Hi everyone,
I've noticed people haven't posting many reviews lately. So, I'm just
posting to tell people where they can find some reviews. The Koffin and
Edge of Time are two of the better ones out there(that means they're
free :).
I was impressed to learn that when the Koffin reviewed ACoS when it came
out, that they gave it a high rating(something like 8 or 9 out 10). That
really caught me off guard. This is one of those zines that looks more
into heavy than technical.
But, the reason I'm even posting this is to spa--I mean, to...uh...tell
you that they got some cool reviews in the current issue. No DT, but,
Quiet Room, Thought Industry(only 4 out of 10), and Galactic Cowboys.
And before I write another NDTC paragraph let me just say...
ONLY ANOTHER 8,174 WFS's till FII!!!(starting midnight tonight) I don't
think that's enough times for a poser like me to learn the lyrics! :(

The Edge of Time is an e-zine for pretty much only progressive bands.
This is the one that Spinal(or Spiral?) Architect(First, it's too
long... :). It's good, but, the bands really just think they're so
great. It knows bores me, actually.

Anybody else like to see this? Since, I now know HTML(it took me forever

start it. Not a FAQ, but more like past crap on the jam! :) Also,
besides Y&J, and the visual music thread, what should be up there? Hehe,
there's no way "Rush is fuckin' TRASH" post is not going to be up there,

I don't think that "Lords of Sound" is worth $50, but only $35 (it
has "Learning to Live" edited and the sound lacks some higher
frequencies). The great things are live versions of "Eve" and "To Live
Forever".
Well, "Wake Up" is the same boot as "Mind Control", with a lot
less editing (for instance, LaBrie says something about the show being
broadcast that "Mind Control" doesn't have). It has decent sound quality
and I think that it is a bargain for $25 (it is a double CD).
If you are interested in the JPPV, then you may get it from
Melissa Barh for $10 (they have the broadcast and they are selling copies
from their SVHS source). Email <emerald@goodnet.com> for more information.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Queenryche.

I like this cd. It is very mellow but very good. It definitely not like Winger's 1st or 2nd cd. It is close to Winger's Pull cd though. Some others on the list have mentioned the cd and some like this cd...

Well, thanks to Mattew Teiper, I've heard "Tales from the Thousand Lakes", "My Kantele" and "Black Winter Day" (I already had "Elegy"). I think that "Elegy" is as good as "Tales from the Thousand Lakes", but the latter seems to be a bit repetitive at times. I'd really love to hear a 10 or 15 minute song by these guys tough.

I think 6:00 is such a great song to go [cut for fear of being banned by bringing back visual music thread]. :) But, seriously I catch myself saying all these things, weird beps and bops(like when you're slapping and popping) while air drumming. I don't know where they come from. I don't that to any other song(DT or otherwise). And, yes I've tried to play what was in my head. And, all I have to say is MP plays around way too much with the beat.

They are pretty cool, but their older stuff is much better. I personally prefer My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Ulver for gothic, evil sounding stuff.

AMORPHIS RULES!!! Elegy was released May of 96 though man! GET IT! It rivals "Tales..." as the best album. My Kantele is the new EP that was jsut released, so wherever you got that, I am sure you'll find Elegy there.

I was watching Dr. Katz on Comedy Central today. And one of guys on couch brought up something that's been talked about here. This is a very loose quote so don't hold me to the exact words.
"Docter, I bought a CD of a group I don't even like! This ever happen to you? It's, like, you hear it so much, you're, like, "MUST...HAVE...COOLIO." Well, I put my foot down this time! I returned the CD. And bought a CD of Indian music from India! There's this one song, it's 59 minutes! And the drum don't come in till 20 minutes into the song! But, you know, if you're *really* listening they couldn't come in any earlier. So, I played it for my friend. And 19 minutes into the song he's, like, "this sucks." But then the drums came in at 20 minutes and he's, like, "this rules!""
Anybody else think this guy's friend is Howard Stern? ;-)
