    Greetingz -

Just a quick question here: I was hoping that someone could pass onto me the complete track listing of the "Live at the FNAC" acoustic CD that accompanied some pressings of Angra's "Holy Land". I have heard that it is 3 tracks (but I am not sure). I believe that 2 of the tracks are "Angels Cry" and "Never Understand". Private e-mail is cool, but posted to the Jam is okay, too.

    Thanx a lot... Matt T.

    Hi again -

First off, I would like to thank the Jammer who pointed me in the direction of Empire Entertainment for the "Reaching Horizons" CD by Angra. I e-mailed them inquiring about any other Angra merchandise of theirs, as well as ordering policies. I am forwarding their reply to you guys. I am not sure if they are reliable or anything (can anyone vouch for them?), but I couldn't believe how much Angra stuff they have!!! Anyway, I hope that this helps some fellow Angra fans out there.

    Peace.... Matt T.

    > > > Well, > > I bet you'll all think i'm an idiot, but i'm kinda new to this list, > so can anyone tell me what does YTSE mean?

YTSE is part of the word YTSEJAM. YTSEJAM, the name of this list, is taken from a song off of their first album, When Dream and Day Unite, called The Ytse Jam.

The Ytse Jam, comes from the backward spelling of the word Majesty, which happened to be the band's name before copyright or trademark concerns came up (another band was already using that name). Hence, they came up with the name Dream Theater, which was named after the Dream Theater, an actual theater in California. I think the name was suggested by Mike Portnoy's father, but I'm not sure.

Everyone here on the 'Jam uses it now as a prefix.

YTSE - (yit'-see) - prefix, denoting anything related to the YTSEJAM mailing list. Examples, YtseVan, Ytsejammer, YtseCon, Ytsefuckin' idiot, YtseHell, etc.....

More background on the origins of Ytsejam, Dream Theater, and random other stuff can be found in the Dream Theater FAQ, which is available somewhere in the Dream Theater website:

    http://www.rsabbs.com/dt

or at D-man's (Chris Merlo, the Digital Man, ytsehomo-at-large) website, though I don't know the URL off-hand..........

Is it just me or did these last few comments (and the subject) seem just a little bit out of line? Or just downright idiotic? How about a little sensitivity here. Jeez, I'll be glad when all of this hostility generated by the bogus Anti-Bahr tirades is gone and we're back to killing each other over more important things...like whether Derek Sherinian is gay or not. :)

Heck with the stage, have DT perform inside a compression chamber. The acoustics in those things are great.

    Ytsejam #2857 doesn't exist.

Good point. But your post hardly made me feel accepting or happy or hopeful about a situation in which the distributor makes a profit and the supplier makes nothing. Whether that's Brian Cox's genuine gripe in this situation or not, that's what happened between he and Mike Bahr. What he said has been refuted by Mike himself, so at the moment all we can do to decide who's right look deep within our heart of hearts and convince ourselves that we trust one of them more than the other. The phrase "who's right" is synonymous with "who's telling the truth."

    > I know I won't trade 2:1 the Euro '97 show I have. So what are people > supposed to do?

Find some nice folks on this list who will dub things for you for a blank cassette, a $5 check, or in some cases for free. Don't pretend that they don't exist, I got my start on the three sources listed above, and I ended up acquiring about 80% of the "rarities" that comprised "Scenes From A Memory" and "Antiquities" before I ever received the discs from Mike Bahr as compilations. I know he does many of the folks on this list a great service in what he does, but I was kind of annoyed when I found out that my $50 went towards a pinata of familiarity. (aren't I eloquent?)

    > You mentioned Brian Cox in your previous posts. He is an excellent > example of the problems encountered in simple boot trading. Let me > first say that I have absolutely _NO_ problem with Brian, I'm just using > him as an example.

Tools for becoming a seasoned YtseJammer:

    1. The DT FAQ. Read every word of it. Please point your Web browser to

    http://www.emba.uvm.edu/~cmerlo/dtfaq.html

    2. A dictionary of the English language (so you can look up such words as "carpe diem".)

I just found out how easy it is the other day to forge mail headers, and when something like this comes up, please ignore it. It's most likely NOT Dave who's doing this.
