    Regarding the Bahr bootlegs:

I agree with what Roger stated about capitalism ruling itself, and if
people want to pay for these recordings, then all the power to Mike in
charging what he knows people will pay. I've often thought of copying the
previously existing bootlegs, and selling them on the jam, and I still may.
What I don't like is the fact that Mike has an unfair advantage, of having
a contact who supplies him with the material, thus, his product will be
much better and much more sought after - therefore ruining the whole
capitalism principle. In a true capitalistic system, I could create the
same CD (or similar in material), and offer it at a competitive price,
which most likely would drive Mike's price down. But since Mike has the
connection, I'll never be able to get my hands on that stuff, so Mike
remains a monopoly, and like the gas company, he can charge what he wants.
    Thank god for deregulation.

To sum it up, I think copying the already existing bootlegs is fine, since
many people have access to the new material - not to mention the fact that
we didn't bootleg it. I'll copy them, and try to sell them for less than
Mike does, then he'll bring his price down, and I'll bring mine down more,
until eventually, we're barely breaking even. The consumer wins this way,
and should be able to get a single CD boot for well under $20. However, I
think Mike has an unfair advantage with the Prism Records bootlegs that he
produces, and the material should be readily available to everyone on the
list, for the cost that Mike pays for it - which most likely is not a cent.
This material should be freely distributed via tape trees, and then if
several people want to cut CDs from the material, then at least there would
    be fair competition.

Here's another idea: how about if I pay someone $10 to lend me your
Precious Things CD, I'll copy it and sell replicas for $9 a piece. This
will be only the music, no cover and no jewel case (to cut down on mass
postage costs), but at least you'll have the music for $9. This is
hypothetical, but I wouldn't feel the slightest bit guilty about it, since
it would be introducing some much needed competition into the picture, and
also because the material isn't Mike's anyway.

Anyway, I've actually rambled way too long about this, because frankly I
don't really care that much. I just wanted to add my 2 cents about the
    whole bootleg/capatilism thing.

When I was talking to Ray after the show Friday, he made note of my
Ytsejam shirt. He asked if I was on the internet and stuff. He says he
knows nothing about the net and once his wife was trying to get him to
come read something on the net but he wouldn't hear of it.

He said he liked my shirt and said "I didn't get one".

    NEWER SUBSCRIBERS, PLEASE TAKE NOTE
    -----------------------------------

We have hit an all time low as far as the quality : garbage post ratio on the Ytsejam.
I would like to impress upon you all that there is much value to this list, and that the
greater majority of Ytsejammers (likely yourselves included) truly abhor the types of
insulting derogatory posts we've been receiving so frequently. It has not always been this
bad, and Skadz is competent enough to take care of these issues, even if it may evenually mean
blocking free e-mail services from posting to the Ytsejam. One bad apple can screw everything
up for a lot of people.
Arash, I want to apologize on behalf of the digest for that child's behavior. He
will be dealt with... we have many here among us who are probably already getting this guy's
accounts turned off. Please don't think that he is a typical jammer... we are 900+, and there
are very few people who act _that_ immature.

    VETERAN JAMMERS
    ---------------

You are the people who know how to use this list. None of the real veterans would
spam the list with flames at someone who's obviously just an imbecile, trying to cause
problems. Take Wacky's advice, and just ignore the problems on the list, or make Skadz and
the offender's ISP aware of the situation, in an adult and civilized manner. "I have been on
this list for a year" is absolutely meaningless. Have the respect to judge whether or not
something warrants your public attention, or realize that you're going to annoy more people
than you amuse. I'm as guilty of this oversight as any, but I realize when I make a mistake,
and I don't perpetuate it. Our commenting on how moronic and disrespectful these recent posts
have been will not assist anyone in preventing the problem.
I encourage you to e-mail the offenders directly if you feel you need to discuss the
issues with him or her. If you must flame someone who absolutely has no mind, then keep it in
Private e-mail, and CC: someone@prognosis.com, if ya think it was pretty funny.

            Lets clean up the jam!

I think this is the perfect time for all you native English speaking
people to realize that a *big* part of the Ytsejammers actually have
problems expressing themselves in your language. Instead of bitching
about their use of English, *appreciate* the fact that they at least

I'm sure some people will be interested in this. Someone on the
Marillion mailinglist started a fund, to help pay for a US tour.
Every donor of $25 and over will get a *free* limited edition CD
recorded during the US tour. Only 1000 copies will be made, and
there are still some left (about 100-200, I think). Marillion's
record company recently went chapter 11, and *now* the Tour Fund
will have to pay for the *entire* US tour, instead of just a few
shows as was planned. There are only 9 days left to donate, and
get one of those limited edition numbered (possibly signed) cds.
      Here's your last chance...

If you're a Marillion fan, donate NOW... What is $25 (preferably
more) for a limited edition numbered possibly signed live album,
that will probably end up becoming a valuable collectors item ?

Ok I posted neither one of these. This guy is impersonating me. As
you can see he first posted it with his email address. Then somehow
using my email address. And to top it off he copied what I mailed him
and added Arash's name! I mailed him privately saying the same thing
to him minus the name Arash, and the last sentence "Learn english
motherfucker." I stood up for Arash! If you do not believe me ask him,
I also mailed him privately telling him not to let this guy bother him,
and that most jammers are not like that. Here is the only thing about
this incident that i have posted on the jam until now, you can go read
    it yourself in Ytsejam #2844:

    >You know, I've been on the jam for over a year, and this is the single
    >worst piece of filth I have ever seen posted here. We have rules
    >about things like religious debates, country debates and things like
    >that. But people like this are the ones who need to be kicked off the
    >list. Come on Skadz, lets get rid of this worthless waste of sperm &

I have never been impersonated like this, and I find it very insulting,
not to mention scary. There is no telling what else this loser is
    doing with my email address!
