I've been trying to transfer some DT midis from my computer to my portable sequencer (Yamaha QY22). The midi files in the computer have 8 or more different instruments, but my sequencer has only 4 tracks (and more 4 tracks for patterns, which are useless in this case). I know that in my computer sequencer I can have several instruments in the same track (as long as they are assigned to different channels). Does anybody know how can I do the same with my portable sequencer (fit 8 or more intruments in only 4 tracks)?

That's pretty simple. A domestic Japanese CD frequently costs more than an imported US or Euro version of the same thing - something to do with the small print runs, I believe, although I tend to think it's just gouging on the part of the Japanese labels. Consequently, Japan generally gets releases first - sometimes up to a month early - and they usually have bonus tracks. All of this is to encourage the Japanese consumer to buy the domestic product. Kind of ironic that while WE buy the Japanese imports, THEY are buying ours. :)

I don't know about holy live (but they've certainly touch 'cause I was at the aquaboulevard show and the sound was not so good 'cause of the place which normally is an "exposition" room for paintings !!!!!) but about Live at FNAC this is exactly the sound. For information, They've done 3 others songs (carry on, time and stand away). Next year (1996), kiko and andre were in france for the promotion of Holy Land and they've done another accoustic show. and this year all the band was hear (in france !!!) and they've played more than 2 hours with some painkiller touch on keyboards (funny) and an accoustic version of wasted year (IM ....). About the boots I get Holy land in the east which got the great sound (nearly holy live without the mix thing) and the eyes of the christ which contains all the demo stuff for holy land (March 1995) The band is angry about that 'cause you can find 3 unreleased tracks on it (Spell, live and learn and eyes of christ good songs !!!)

    Yo,

Went to Fates Warning show in Philly on August the 10th. It was less then I expected. The stage presence was close to horrible but the music sounded good. Kinda wish they had a second guitar player for the older songs that they did. Ray Alder's voice is unbelievable live!! There was only approx. 150 people at the show and the band kinda acted like they didn't want to play. There was a lot of people in the audience yelling No Exit!!! And with about 45 mins left in the show people were getting up and leaving like a baseball game or some shit!!! I guess they won't be back in Philly any time soon!!

Well as I'm also on Ytsejam from many years (changed many times email), and as I'm Italian and I REALLY know what the bootleg business work, I have to agree with Brian Cox about Bahr cd. I'm a videobootlegger sometimes I sold to guys who doesn't have nothing to trade, I'm the one who made the Milan 1997 videomix. And I bought some Mike Bahr cd also (the first and now "legendary" Subconscious). There is nobody in Luxemburgh that print stuff for anyone, two years ago laws changed in Luxembrug and the "gods of bootlegs" CD DE LUX close their farm... this farm worked with other names and it was the only farm that printed stuff in Luxembourg. After OrlandoBust almost every fuckin' guy who printed cdboots in Europe (and also in the States) was busted (check http://www.greyzone.com if I'm right this site is about RIAA), and actually in the world I think that cdboots are made only in Japan (legal printing, illegal selling) and in few places in germany (totally illegal). The future of the cdboots is CDR, actually many guys in this business print really EXPANSIVE cdr ($100/200)... the same thing was made by Mike Bahr... I'm not against cd made by Mike, he do really great quality stuff cds, but I don't like the way he sells. yes guys he make money from that (probably he don't swim in the money as he told in his recent reply), and that's ok, he makes the biz, he takes the risk, and gives limited cd. But that's illegal. A final note, as I'm a sound engineer I can surely tell that a CD x4 burner it's the worst equipment for printing AUDIO CD. Normally when I master stuff I master at x1 velocity... the reason is simple, cdburner mades lots of errors when is working x2 (these errors you don't listen to 'cause are 1 bit errors) ... you have to duplicate the errors using x4 and when too many errors are in the same places... your beautiful limitedcdboots stops running.... yes you can do them faster... but... :( faster ->>>>>> more cd in less times... Mike if you don't do this for business you will never buy a x4 cdburner...

That's what makes it fun: The discovery! You already enter into it knowing that the next song you haven't heard yet is going to be different. And yet, it's still gonna rip your head off :)

If you've never heard DT before, but have at least half a clue, you'll know when you hear the second tune what the deal is.

There's a woman here at work who is into Jazz. We've been trading discs back & forth for a couple of weeks now. As I listen to each disc she lets me borrow, I refine my choice of the next disc I give to her to be more in line with her tastes. It's fun, and I've gotten to listen to some great stuff. For example:

Michel Camilo's "Thru My Eyes" is a must have for those of you into Jazz. I open up the liner notes and notice a guy mentioned on here before: John Patitucci on Bass. Whoever it was that mentioned him, thanks. He does in fact play the crap out of the fretless. For me, though, the standout is Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez on Drums. He is quite ill :)

can someone clue me in to what exactly is the dispute here? someone said that i said things and bahr refuted them, adn it comes down to who do you trust...

well, i dont knwo which part of this is in question. it seemed that someone thought i was pissed because i didnt make money of the cd's. that is not the case, i dont need the money. i just wanted to be informed that it was happening, maybe have a chance to tell mike that i didnt feel comfortable with the stuff being put out on cd.

the facts are: (and i am sure mike bahr will agree)

    1. i taped the shows 2. i cloned the shows for him on blanks he sent me and returned them (i didnt keep any "free" tapes or money or anything) 3. at this point (early '96) i emailed with him quite a bit. he talked about the possibility of putting out a cd with one of the shows on it, but said he wanted the DATs right away just so he could listen to them (that is why i sent all 4 of them not just one which is what i would have done if he wanted it for a cd) 4. much time goes by, i dont hear from mike for over a year, maybe a year and a half. i have friends that still collect boot cd's, even mike's, and i never heard anything about the hsows being put on cd, so i forget about it.. 5. last week i decide to start redaing ytsejam's again to see some info about the new album. i read a mention of "darkest of winters" cd and remember that i actually suggested that to mike a long long time ago for the name of the cd he would possibly make from one of those shows. i went to his web page after doing a net search at search.onramp.net because i didnt even know where his page was. i saw the cd, got pissed that he never told me that he ended up doing it because i was no longer comfortable with him doing it with my tapes, adn i posted the post to the jam that i did. as mike has mentioned to me maybe i should have emailed him first but i was mad and surprised and oh well. i still feel everything i felt when i posted that. 6. contrary to what d. khoe said, i am not a "bootlegger". i tape shows. 95% of them i have permission to do so. for the odd show that i do not have permission for i usually have the blessing of the artist but not their management. i do not sell tapes or profit in any way from them. i am on many tape trees and have provided seeds for many trees also. mostly phish, moe., and blues traveler. all bands that encourage taping. i can say that just about every artist would agree that taping a show for personal and trading purposes only is different than selling 1000 cd's of a show on the internet for profit. i go out of my way to help phish and moe. newbies by copying shows for people i meet at the shows. if the entire band (dream theater) did not mind selling copies of shows then surely they would allow open audience taping. they dont. one can only assume that they do not all approve of taping or that they all do and would rather us have to pay for the show than to get it for free, which i seriously doubt.
