I recently downloaded from the net an excelent program called
VSC-55 Roland Virtual SoundCanvas, but duration of play is limited
    in 50 seconds.

Does anyone have the complete program or some sort of crack?

know. Let's try and arrange a Ytse-Crowd for the guys =]

Well, I have to say how dissapointed I am with a few people on this list and
their stupid posts about "You Not Me". Some of the reasoning and logic used
    has been quite amazing.
YNM is possibly the most radio friendly song DT have done agreed. But the
whole problem DT have suffered as regards the media (and a lot of us rightly
moan about) is that they are very hard to categorise because as has been
pointed out you cannot judge ANY of their albums by a particular song.

Examples : WDADU - Status Seeker, Afterlife - both non-progressive radio
    friendly songs
I&W - Another Day, Surrounded, WFS - all non-progressive radio songs
Awake - Innocence Faded (Minus the instr. end "tagged on"), LSOAD, Lie - all
    radio friendly songs

Whats the diff with YNM - the diff is its the best radio friendly song they
have written so there is more of a chance of it doing well on radio and then
SHOCK HORROR more people are exposed to DT and buy their records, more people
hear all the different sides of DT - radio, Progressive, Heavy etc. A few wont
get into it and wont listen to the CD again but many more fans will be gained
aswell. Dont we all want DT to sell loads of records? Dont we want them to be
successful? Quite rightly a lot of people on the Jam moan about the state of
chart based music and the hype that unjustly surrounds it and yet when DT
finally look like they might make inroads suddenly peoples attitudes change.
DT is not owned by you or me (!) but by five guys we all know and some people
seem devoid of this fact and become obsessive to the fact any little change is
a sell-out - "How dare they meddle with "OUR" music". It seems like some jam
members want DT to be their "Little secret" so that they can moan and bitch
how they should be bigger, well I WANT them to be bigger. That takes
compromise from both sides. Has anyone ever got a job and you then just dont
conform one bit, do it completely how you like, not listening to your
superiors? No I didnt think so, because you wouldnt have that job very long,
we all have to compromise in lots of ways in life and DT are not exempt.

What do you reckon Steffen ? perhaps Lines in the Sand should be the first
single, a nice easy to listen to track, 13 mins long, plenty of time changes -
its bound to get everyone's attention! LITS is my fav new song but it is not
the "Commercial" DT side the record company is likely to try and sell this
    record on is it?
Lars : However brilliant Metropolis is (and it is) I doubt I&W would have sold
what it did if that had been the first Single/Video, do you? Lets be honest!
and sales do matter no matter what anyone says unless you are Paul McCartney
or the like and then Record Companies might give you free licence to record
what you want. Otherwise you get dropped no matter how good the material is -
    ie. Kings X.

As one of the weaklings who succumbed to the Fix for 96 bootlegs I can safely
say none of the new songs remotely sound like each other yet you have certain
Bubbleheads chanting "Woe is Me, the end is nigh for DT" basing it on 4 1/2
mins of a CD which is nearly 80 minutes long. I used to hold the mistaken
belief that I was among people who were flexible in their musical beliefs,
didnt pigeon hole bands and liked what they liked because it was GOOD music
and didnt deride it because it was 5 mins long, simple and with a good chorus
(YNM) or 23 minutes long and with more time changes than British Rail (ACOS)
and didnt condemn a style of music because it didnt fit their rigid musical
beliefs (in this case DT can't make Radio friendly songs and cant be
successful because all their songs should be over 10 minutes and require the
mental capacity of Steven Hawking). Seems I was wrong.

All the new stuff I have heard is quite superb and varied as usual and I have
no doubts it will rival I&W as my all time Fav CD.

Long live Dream Theater, lets hope their time has come. I for one will be
mighty pleased when it does, they have earned it.

P.s. If that twat who called MP a liar ever comes to England I will personally
organise a lynch mob, what an ungrateful b*****d you must be. MP goes out of
his way for us and he doesnt have to. Thanks Mike.

Nope. Desmond Child was definitely NOT in Bon Jovi. The members of Bon
Jovi, were JBJ, Richie Sambora, Tico Torres, Dave Bryan, Alec John Such.

What I have noticed is that nobody mentioned that Desmond Child has
written/co-written some of Kiss' biggest tunes in the 80's.

Yes, I'm playing it through the little 4-watt speakers that came with my
computer. I actually think those speakers sound pretty good. I also
took my computer back to the store and had them put Windows 95 on it,
and it brought my desktop to life! Thank god we have such high quality
products like Win95... I can't imagine a computer without it! And to
think, they use Unix operating systems on the space shuttles, but
they'ev never used Win95...geez, the government really sucks. There's
no way the sound quality would be poor on such a kick-ass system.

Anyway, these little white speakers sound so good I sold the speakers on
my stereo, and I now have my CD player hooked up to my 4-watt computer
speakers! Everything just sounds so much better now. When I turn the
volume and bass up real loud, I can't feel it shaking the floor
anymore. A couple of times that scared the shit outta me... I thought
    it was a fucking earthquake!

Surrounded is 6 minutes long, and primarily in 9/8 time signature - that's
hardly non-progressive radio friendly. Wait for Sleep, although a
beautiful song, I don't think is radio friendly. Of all the songs you
mention, you skip the 2 obvious ones. Pull Me Under (even though I never
would have classified it as radio friendly) received quite a bit of
airplay, and is the sole reason many of us bought I&W, and subsequently
joined this list. The other one is The Silent Man. It boggles me that
Atco/East West didn't push Another Day and The Silent Man. But I guess if
they did, we would have heard a lot of bitching about pushing the radio
friendly song...ala You Not Me. I don't get it - we all want DT to be
successful, and continue putting out albums. Would any of you have bitched
if AD or TSM crashed the top ten? Will you bitch if YNM crashes the top
    ten? I certainly won't.

Okay, I forget who was talking about posers who only like radio
Metallica songs. But, I had the exact opposite happen to me. I was
reminded by that Ler interview in Guitar School. :)

Okay, I gave this tape of more obscure stuff to a guitarist in a local
band. He said he was into Jimi Henidix, and, was just getting into
Yngwie and fast guitarists. So, I started bringing up Eric Johnson,
Steve Vai, etc. He never heard of them. This puzzled me. Anyway, I made
he a tape of guitar stuff on one side and prog-metal on the other side.

When I talked to him a couple of days later. He said he got to the
fourth song, thought the singer sounded like Manson, and, quickly
stopped the tape. So, I asked him well what were the other instruments
doing. He answers with I wasn't listening for the other instruments. I
shake my head, and, think what was the fourth song. It was FW! He
thought that part2 of APSoG sounded like MM!?! I just said well what was
before it. He answers with this really long solo type song. Before Part2
I dubbed Met part1. He said he thought that song was cool. I swear I
hate it when people think Ray Alder is MM. :)
    ARGH!!!

Jon, Yes I did bring up your 180 thingy in my post but I forgot
that you brought it up. So yeah it wasen't directed towards your post.
It was just me bringin stuff up that these people don't get. So yeah
your cool. I've heard alot of the new stuff people have you? It all
rock's it's great. I mean Why? Why on earth can you sit here and bring
up all this crap about this little song, that is so much of a non-factor.
Have you heard the other songs? Thats my question to all you Cavemen
minus John. I'm sure if you have, it would put your worries to rest.
Forget about YNM if you hate it. Remember it if you like it. Cuz the
rest of the album is very much different. Like MP said to my ears and to
everyone I know's who Ive played the new stuff too ear's it's a mixture
of I&W and Awake. Thats what it sounds like. I would like to hear what
all these Cavemen have to say about the new songs Minus YNM? ALL YOU
PEOPLE THAT HATE YNM HAVE YOU HEARD THE OTHER NEW MUSIC? AND IF YOU HAVE
DO YOU LIKE IT? AND IF YOU DO THEN SHUT UP! IF YOU HAVEN"T HEARD IT
SHUT UP! AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT WELL THEN YOUR A CAVEMAN! Can someone
else here agree with what I say. Who ever has heard the other stuff come
out and say what you think about it cuz I'm curious to know what you
think. I'm pretty sure you say you like it so just tell these YNM
bombers to take a pill and chill.
    Jon
