressing everyone with it's original way of crossing roads.
Long, huh? Go for it. Be well. Nice to write to all you crazy
    mother-fuckers again.

I'll try to slide this one in between all the Fates traffic (still can't do
    them...)

One band that never gets mentioned here (which I can't believe) is Stabbing
Westward, which is a little suprising given that some
techno/industrial/rock bands like NIN and such are. I'm a huge fan of
Whither, Blister, Peel, and Burn. I just got their first, Ungod,
yesterday, and I have to say that it DID NOT let me down. A LITTLE less
processed than WBPB, but still walks that techno-crunch fine line, and some
of the songs are 7+ minutes, so they feel a little more developed.

That's it. My hope is that at least one person found the above useful.
And if it made no sense, you need to go out and spend some money.

    Hey Matt,

My guess is Van Halen. And, not to be anal or anything, but it's "energon", not "enerjon". I've still got all of my Transformers comic books and cartoons on tape, and it's just as sacred as Star Wars, MST3K, and music to me :)

Since there have been a couple of requests concerning Kevin's "Music Meant To Be Heard Etc." Demos, I wanted to tell you that I ordered that tape directly from Kevin a long time ago. If anyone of you is interested in a copy, I can dub it for you. Just send a mail to LoneWolf@dreamt.org , but keep in mind that I am living in Europe, so it wouldn't be cheap for you US guys. $4 for a blank tape + packaging , plus $6 for shipping makes a total of 10 US dollars.

At least 2 of the songs from that tape will be on the new cd, "Sun Orange, Small" and "Even The Waves". Maybe I should mention that the sound quality of the original demos is fairly poor, so please think it over before you mail me.

Hello there... I've got a lot to go through here, after reading a weekend's worth of jams. First off: since I know you're going to post them anyway, can you all clearly mark your new Fates Warning reviews. I really don't want to plow through them. Separating them from your regular posts might help too. Thanks in advance, no offense intended. Next: Anyone else pissed about the whole OZZFEST debacle? If Manson and Pantera don't play, I don't think I'm going. For once I actually agree with the damn liberals in the ACLU... Hey, Al: Just another reason for me to hate NJ! Speaking of NJ, anyone up for an NJ Ytselunch, or Ytsebrunch? I'll coordinate, send me your email and locations, and we'll try to centralize. For the guy who got screwed on line (4th in line, 34th row). I know exactly what you mean, General admission tickets are the best way to go. I always wondered why they didn't make all tix GA, and let people sleep out for the seats themselves. Sure security would be a bitch, but it would solve the scalping problems.... On tribute bands: Rush tours every three years, VH tours every three years, Metallica every three years. With that much space, there's room for a tribute. Alanis JUST stopped touring on her FIRST album, there is no need for a tribute. By the way, someone mentioned the Metallica tribute Battery. Do they still play as Disaster Area too? I saw them a while back and they were damn good. Still taking names on the Our Gang tribute... YJLHB: Not fair. I can't grow my hair long. It just gets big. It's not curly or anything, just straight and BIG! I've tried growing it multiple times, but it just won't work... Can I be an honorary member? I'm gonna have to get TDoW for CiA9ITG alone. That was far superior to CiaW. Just wish there were an instrumental cover medley on there too. I have heard (Lars interview) that when making Load, Metallica had a lot of material, so they separated the thrash from the speed metal. The thrash makes load, the speed makes the new album. This was an interview with Lars and is complete hearsay on my part as I can't remember the source. And then again, Load ain't exactly thrash... Concert t-shirts: to the guys who have complained about shrinkage, three tricks to making your shirt last. 1) Buy one size larger than you need. 2) Wash the shirt inside out every time. This prevents the decal from cracking too early with some screened shirts. 3) The first five washes: HANG IT DRY! Do not use the dryer, or its all over already.

I have over thirty shirts, the first ten of which are now unwearable (my DT I&W shirt for one), but any quality shirt I have bought in the last three years is still in great shape from this treatment. I wear my Saigon Kick shirt from the Water tour about once every two weeks, and it's only slightly faded. Also be wary of a t-shirt that is not Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, or Giant. Giant is hands down the best, buy any of their shirts. My MD and QR Giant shirts are in MINT condition, and they're two years old. And Bafu: the G3 live disc is one disc ONLY with these songs:

Joe: Cool #9, Flying in a Blue Dream, Summer Song Steve: Answers, For the Love of God, Attitude Song Eric: Zap, Manhattan, Camel's Night Out Three live jams: My Guitar...; Red House; and one other (DOH!, Memory blank)

Absolutely disappointing set list if you ask me. Two of Joe's songs are already on Time Machine, nothing from Ah Via for Eric, but Steve's is okay. Would like to have seen Juice there though. With all the overdubs and shit, I'm not really looking forward to this as much as I had hoped. ____________________________________________________________ Andrew Forcier --List Manager-- The Peppermint Tribe, the Saigon Kick Mailing List For info, check out: http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~rfm5570/ or send e-mail inquiries to: andrew.t.forcier@prudential.com

I think you'd be better suited for the Our Gang tribute. :)

Oh, yeah, one more thing. I gave my class a quiz last Friday, with a bonus question: "This LI, NY based band had a hit single and video with the song "Pull Me Under." Who are they?" Unfortunately, no one knew, so I made them look on the web. Some got it. :)

DAMN FUCKING RIGHT!!! Holy shit, I was in a state of shock after those 3 goals were scored! I couldn't believe it! I'm STILL in shock (and obviously pretty excited)! I watched the whole game and turned it off after the first few minutes of the 3rd because the Stars had totally dominated most of it, then I turn it back just after it was 3-1 and they came back! Wow! And I assume you live in Detroit and watched the game on HNIC... was that a classic Bob Cole call or what? "Here come the Oilers... SCOOOOOOORES!! THEGAMEIS TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEDDDD!!!!!"

And did you see what happened to Marchmant in game 2? That was freaky, it was the scariest thing I've ever seen in a game, but the way players from both teams responded to that, the way Ludwig went to the hospital afterwards and talked to him... in what other sport can teams be such bitter enemies on the ice, but come together when something like that happens? Hockey rules!

    GO OILERS/SENS!

Oh, to keep this semi on-topic, as I write this I'm about to go out and get A PLEASANT SHADE OF GREY! (Or is that "gray"?) Woooohooo! Skipped school today to get it (just like I did with ACOS)!

Kevin kicks ass too, but this guy used to solo brilliantly for entire songs. I'm still waiting for him to top Bombay Vindaloo or Song for Eric...Maybe on the chromakey album? nah, I think he just doesn't like doing it anymore. sigh.

The Forgotten Tales is a collection of covers and acoustic versions, but it

kicks ass! Check out the speed-metal version of "Surfin' Usa"! Also the acoustic versions are very well arranged, giving a new spirit to songs like "Bright Eyes" and "Mordred's Song". But if you want an album with an Imaginations-like sound, I think you should choose TFTTW.

Five days ago I bought the last Fates album (yes, in Rome it was realeased in April 17th) and since that day I' m listening only to this cd. But I have to admit that it's not my favourite cd: in fact it's really hard to listen to aPSoG and I listened to it a lot of time only to "put" it into my mind. aPSoG it's a good album, there are some parts that are really cool but the impression is that some parts are not linked together: I mean that the passage from a part to another is sometimes done by fading pieces. When i first knew about this new prog song, I thought about it as a new aCoS: probably I mistake doing so, 'cause aPSoG it's darker and Fates are not DT. I don't know what I really expected from this album: Fates style is really different from "Parallels" and "Perfect Simmetry" (I don't have "Inside Out"). As I said I expected, some ways, a masterwork as aCoS but while aCoS kept me since the first time I listened to it (and it's still my favourite song), aPSoG did not. And I think that it's really important that a song so long "imprints" immmediatly in your mind. Well, I think that I said enough for this time. Hoping that you all will undersatnd my terrible English, I say you 'bye!!!
