    >Rip said that he thought they played You or Me... I don't think so, but if
    >anyone else remembers, please correct me.

i'm definately not sure about if it was you or me, however they did play one
new DT song that i heard the title of, then a few minutes later found myself
saying "uh.. what did he just say again?" so to my best knowledge it was
you or me, but my knowledge is that of a dimwit on many (most) occasions :)

    > Rip?
    >Didn't even know you were there... you were probably one of the fourteen
    >year olds my cousin and I were making fun of. :)

hehe, i was the one in the black long sleeved fix for 96 shirt.. i only saw
one other fix shirt, and it was maroon, short sleeved and worn by a big
dude, so the other fix shirt you saw was worn by yours truly. i was the
dude who asked john if he'd ever considered doing a concept album. yeah
yeah, dumb question, dumbly said, but i had a fun time doing it! :) also
asked him if he was afraid of the new 54 minute fates track while up there
    for autographs. ;)

as for derek, he wasnt a dick at all, and yeah, it was a riot when he would
turn people down for autographing old dt stuff. he did it to several
people, all of whom were pretty dumb for asking. i actually thought he
seemed like a great guy, and i saw both DS and JPs reactions when pat gave
em complimentary ytsejam shirts and they absolutely loved em. if i would
have thought ahead i would have asked pat to bring an extra and bought one
    from him there.

until the next dt get together in st louis i guess.. :)
i did run into dale again at mc murray again today, just as i was leaving..
man, thanks a ton for the tapes of stuff, i'll get you back two fold for
that! sorry i had to split!

and that wraps up another post :)

Tyketto is a GREAT hard rock/AOR band. If you're into this kind of stuff
(like I am) pick up their debut album "Don't Come Easy." Easily one of
the best albums, debut or otherwise, by ANY band in the genre. The second
one "Strength In Numbers" is pretty good, but I would avoid "Shine,"
which has a different lead singer, who did a great Steve Perry
impersonation w/ the band Tall Stories, but sounds like a 2nd rate
    Robert Plant ripoff w/ Tyketto.

    THANKS NEIL!!
Your words of encouragement have spawned me to greater heights. As you
said, it sometimes takes people like ourselves to be bold and listen and
play what we like. I currently am in the process of mixing an original
studio album myself and my roomate and I have spent much time arranging,
producing and writing. The direction of the music lies somewhere within
the realm of a Metallica meets DT in an alleyway and decides to "duke it
out." Thanks for letting me know that there are some people out there that
    still appreciate "good" music.
    Musically yours,

Hello all. I am looking for a book that isn't available here in the U.S. The
book is called Not For Our Eyes by Annamarie Piccone. My mother is
trying to get this book. It might be written in Italian, but since she doesn't
read Italian, she wants an English version. If you can find the book,
please e-mail me at gsrockr@stratos.net. Thanks for your time, G.

    Hey folks-

I had been off the jam for awhile but just wanted to tell this story that
    just happened to my friend:

My friend Tony from Drew went to Long Island this weekend to visit his
woman. Anyways, I'm just sitting in my room and he calls me all excited.
He told me that he met John Petrucci in the Smithaven Mall in Long
Island. At first, my friend was freaking out because he was not sure if
it was him or not so he decided to model ytsejam behavior and stalk him.
BTW, John was with his wife and kids. So he follows John into a candy
store. Here's a brief paraphrased conversation of what happened:

Tony: Excuse me, are you John Petrucci?
    JP: Yes.
Tony: I don't want to bother you but I just want to say that
          you're my favorite guitarist.
    JP: Thanks.

That's basically the gist of it. My friend was too nervous to ask him any
questions or anything but told me that if he had a second chance he would
have asked about the upcoming album. Oh well. Just wanted to share that
    story.

HEY NOW! Check out this freaky dream I had the other night! I swear to
    god this
    is true... :)

Remember back in the mid-80's when "We Are the World" and its hard
    rock/metal
equivalent "Starz" were all the rage? Well, my dream involved a big
    recording
session similar to those... you know, a room full of singers up on
    risers,
gathered in groups around several mics, the whole nine yards. Exactly
    like you
see in those "making of" videos. Except this session was a group of us
YTSEJAMMERS singing our own "all-star" version of ACoS! It was so cool.

I have no idea how, but somehow we got our hands on a special
    instrumental mix
of ACoS, maybe through the fan club or something (it was a dream, man,
    you
have to suspend some disbelief!). Anyway, somebody on the list organized
    a
YtseCon sort of thing whereby jammers from all over the place showed up
    at this
studio one weekend for the recording session. I guess there were about
    30 of us
altogether, and each jammer got to sing a couple of lines. I'm laughing
    just
thinking about it. The better singers in the bunch got to take the more
    difficult
sections, the middle-of-the-road singers were assigned somewhat
    less-challenging
sections, and the absolutely tone deaf graciously volunteered to do the
    spoken word
parts. :) Everyone chimed in together to sing parts like "Innocence
    caressing me..."
and of course to yell "PLEASE DON'T GO!!!" It was great! Easily one of
    the coolest
    dreams I've ever had.

The finished product sounded really great, by the way... especially
    certain moments
when 2 jammers got to harmonize ("oh come let us adore him," etc) and
    especially
the huge choir of PLEASE DON'T GO!!! I got to sing the "tripping through
    the light
fantastic....I feel like giving up" part of Another World.

    HOW COOL IS THAT???

    Lying bleeding in the dark,

    Jeff

These days they can vary from $500 to over $3,000 with your good pro-level
board being an average of $1000 to $1500. Same for pretty much any
manufacturer. Used is cheaper, of course.

As to how Derek bought his when he was thirteen and how much a good board
cost then, I don't know, but who knows, maybe it was bought for him by his
parents for a Christmas (or whatever) present.

Am I up for bid now, or what? :)

Actually the one I want I've only seen discounted for $3500. Most
retail places I've seen want it for around $4k to $5k. It's name is
the Trinity ProX, and it's power is divine. Most certainly more than
just a synth. I've got the ad brochure thing, if people want a post
of it's amazingness, lemme know, I'll be glad to show it off. This
thing kicks more ass than E-Man's JPM100.

(It's yours dude, YOUR JPM. :) The Ibanez EKM1000. :)

Glad to see Derek uses one, too. I'll have to beat him up after a
show and take it from him.

Anyone else ever try one of these out? There's a couple of premade
samples in it. If I remember right, one's called Theater of Dreams,
and there was another Dream Theater reference one on there called
Yit-say-jam or sumthin like that. Too bad I can't remember Exactly.
It's rather kewl, though. Top quality and all. Too bad Korg doesn't
have their own website, or I'd point you to one.

Ah, well, my X3 suits me fine anyway. :)

well, i got the new u2 today. been meaning to for a while, and so far i dig
it. very dancey, i think its pretty cool. maybe i'll set up my strobe
light later and sit around in it while listening to this :) theres actually
lots of melody on the album, some cool vocals and as always edges guitar
work is edge-like and premo. following the vein of achtung and zooropa,
with a few new tricks in the bag. i kind of think the whole history of u2
from scrappy street punks to the biggest in the biz is a fascinating one,
and they just cant help being one of my favorite bands. Now with all these
new albums coming out, i want my new DT! :<

Thanks to them, I have no tape of the clinic, and no > pics of DS or JP, much less myself with them. If anyone on the list works > for McMurray, please tell everyone I said 'fuck you'. :) Definitely agreed there. I didn't have many means (other than a huge-ass camcorder I couldn't sneak in if I tried) to record anything really, but I did notice a good amount of recording/camers devices there. I think one dude with a little camcorder was with the store (saw him the next day behind the desk in the main lobby), but I know I saw more than one recording device.

After finishing that, he said "Once you have > that down -" and didn't get much farther because of the laughter and cries > of frustration from the crowd. Or when he stressed that he was double-picking these fast runs, and how it'd be extrememly difficult to do it with downstrokes only, but that Jems Hetfield could probably do it (then went on to do some runs with downstrokes, mixing the Enter Sandman riff in between :).

    > Also, who the fuck are all you people posting about the clinic, and why > didn't I meet any of you after the clinic!? I was there for at least a > half hour talking to Derek or getting something signed by John. Rip? I would've said something if I knew what you looked like (didn't see a jam shirt, though. I got there right before JP came on, so I wasn't there early. I did hang out some afterward, though). The only one who's appearance I was already familiar wiht was/is Rip's.

    > Didn't even know you were there... you were probably one of the fourteen > year olds my cousin and I were making fun of. :) For some reason I doubt that since Rip looks a little older than his age (he's tall for his age :).

I think I went to high school with this guy :).
