Hate to be picky, but in actual Western Music Theory, 6/8 is not a measure
with 6 eighth note beats. It's a measure with two dotted quarter note
beats, each of which is subdivided into three eighth notes. You cannot
look at a compound meter sign and say "hm. 9/8. That means 9 beats of
eighth notes" the way you can with simple meters. Anything where the top
number is divisible by three (except three itself) is a compound meter.

This is another reminder to those in Florida that there will be a John =
Petrucchi Guitar clinic in Florida on Monday, August 18. A lot of =
people have been wondering with store location he would be attending at =
and it is confirmed that he will be playing at the ORLANDO Thoroughbred =
Music Store. I believe the clinic will start at 6:30 PM, correct me if =
I am wrong. My friends and I are going to be there at least an hour and =
a half before the clinic (don't ask me why, I guess we think this thing =
might be sold out or something like that!?!?). I will be have a black =
YtseJam T-shirt on and my friend will have his Petrucchi guitar. I =
spoke to a few people who are attending and if there is anyone else =
    attending let me know.

    C-ya at the Clinic!

I disagree. Let's look at a few reasons:
1- Previous tour attendance- DT has headlined shows in ~1000+ person clubs.
I don't know about FW in the past, but they are playing to 150 people now.
2- Airplay- DT has gotten some exposure on the radio and MTV in the past.
How many people have seen DT on MTV and how many have seen FW on MTV?
3- Accessibility- JP and MP regularly put on clinics. JP, MP and JM all have
instructional videos. JP, MP, JM and DS are frequently mentioned in
magazines like Guitar World and Modern Drummer.
4- Label Support- E/W may not treat DT good, but they can promote a band
    much better than MetalBlade can.

Somebody posted a message stating how incredible Keneally is on both guitar
and piano/keyboards. I've got this to say: whoever saw the second round of
G3 and knew of Keneally previously probably had to pick their jaw up off the
floor after he and Vai played Pusa Road from Fire Garden Suite. Pusa Road is
specifically the movement with the sequenced piano and acoustic guitar. If
anybody was the highlight of the show, in a technical sense, it had to be
Mike Keneally. By the way, if anybody's interested he's got a HUGE webpage
on Moosenet. I'm not sure what the URL is but I think it's
www.moosenet.com/~keneally ,either way you can look it up in a search engine
    if my URL is wrong.
To the Satriani fans out there, here's a bit of current news. Joe finished
recording his new album which will be titled "Crystal Planet". It features
Joe, Stu, and longtime friend Jeff Campitelli. The album is said to be a
cross between Surfing and Flying In A Blue Dream but more electronic
sounding. All songs are supposedly on the up side (not as mellow and bluesy
as his current CD JS). Sorry about the lack of DT content.

I thought 3/4 and 6/8 were basically the same thing, so how can it be a
compound meter one way and not a compound meter the other way? Somethin's
    fishy :)

For some reason, 74 minutes of audio in the form of WAV files will
NOT fit on a CD. It will fit if written as an audio CD, but if written as
    data, it's nearly 850 megs of stuff. I don't know why there's a
difference, but there is. I never could back up the data files of my CDs
to CDs themslves... but the 1gb Jaz drive works.

I think you've missed something important here. The 4000 Hz (not KHz) tone
is just the strongest frequency, all instruments have many overtones and
one of them dominates the sound and decides the pitch of the tone, the
other tones create the specific tone of the instrument. So if you hear a
4th octave c at 4000 Hz, the tone probably contains much higher frequencies
that are essential for the instruments sound, it's what decides if it
sounds like a piano or an electric guitar.

I think it was Joe Satriani who said he preferred analog recording because
some of the high frequencies that the ear can't hear influence the
    frequencies that you can hear.

    Correct me if I'm wrong

Most songs except PMU, Another Day and TSM (Although PMU contains two 7/8
    measures)

To all the experts out there:

I have an Yamaha QY22 portable sequencer and I want to transfer some DT songs from my computer to the sequencer, which is general MIDI compatible. Some songs have 8 or more intruments but my sequencer has only 4 tracks. Is there a way to fit 8 or more instruments in only 4 tracks? Can I do like in my computer-have 2 instruments in one single track, as long as I assign them to different channels?

Those who can help me with this will be saved for last when I TAKE OVER THE WORLD!...world...orld...ld...d...d. Hey, cool echo!
