-An Iron Maiden question -- those double-disc bonus-disc sets
-that came out in the recent past... Have they stopped
-producing them? I've been looking around to complete my
-Maiden-collection, but all I can seem to find are the damned
-single-disc versions (good albums, but without the free bonus
-disc!). Just one more reason to hate the record companies (as
-if one more was even necessary).

They were supposed to have been discontinued in March, of 96.
I'm sure you can still find them. Go to CDNOW or some online
place that's big and check around there.

I just wanted to agree strongly with Clark regarding fan
loyalties. Although we are all loyal to a band (in this case DT), we are
so because of the music they create, not just the members. If they
suddenly create new music (as in drastically different), we can give it a
try but if we don't like it, then we no longer have a reason to be fans.
I know, for the most part, we all respect the members of DT and their
abilities but if they didn't perform music we enjoyed listening to, many
of us would no longer be fans because we are here for the music. Clark
really hit the nail on the head, and in a most intelligent way!

    Hi!

Of course Europe is better than everything else... (ZZAP - unsubscribed in a
    heartbeat)

..simply because DT will be playing here ;-) Anyone who's planning to go to
one of the European shows, look into the German webpages (URL below) if you
need (or *have*) the addresses or contact numbers of the venues. Look into the
"Termine" page. If you have problems with the German texts and can't find the
info you need, just mail me.

One last word about the banned topic: If I helped to clutter the Jam with my
last post I'm very sorry. I should have sent it to private mail. Glad to see
    some DTC here again.

    >mean come one, it boils down to two things. 1.) They whoop our ass in >hockey 2.) They're football and basketball teams suck. THERE!! How

WE WILL AVENGE OUR WORLD CUP LOSS!

For those of you who continue to rub in our loss in the WC, don't forget that we were without the best hockey player of all time (IMHO) in Mario, we were without the best young up-and-comer in the world in Paul Kariya, and we were also missing two other great players in Ron Francis and Ray Bourque. I think the only really notable absence from the US team was Roenick, and he doesn't compare to any of those 4 players. Not to mention that Glenn Sather is an idiot and tried to put together an Oilers alumni team. And then he had guys like Lyle Odelein on the team (where the hell was Sylvain Lefebvre?) Not to make excuses or anything. :)

As for football, the CFL has about 100 times more tradition than the NFL. Have you ever noticed that Canadian sports/leagues always have the biggest and best trophies and the most tradition? We have the Stanley Cup and the Grey Cup. You have...nothing! :) Also, a Canadian invented basketball. Anyway, personally I find football and baseball (though, the Blue Jays bandwagon was fun to jump on those 2 years) to be the most horribly boring sports I've seen. Basketball isn't much better. Hockey rules. Does it get any better in sports than the Stanley Cup playoffs? I don't think so. The playoffs epitomize what sports should be all about. NCAA basketball? Boooo.

    >simple is it. Besides, why is it so important? I applaude everyone for their

Hockey is everything. Everything is hockey. GO LEAFS GO!

Disclaimer: This message is just random babble and has nothing to do with politics or USA vs. Canada!

BTW, too bad that Metallica rumour isn't true. IMHO.

Also BTW, am I the only one who thinks it's a bit strange DT don't seem to have plans to release a lot of the new songs? When I look at all the other great DT songs that were never officially released on albums, like Don't Look Past Me, ACOS (before they did finally record it), To Live Forever, Eve, etc., I see so much great music. It sounds like we'll either be seeing a ton of b-sides, or we'll be missing out on some great stuff. Anything by DT should automatically be recorded and released. Maybe they can give the songs they cut to Mike Bahr.

Looking for some help here on Angra's 'Holy Land' CD. There are two versions of it that I have found, but I am curious as to the difference between the two and which one is the better one to get:

Angra -- Holy Land + Bonus CD (LTD) IMC260162 Import Angra -- Holy Land + 1 JAP232922 Japanese Import

Is the Japanese version one disc that has one extra track over the normal version, with the other version being that one disc (minus the bonus track) but with a second whole bonus disc? Which of these should I purchase to get the maximum listening pleasure? Thanks in advance for any help you guys might give me.

No shit. I saw them live and he even pulled that stuff of live. Amazing. I hear he owns a recording studio now, and I've heard rumblings of a Steelheart album in Japan only. For all you fans of really high-pitched vox (not screaming, just range) definitely check them out. They've got two albums released in the US: self titled, and "Tangled In Reins" (I perfer the latter). Think of the highest note you've ever heard JL pull off. This guy can go higher.

sorry to waste such precious bandwith (snicker) but there are a few things going on you all might want be aware of. 1. Our favorite drummer (no, not neil) has an article in the new issue of PROGRESSION magazine. the interview was done right after Mike's Columbus (that's in ohio, kids) drum clinic. No, i won't post the article, but wanted to let you know it's out there.

    2. In the same issue of PROGRESSION magazine, they give Lemur Voice a _GREAT_ review of Insights. If you want to see that, go to my lemur voice page (which is an official page, btw) and it's there.

speaking of which, you guys should really subscribe to progression. it's got the latest info on tons of progressive rock bands. it comes out quaterly (and hey, with this issue it came with a promo john wetton/geoff downes cd.)

    3. As for the Angra asking, i have the Holy Land + Bonus Disc. It contains _holy land_ in it's entireity. there's a bonus song called "Queen Of The NIght" which is on the HOLY LAND CD. the bonus cd is a 3-track accoustic ep called "Live Acoustic at FNAC" which is about 17 or so minutes. you did ask.

    4. Finneus Gauge news. According to Chad, the band's about half way done the album. There are a few songs that aren't _quite_ done yet, but when it's out, it's gonna do really well. the _offical_ finneus site is at:

    http://www.ghostland.com/finneus.html

    it's a great site.

anyway, hope that answers some questions, and i'll catch you all later.

I still bust out my Skid Row and other "80's-early 90's" CD's every now and then and I'm damn proud of it. I have 3 Skid ones- Slave To The Grind, B-side Ourselves, and Subhuman Race. Other bands like that that I love include Lillian Axe, Arcade, etc.

About the Mike Bahr CD's- hell, if the band supports them even in the very least bit, I'll buy them. No one said the band is totally against them so its not like I'm going against the ways of the band so why not? Hell, I'm now awaiting Precious Things and Darkest Of Winters!!

As for Kiss The Stone records, damn. If there wasn't a minimum order of 5 CD's, I'd buy some. I suppose I can find other Dream Theater boots.

Good luck, man. It seems that boot bust has shut down a LOT of manufacturers, and the ones who didn't get busted are going back into the woodwork for a while. It will become REALLY hard to find boots of all kinds. I'm sure this will make Heather happy, though. Right newbie? :P

You >should take the good with the band and except it for what it is, not >degrade it for what you think it should have been.

Come on.... PLEASE!!!! If it sucks (in my opinion), I won't listen to it. What can I tell ya?!? I have loved some bands for years and when they put out an album that blows, IT BLOWS! I am not going to be a fool and listen to it anyway just to be loyal- sorry. And particularly, if it's a band I have admired for a long time, of course my expectations will be higher thats just human nature!!

Well, if the musicians have any REAL integrity, they will not listen to the record company. FUCK the record companies! FUCK THEM!!!! Write and play the music you love, and if you comprimise your integrity and put out what someone else tells you......well that just shows what kind of a person you are. Are you a whore and a slave to the money, or are you real???! Maybe thats why DT isn't in the studio right now, huh??

Your talking about a condition called trisomy X there I believe where the women afflicted have three X chromosomes instead of the normal two. I also heard that these women are barred from the olympics because it would supposedly give them a "leg up" on the competition. Strange world, no? I happened to be paying attention in biology class one day. :) It doesn't technically make them masculine, but it gives them a crazy hormonal boost that makes them seem more manly. I don't think it provokes facial growth or hairy chests, though. :)

Learn something every day here dontcha? :) KorgX3 a.k.a. ibanez@cyberhighway.net http://www.cyberhighway.net/~ibanez/index.html Disclaimer: The content expressed in the previous document is not the opinion of the author.
